201012 I will go jump
Thanks everyone for their reply.
Yesterday (sunday). I got smarter and did not do anything intensive.
while my kid do her Run and swim. I just walk/jog on the side... hiked for 30 min to explore some hill beside the swimming pool.
and did about 80 launches walk exercise over the cause of 1 hrs (during those 5 lap walk/jog).

Today is Monday, and i guess My soreness if any, wont appear untill Tuesday (48 hrs later), I will go jump at lunch.
I no longer remember the last time i went jumping....
i remember i wore mask to court.. may be in March? who know.. anyway... enough of suspension...

btw.. i watched NBA final this morning. and.... sucks to see the underdog failed... and... LB James did it again....

nice.

how's your daughter doing? still enjoying running?

This convid 19 pretty much destroyed 2020. We have not enter any running event. but continue to run once a week.
Got her a road bike and learning how to bike with some skill here and there in class ( i have no road bike nor skill myself...)

the pool just reopened this month also. Before that.. she swim 400m in open sea before bike and run.
nothing serious. Winter is coming our way... so open water or outdoor swim will be closed soon... which left with running and bike.

while she bike or run.. i usually Jog myself.. for 1 hrs.... this might be bad for my vert.
i had decided to.... preform some Bounding variation in the track.. while she is in running class... this weekend
Single leg, Double leg, 2 step jump etc..

my vert decreased. but it is not as bad as I expected...
I mean i continue to squat, deadlift, bench, and hang clean for the pass 8 month without jumping.... So i expect to lost my jumping approach...

I went out to jump like 3 times this week!
for the record.

201127 Birthday Jump
with the covid hitting us, this year is probably the year where i jump the less.
anyway. I am very luck... i get to complete my Bday jump today.

although i train day in day out indoor. but i knew... i am not going to preform good at court... so i dont expect much.
but to my surprise... the result is not too shitty.

2 weeks later... (in which i preformed 1 jump session, heading toward my 2nd jump session...)
4th Wave of Covid hit my city.
ALL court and gym and sporting ground is Closed. AGAIN.

First of all, Thanks LBSS and VAG for the support.
Some time.. I mixed up the 2 of you... both are experienced hardcore vert trainer that always give me direct and to the point training advice. I wish everyone here Happy New Year.

Oh yes, I missed Adarq question. My girl is still running with me weekly 30min long run or 6 x 500m sprint.
as for my update:

201231 The Final Jump for 2020

Every year... i have to Jump on my Bday and on Dec 31..
this year is no different.
there only different is all the Court is Closed. I mean.. Court with Gate is locked. Court with no gate is all Fenced off by rope or warning label. Some court is open but the rim is Blocked or even removed.

I went to many court around my work place only to found them all locked or fenced off. Very disappointing. One day, i decided to take my Med ball and just go Toss it in a court 15 min away. During my trip toward the, i head some playing ball in a private court (with in a estate). Which is illegal, i guess the private estate did not Lock or taken removed the rim. Anyway.. so i walk toward my destination... and this is what happen...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQuq76AzE7c
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQuq76AzE7c

Basically is... i found out the NO Gate lock court is fenced off like an CIS crime scene. And i also found out that private court baller is actually that young Girl that i see every day during my training. (i talked about her in chinese in the video) THis girl is extremely hardworking.. like me.. she is constantly looking for court to practice. and she is ahead of me finding this court.
The next few days.. i went to this court to jump and meet up with her dad and talked to him about how impressed i am with his daughter. The dad told me, if u see police coming ur way, run away from that other exit. They have experienced this last sunday morning when more people is playing here.

I told her dad, Ur girl remind me of Kobe. the desire to practice and train in a consistent manner. Lebron once said... when he want to be lazy and take a break... he think of Kobe.. because he know.. some where.. kobe is Training hard. and when u take a break... he is pulling away. This girl remind me of the same thing.... She is practicing somewhere... everyday... when it rain.. she is dribbling the ball in some hallway. (her dad confirmed this with me)

A week later... even this private court.. is no more... the management decided to remove the rim. So i no longer see this girl.
However, I continue to go there, at least here, I have a space to Jump and some thing to Reach for.

And here I am.. last week and last day of 2020. I am Still jumping.
Nothing good... but at least.. i am still doing it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVh7O6E8hHg

AS for 2021.... I had some insight today... in this 40min jump session.
I will make some changes... to my routine.
Won't give up... just yet.

BTW, i made a new frd on IG recently, A vertical Training lawyer which is 10 yrs younger than me .
I see myself in him, may be not as strong, not as handsome, not as skillful, but we have many thing in common in jumping, especially when I was in my Prime/peak.
And he seems to be popular on IG too.. some lifting page feature his fail funny lift once.

peace out. and lets hope 2021 will be better.

210221 Court Reopen This week
The basketball court is officially reopen this week.
But not this court... lol

anyay about 4 weeks ago, a new vertical trainer joined me. He is a beginner... so we meet up once a week for a jump session. using the T00days method.

With the rim removed, I was able to Touch a Black mark above the rim on the board.

The following 3 weeks I am having a bad session back to back, may be because I got myself a VR glasses From US and started researching about it daily sleeping at 2 or 3 am daily.

Anyway, there was this Chinese New year holiday which made me skip a jump session, and sleep is still not enough. But today, I am finally able to touch that Mark again, 3 times in a row, at the end of this 1.5 hrs jump session.

I really want to force myself to sleep early this week and see if I can get better next Sunday.

I got a comment on youtube:

Quote
OH MY GOD YOU'RE STILL HERE! Something randomly reminded me of you and I decided to search for you on YouTube. You look like you're doing great man — you've gotten much stronger! And you look really cool with your new hair and muscles!

I always read your journals in the vertical jump forums 10+ years ago. We've never met or interacted so this is a weird parasocial relationship, but just know that I'm a fan of yours, and thank you for sharing your journey with us. As you always say, Believe in yourself!

Ohhh yes. I remember finding him, there was that shooting around video on yt, with the coins or sth like that at every make, it was impressive that it was just a simple shooting around vid, yet it had music and sound effects and some graphics etc.
Anyone else remembers it? Surely more than a decade old.

221007 Still at 193 lbs and not jumping or lifting

Sorry i did not check on the forum and disappeared.
from my last Log at 193lbs
I was doing cardio every day for more than half a month, until i got a wound that would not heal. so i stopped. exercise for 2 weeks.

and Bang, before you know it... is already Oct 7 2022.
and my weight remain at 193lbs

i stopped all exercise.. include both cardio and weight training...
I am in the worse shape of my life i feel,
my shoulder neck and back is hip and leg is stiff.. i feel like an old man some time..

to be honest... i know i should start doing stretch and mobility exercise since the start of 2022 ... i even followed so many IG page and had a note book ready so i can draw/write all the exercise i should do..

but none of that happened.. and now is already Oct 7 with less than 3 months left.

for some reason.. i decide to log on here... and... what do u know..
i see some frd posted in my journal log.

(in fact i do see Andrew Adarq updating on his IG / FB often about his Partner and his love of truck.... seeing him.. reminded me.. of wanting to dunk... )

i may never be able to dunk on 10... but i should not had stopped lifting or doing plyometric....

btw... winter is around the corner, that is a good enough reason for me to resume Lunch training from work.

(however the ball court seems to turn in to Covid Testing center... last time i visit.... and yes.. in Hong Kong or CHINA... the gov are still very caution about covid...we still wear mask everyday... because the law said so..)

anyway.
thanks for leaving message in my log.
it mean much to me.

My knee no longer hurt any more.. lol... I wonder why.... no jumping or squating at all.. thats why.

221101 2 months left in 2022... and got a news today

Just want to share some shit to the athlete here. ....
I just got a news today

My older Girl (11 yrs old)... made it to the Regional Development Squad for Triathlon ....
She did the bench marking test last weekend..
Running at 3:03 for 800M
(i did the same test myself... and my time is 3:40)

half a yr ago.. i was runing beside her side by side at 500M ... some time she win.. some time I win... but .. we are at same level.

I think it was 3 months ago...when she got selected to Youth Development Squad.... and that make the different..
(I also run when she train..... but i jog slow..while she got pushed by coach hard)
So the Development program.. is where ... my performance got split from my kid...

:(

now... with the regional squad..... training will be harder..
and i think.... it will be much much harder.. if i want to .... tag along and not left behind...

😞 mixed feeling.. just sharing..

The teacher's/parent's ultimate fulfillment is when the student/kid surpasses him. I get it, it is a bit to soon, first time etc, but it is a good thing.
Let the little bird spread her wings and fly, you don't need to fly along, just sit back and enjoy the spectacle !
