Balance between Job and Workout

I know that some of you have jobs on here and have the same struggle of balancing work and workout and some manage nicely as their work doesn't interfere.

But I would like to start this thread and find the most effective method of getting an effective workout when you are working 7am-5pm Mon - Fri and can only fit in one workout session a week.

As I do 2 days a week, the upcoming job will require 7am-5pm. So I can not do track workout effectively enough.

This has to be the main reason people aren't getting an effective workout.

Any suggestions?
Warm up drills
   - a walk, b skip quick powerful switch (heel to hams focus), a runs, dribbles small to big to run, straight leg to runs (force, reflex, go up/forward). force to hit the ground before it hits the ground knee/hip is at 90 degrees.
   - acceleration: low heel recovery, shin angle low, drive legs back before hitting the ground and drive thighs/knee forward not up

there's no way you can hit the track after work (after 5PM)? what about something like wednesday/saturday? You should be able to get in a track session on the weekend.

If you can't get to the track during the week, maybe just take it to the streets (or a football field etc)? So one session on a field (Wednesday) and the other on the track (Saturday).

Not sure why you wouldn't be able to fit in two quality sessions per week.. if you were trying to fit in like 4-5 then ya that would seem much more difficult.

(also going to move this to Strength/Power subforum.. this section isn't visited much).

yeah a 7-5 job means getting up early but it also means having evenings free. what's the restriction?

The job is 1hr Journey, so when I do finish I will be back by 6pm. So I will be able to workout and it closes at around 8pm. Since I am doing labourers job, I hope my energy is not diminished and therefore not put max effort into my workout. Stand most of the day, so legs will get tired. But I guess this is my only option.

Today, I only had 3-4 hours sleep. I sleep at around 12am. Wake up at 4:30am.

So I guess the restriction is in my head as I prefer mornings and this would be strange and would be maybe difficult after a tiring long days work.

Seems like your only restrictions will be how tired you are. Workout on the weekend if possible. and then try to squeeze in a workout during the work week.

if you really want to get down to it, you could try getting in some work on your lunch break but i have no clue how far your job is from your track. you could get in a good 20-30min of work with comfortable time to change and change back, I think.

That probably isn't feasible for you. So to tackle the issue of figuring out what will give you the most energy for your lifting right after work, i would suggest playing around with some high carb meals about 2 hours before your workout. Vary the amount of carbs and the timing, and find something that seems to work for you.

even if you don't have a strict plan for testing out the carb meals, if you happen to have a great day at the gym, write down everything you did/ate that day and the day before. try to repeat it, and see what caused it.

I will still go ahead with it, I will just think of the work as a pre training workout. Hopefully the tired legs should get better after some warm up. I'll see what happens at the track. I also decided to do it on a weekday after work so as ramadan is coming up, I will be able to finish at around 8pm and get back to break my fast at 9:30pm.
