Rugby-
So my rugby league club that I played for last season is indefinitely suspended and it's still unknown whether us players are suspended for the season as well/banned for playing for other clubs. As a result some of the managers/sponsors of the Bulldogs have been speaking with the Rugby Union affiliation and seeing if we can enter a team. They said no but said players could play for other clubs. Anyway one of the sponsors of my old rugby union team reached out to me on facebook and asked if I wanted to play for south again and said I could play for them and they would waive my fees etc. I hate rugby union but I thought it's better than doing nothing especially since some of my Bulldogs team mates are/were going to play.
This was the message one of the sponsors sent me:
"Hey Michael I would like you to join us down at Southern Suburbs Rugby Union Club this year. Training will start on Tuesday the 30/01/2018 with a possible trial match in 4 weeks, opposition TBC. Also as you know the rugby association holds a pre season barter card cup, which will be held at the back end of March!!
A key component to getting you out here again has been @... and a couple of us from our company!
.... would like to pay for your fees this season and any associated costs (gear, petrol, accommodation etc.) in the hope that we can all band together again and shock some crowds this year!!
Hope to see you out there bro".
Anyway I had my first pre-season training and it just bought flashbacks to why I fkn hate this sport. Some fkn idiot stood on my hand with spriggs and now my right hand is fucked and all swollen. Apart from that the skill level of the players is a joke. I play wing. It's similar to playing as a wide receiver in American Football as you are very reliant (especially in Union) of the players passing the ball. These players can't fkn pass. I'm standing 3-5m away from them at depth instead of just throwing it to run onto they throw it behind you or throw it to you with way too much force making it difficult to catch. Other than that a few of the players + coaching staff were still salty on me for walking out last season so they were talking shit to me and giving me a hard time. Making comments like "are you lost this isn't rugby league' and 'we're the Bulls not the Bulldogs' and just saying I'm not as fast as I used to be etc. hating.
The head coach was joking around asking if they needed me to sign a contract to stay and just making remarks when I was doing drills and criticizing my lack of fitness in the 3km time trial (ran it in 13:12 lol). On the other hand most people were happy that I was back but honestly I just don't have passion for the game. Perhaps if I didn't injure my hand I wouldn't be feeling so down and depressed about the whole thing but right now I'm just ready to walk out again. Right now I'm just thinking why am I wasting my time and putting my body on the line for a game that is being played at a fkn JUCO standard anyway. I'm 27 now. Time to move on...
