Rest Day.

Soreness-
Quads and Glutes- Damn squats!!!

I'll be sprinting tomorrow. I'm planning to do ME sprints of 3x60m and 2x100m. 6 minutes rest between the 60's and 10 minutes of rest between the 100's.

I'll be sprinting tomorrow. I'm planning to do ME sprints of 3x60m and 2x100m. 6 minutes rest between the 60's and 10 minutes of rest between the 100's.

Didn't quite follow the plan as my feet were feeling a bit stiff (achilles tendon and left toe).

Ended up doing ME 2x60m with 6 minutes rest and 2x100m with 10 minutes rest.

I didn't time the 60m but the 2nd one felt better than the first, which is usually the case for me as I get warmed up.

1x100m- 11.9 (11.94)
1x100m- 12.1 (12.06)

I want to try and do 1 sprinting session a week for the next couple of months and hopefully improve these times.

130x3

Pull Ups-

Training-
No Updates

Career-
I've applied to join the Australian Army on a part-time basis (Army Reserves) as infantry. I have a YOU session scheduled for Monday 21st January at 10 am where I'll have a medical assessment, psychological interview and an army interview. If I pass the interview I'll have to take a fitness test, which is a piece of piss (15 pushups, 45 sit ups & 7.5 beep test) and then get sent off for a training camp interstate for 5 weeks.

The reason I applied for the Army Reserves is because I want to keep my civilian job but I want to serve my country and learn new skills. In other developed countries, such as Greece and South Korea all civilians have to undertake military service for 12 months. Although, war and invasion in Australia is unlikely I want to be able to protect my family and country if required.

aren't you more likely to get shipped off to fight a war that my stupid bellicose-ass country wades into and australia supports reflexively? than to have to defend australia from some external threat, i mean.

In all likelihood yes. However, I still want to join to learn new skills, have new experiences, and also to receive the financial benefits- tax free income.

Who do you think the US will start a war with next :P

Possibly. He's pulling 30,000 US troops out of Syria.

Good on you mate. Solid move. I would love to do something like this- Army, Police, Fire, etc but with kids I just can't bring myself to do it. Good luck with everything.

Thanks Coges!

My missus wasn't too happy but after I explained that it was part time she reluctantly supports me. Assuming I get in it could take months before I go off to Kapooka but the sooner the better.

I've been back to work for 3 days. Pretty much got the silent treatment from the managers on Monday (since I told them I wanted to leave before my holiday). The last two days have been better. Job wise there's not much being advertised.

Squat-
60x6
90x4
100x3
110x3
85x9

Pull Ups-
7x4

Treadmill-
I burnt 350 calories but it was a disappointing session.
I ran 11 km/h for 10:30 minutes. After that I attempted to run at 17.7km/h speed for 2:30 minutes but was mentally weak and stopped after 1:45 minutes. Physically I had more in the tank but mentally I just gave up. Maybe I was fatigued from the 10:30 minutes since I usually just walk on the treadmill. Either way disappointing.

3:23 pace is a fast pace to maintain and you haven't been running, don't beat yourself up.

also, it's almost 30s slower per km than eliud kipchoge's WR marathon.  :P :-X

Soreness-
Left big toe  :raging:
I didn't log it in my journal but a few weeks ago I was messing around playing basketball and doing a few max effort single leg jumps (left leg). Out of nowhere I went for an attempt and immediately after my toe was sore. It got better within a day or two and has been relatively normal since but at the start of this week when I went back to work it got aggravated again (wearing work shoes). Today it was soo painful. How the fuck am I supposed to lose weight, train or do anything physically productive when I can't even fkn walk...shiiit!

I think I'm just going to rest for a few weeks. Last year I was injured throughout the entire rugby season because I always tried to push through the pain and train and come back as fast as possible, which did nothing but make the injury worse or lead to another one. Fkn hell :raging:

Edit- Rugby pre-season starts tomorrow on 20th Jan but I've messaged the coach and said I won't be at training for a few weeks but will play this season.
