yesterday

- dreadmill hill walk x 40 mins
found a way to make the hills steeper, which was good

- stairmaster x 10 mins

ribs a bit better yesterday and today, less acute pain and more soreness/stiffness. there's also knock-on soreness in my left mid back, but that also seems less severe this morning.
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

found out yesterday that i am 95% likely to get furloughed (i.e., placed on leave without pay) on february 14. there's a 3% chance that i keep my full-time post and a 2% chance that my position is terminated altogether. deep breaths.

ribs continue to improve: they are now just sore, no acute pain. really, really glad that they're healing in time for my ski trip, which starts this weekend! i'm not going to run before then, just in the interest of not pushing my luck with recovery. will do some walking today, probably outside as i'm taking a sick day and so will have time during the day for it.

thanks, looking good as of today but fingers crossed!

- dreadmill hill walk x 30 mins + 6 mins very slow running + some more walking
run did not hurt but took it very slow (12 min/mile pace).

- stretch

Wow sorry to hear that. I've got my fingers crossed for the 3%. Is this from Trump 2.0 by any chance?

it is from trump 2.0, plus co-president elon, who decided in his infinitely arrogant stupidity to try to destroy my industry. miraculously, i did keep my job (for now). back home from my trip and first day back at work today, seems like everything is pretty much in chaos.

sunday-wednesday last week

- ski 4-6 hours per day

friday

- run x ~5 miles

sunday

- run x ~5 miles

ribs still not fully healed but they feel okay. just lingering soreness, which wasn't helped by descending all the hilariously steep SF/oakland hills. i always forget how nutty the streets are there. skiing was an absolute blast.

i'd legit been on tenterhooks re your situation, so i'm glad to hear you've kept your job, even if everything else around it is borked

thanks man. everything is properly borked, though.

last night

- climb x 60-75 mins
it'd been several weeks, so i just worked my way methodically through almost all the yellows, reds, and greens (easiest three levels) in the gym. felt okay, ribs still sore but not painful.

- dreadmill intervals
-- warm up
-- 5 x 0.5 mile @ 6:22 (last rep stepped down to 6:00 for a quarter and then 5:49 for the last quarter), 0.25 mile jogging rest
-- cool down

- dead hang x 60s+
mistake, ribs hurt a little after this. stupidly didn't actually measure but i counted to 60 very slowly.
