Sup Adarq, I've been watching a bit here and there but been at work for the semis and most of the games. Hoping to catch the final Sunday.
I'm happy to see Chile doing well as this is really their generational team. It looks like they'll be able to carry the momentum all way to the World Cup and they'll have a nice and experienced squad. The potential is definitely there for them to go far in the tournament next year along with good odds to win it this year.
As for my team, Germany, their coach is such an intelligent man. He's playing younger players to see which ones can fill into world cup roster and really contribute to that squad next year. It's great to see young players and also some older players who never had the opportunity to play for the national team before try and make their case. Plus its Germany so they'll always be near favorites to win.
My guy that I'm looking at is Timo Werner. He's 21yo and had a killer club campaign. Germany has lacked a true great striker since Klose retired a few years back so I'm hoping he can step up and really blossom. One issue might be that he's under 6' tall so its can be more difficult at the international level to find the space to get behind defenders. A lot of teams like to play a bigger forward to hold off the bigger center backs on the opposing squads and hold on to the ball long enough to open up play (and win headers in the box of course). So I'm hoping he's good enough to get past that which he very well might be. Check out this goal he had last game vs Cameroon. Absolutely filthy to time that ball perfectly.
