How to Improve Quickness for Football

I am a football player and am looking to increase my quickness on the field.  My explosion is very solid, but I can't juke anyone for shit!

What are the best ways to improve quickness.  The old saying is that you improve by simply playing your sport...and I agree. I engage in route running 2-3 times a week to sharpen up every route i run.  But...this won't give me the super quick jukes or fast progress that I am looking for.

I just wonder if I'm missing anything in my training.  Obviously if someone wants to improve their speed, unless their strong as a bull they can benefit by improving their numbers in the gym.  I'm curious to know if there's anything I can do in my training that will directly apply to quickness and make me springier.

Thanks

great advice, think Charlie Francis said something along the lines of the best way to get "quicker" in your sport is to practice your sporting movement and sprint.  -- Become more efficient+utilize best "reactive" exercise

and if that does not work... TAQ 2.0 BRA

that doesnt have anything to do with quickness. That is speed. You can be quick but not fast. I MYSELF am a great example for that.

TAQ is actually a good program for quickness. I can vouch for that.
Big thing is
do a bunch of low level plyometrics for movement efficency: line hops (lateral/vertical/diagonal) (2 leg/1 leg), pogos (2/1 leg) etc
practice juking not running your routes, play throw em up bust em up, play soccer, tag, basketball, anything with juking

I mean not saying its bad, just wouldnt pay money for a low level plyo progression program

low level plyos will get you somewhere fast if you are rather untrained..but after that it will more or less be a good way to fire up the old CNS.

short sprints=very underrated

i dont see how you dont understand this. That is straight line speed. You can be quick as HELLLL, and still be slow. Look at the wide reciever for for the patriots, Wes something or steve nash.

i disagree with CF.  I dont get it at all.  so he has sprinters work on sprinting form/technique a ton.  Then when it comes to changing direction, which is far more complex he says dont even think about form.  Look, you need to practice consciously changing direction correctly enough so that you can do it sub consciously.

work on sprinting as fast as possible and then breaking down and stopping as fast as possible.

Drop your hips when you break down

then when you can stop on a dime work on stopping and taking an open step that actually moves you in the dierction you want to turn.

Then work on sprinting, breaking down, turning, and accelerating on the direction you want to go.

cut with crisp straight lines

Oh and always look where you want to go it will help you turn quicker.

there is more but that should help.

Whatever happened to that "change of direction" dvd you were working on, Alex?

We'll get it done eventually.

My mom was diagnosed with cancer, then my dad got sick and passed away, and now we are nearing the end of my moms life.  So there has been a ton on my plate.  Heck even my dog got cancer!  So everything besides the job that pays the bills went on the back burner.

Good heavens, what a horrendous period in your life.

The last time I recall you sharing personal stuff you had just gotten married, and it's odd how the internet works in that manner: since I don't know you, I've a bit of a frozen image of you as a happy newlywed, and the next thing I hear is just terribly, terribly awful.

I hope for peace to be upon you and your family moving forward, Alex.
