Weight 2025-04-11: 168.7
Weight change from yesterday: -1.0
Sleep time: 7h27m
Garmin sleep score (out of 100): 69
Garmin body battery (out of 100): 55

Total steps (watch removed during most sports): 3970 + volleyball
Total distance: 2.0 mi

Weightlifting: None
Other physical activity: 5 games of competitive indoor volleyball

Body status: Body feels like garbage. Felt like I had no lift when jumping during volleyball. Legs are sore, upper body is sore.

Food

Breakfast: Protein shake
Lunch: Lasagna, 2 bread sticks, salad, carrot cake, ice cream, apple pie
Dinner: Happy Joe’s sausage pizza, ice cream sundae
Other: Some pretzels, oatmeal creme pie, ice cream cake
Drink: 16oz white Monster Energy, water, LMNT salt water. Bai drink
Alcohol: 1 IPA, 1 shot

Other

Not sure what has been up with my body the last couple weeks, but I have not felt springy at volleyball. It could be the resumption of weightlifting, but I think it might be a combination of things. I have also had some weird psuedo-cold this week that might be draining my energy a bit. I ate like shit on my birthday which is fine since I know I won’t continue doing it. Plus, all the desserts were really good. I am more disappointed with how my body has been performing than anything else. So I need to figure that out.

Also, my sleep was trash. There is a very clear connection between consumption of alcohol and my sleep quality. Just two drinks messed with my ability to sleep well. According to Garmin, I was awake at 12:15 a.m. for a short time, from 12:46-12:50 a.m., from 1:38-1:48 a.m., a short time at 2:18 a.m., from 2:39-2:51 a.m., and a short time at 3:16 a.m. GROSS. So I am going to keep sticking with my general avoidance of alcohol.

Weight 2025-04-12: Didn't check
Weight change from yesterday: N/A
Sleep time: 6h44m
Garmin sleep score (out of 100): 78
Garmin body battery (out of 100): 82

Total steps: 4389
Total distance: 2.2 mi

Weightlifting: None
Other physical activity: None

Body status: Felt okay. At kids soccer games most of the day so didn't really test my body much.

Food

Breakfast: Protein shake
Lunch: Spicy southwest chicken salad from Chick Fil A
Dinner: Cashew chicken from local Chinese place
Other: A couple pretzels
Drink: 16oz white Monster Energy, water
Alcohol: None

Other

Pretty low key day due to having to visit my mom in the hospital and taking the family out to dinner for birthday stuff we didn't do on the day of my birthday. My sleep/body battery are technically for today, not yesterday. It is interesting how 6h44m of sleep led to both a better sleep score and body battery recharge compared to more sleep the day before but alcohol consumed before bed.

Total steps: 10736
Total distance: 5.5 mi

Body status: Feel decent today. Still battling a cold which seems to have come back with different systems. Slight congestion (could also be allergies), but I have an annoying cough, particularly at night in bed.

Food

Breakfast: None
Lunch: Leftover cashew chicken
Dinner: Pork tenderloin, some Doritos with nacho cheese, apple
Other: None
Drink: 16oz white Monster Energy, water

Cleaned out the garage. Minor cold is annoying. Took kids to the park and played pickleball with them which is not much of a workout. Disappointed that I did not lift Saturday or Sunday, but finding time for everything is difficult right now.

Garmin body battery (out of 100): 64

Total steps: 13104
Total distance: 8.4 mi

Weightlifting: None
Other physical activity: Soccer with kids

Body status: Still sort of sick. Annoying. Interested in seeing how the legs feel tonight at volleyball. Feel okay otherwise. Body battery has actually gone up during the day and is only at 61 right now. Only a 3 point drop since waking up.

Food

Breakfast: None
Lunch: French dip and pub fries
Dinner: Two soft shell tacos, some doritos
Other: Some peanut/M&M mix, not much of it
Drink: 16oz white Monster Energy, water, Diet Pepsi
Alcohol: 1 Strawberry Rhubarb New Glarus beer

Other

Felt like shit at volleyball last week, and I play again tonight, so I am interested to see how my legs feel with basically nothing but rest when it comes to lifting. I do feel like I have been drained by the cold, so I am hoping that since I seem like I’m on the back side of it, I will feel better when playing. But who knows. Will report back tomorrow.

seems like you might benefit from some improvements to your diet. lot of junk food, lot of sugar, not many vegetables or fruits or legumes. would be interesting to see if your health improves (your immediate health, like getting sick or feeling fatigued) if you made an effort to clean it up and diversify it a bit.

i say that with no judgment: i also eat too much sugar and not enough protein. just a thought.
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

Weight change from yesterday: -1.3
Sleep time: 7h22m
Garmin sleep score (out of 100): 55
Garmin body battery (out of 100): 52

Total steps: 5423
Total distance: 2.8 mi

Weightlifting: None
Other physical activity: 5 games 6v6 volleyball

Body status: Fucked from drinking two beers after volleyball. I felt way better playing volleyball. This is most likely because I was sick last week and didn't really think so, and I seem to be getting over it now. But I had very poor sleep quality last night. Overall I really feel okay today, but not optimal due to alcohol consumption.

Food

Breakfast: None
Lunch: Spicy salmon sushi
Dinner: Pork tenderloin, spicy Cheez-its, oatmeal creme pie
Other: Some cinnamon sugar crackers
Drink: 16oz white Monster Energy, water, Bai drink
Alcohol: 2 Easy Eddys

Other

No drinking tonight or possibly the entire weekend to get back on track. Possible lifting tonight since my body feels better. Playing golf tomorrow. Alcohol is alright in the moment but the aftermath is awful even if you're not feeling "hungover".

No offense taken at all. My diet is so bad right now and I feel like I eat dumb shit out of convenience. Last year this time, I was eating pretty clean. I felt way better and I was way more lean. Definitely going to try to work to get away from eating all the "shit" I eat again.

So yeah...going to try to clean it up. I probably need to find a way to assess my fitness too. I pretty go off of how I'm feeling when I play sports, but it's not really quantifiable. Like at least test vertical jump or something. I am not particularly concerned with how much I can lift as much as I am with how I perform functionally.

Garmin body battery (out of 100): 100

Total steps: 4417
Total distance: 2.2 mi

Weightlifting: None
Other physical activity: None

Body status: I feel good. I got plenty of quality sleep after having a really bad night of sleep Saturday night into Sunday. I only really played golf this weekend, so that was the only real form of physical activity that I had. I stood most of the night at a concert, but that's not exactly exercise.

Food

Breakfast: 4 strips of bacon, deviled egg
Lunch: Baked ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, 3 ham/dill pickle roll ups
Dinner: 2 slices of meat lovers pizza
Other: A few Ritz crackers and small piece of cookie bar which was pretty rich, a few honey BBQ potato chips
Drink: 16oz white Monster Energy, water
Alcohol: None

Other

Easter is going to be my last day of eating garbage as often as I currently do. I still don't plan on counting calories or anything like that. If my wife makes something for dinner (which is rarely extremely healthy), I'm just going to eat it. And if I need a snack of some sort outside of a meal, it will only be fruit, vegetable or a source of lean protein. I also need to force myself to hit the weights more regularly and do some other physical activity. It feels like a bad excuse, but work has been stressful lately which has possibly led to me making bad eating decisions and being lazy when I get home. But they are conscious decisions, so there's really no excuse for them.

Still not weightlifting yesterday due to other obligations eating up time. Planning to do an upper body workout tonight. Work still stressful. Home life stressful due to the amount of things we have going on each day.

Weightlifting: Bench press, barbell rows, standing overhead press
Other physical activity: 2.5 mile walk

Body status: Feeling good. Only issue is slight tightness near the top of my right quad. Seems to work itself out if I get moving, but it's noticeable when not "warmed up."

Food

Breakfast: ON protein shake
Lunch: 5 oz. pulled chicken, grape tomatoes, apple, cashews, walnuts, macadamia nuts
Dinner: Pulled buffalo chicken sandwich, grapes, banana
Other: Beef stick
Drink: 16oz white Monster Energy, water

Somehow my weight has dropped a couple pounds over the last few days. Seems to point to water weight being lost, but I am staying pretty well-hydrated. Either way, between what I've been eating, daily activity, and the amount of sleep I'm getting, I'm feeling pretty good.

Volleyball tonight. Body is feeling good so I anticipate playing well. My energy level during the day throughout the week has been better than it has been over the last couple months. I also fall asleep easily. This typically is not a problem for me, but I've just been sleeping well overall.

Felt good playing volleyball last night. Bounce is back in my legs. Today will mostly be a rest day. Playing golf tomorrow and other family obligations will take up almost all of Saturday. Back at it with lifting/exercise on Sunday.
