my savior:

7/17/2010

injuries: middle toe on right foot - toenail is like fubar'd

diet: GOMAD, some meal + 5 bananas, then right now after workout #2: blueberries + turkey sandwhich + pickel + tostitos + ~6 tblspoon of veggie oil + milk

workout #2:
- ~10+ miles of interval sprints and ~mile jogs
- tons of 20-40 yard sprints.. man i was flying tonight... i must have run like 30 sprints total
- jogs felt good too
- last jog home on 1 mile was 7:30, don't know whether to be happy about that or not, considering it was after so much work, no idea, whatever

ok, so it's obvious my body is thirsting for massive kcal's...... so im gonna listen and see what happens.. my work rate is just too high to eat like a bitch.. veggie oil is the key.

the container of veggie oil i buy is 96 servings of 120kcal per serving (tblspoon) @ $2.50 or something.. that's ridiculous.. so i just have to dip my sandwhiches in it or eat it with bread etc.. i already use it in my stir frys.

anyway that's going to help ALOT.

peace

Damn, you're trying to gain weight now; ADD to the maximum. You could probably get some Ritalin and have your workouts crazy intense.

Hey man,

why not add another source of protein instead of pure fat?

$$ :)

if money wasn't an issue then ya that's what i would do.. but i'm confident that the protein intake i have now is enough to let me gain some mass/maintain mass, so i'll just go with the added fat for now to help more with the energy requirements.

i havn't been on supps or anything since last august! damn.. no protein supplement..

peace!

something in my left heel is damaged, i have to be careful.. tomorrow i'll re-eval everything, might have to change things up temporarily until it heels..

BW = 162
soreness: quads
aches/injuries: left heel (really bugging during jumps tonight), right plantar fasciae (got better after deep tissue and a certain stretch).

workout:
- interval sprints for 3 miles.. like 6-7 20 yard sprints, felt great.. really moving good.. heel didn't bug at all.

- jumps: really bad, during warmup jumps my heel was really bugging.. it didn't help that my quads were dead but still, the heel shit got in my head bad.. i only did 1-step lead in RVJ's: 10'4 RL, 10'5 LR.. on SLRVJ's i got: L-SLRVJ = 10'3, R-SLRVJ 10'
- lol really bad shit.. wasn't expecting to jump good after that ten mile shit.. i still can't figure out whether it was the heel that inhibited me or the quads, probably both.. but sprints felt great so.

- walk home instead of sprint or jog, annoyed about heel

- power neutral grip pullups: 5 x 5

done.. bleh.

i really dug my fingers into my heel pad later tonight.. i mean it seems to have helped and i felt some weird shit that i "rolled out", who knows though.

annoying :)

peace

Have you tried rolling with a golf ball? That helped when I had plantar fasciitis.

nah, but i've been looking for something like that.. can't find anything right now though.. using my fingers helped but i can feel some weird stuff in there.. seems all ganked up.

thanks for the advice though, if i had a golf ball lying around (i do somewhere), i'd roll it.. it's definitely the plantar fasciae connecting to the heel.. probably have some tears in there.. i have some tears in my other plantar fasciae too on my other foot heh.. will it blend? i mean, will it adapt? that's the question.. im like a battle of possible-injury adaptation.. my left plantar fasciae adapted in the middle, which is how my right one is bugging out..

peace

ya it's all good.. thanks for the support mang, but ya, i'm known as mr injury prone so stuff was bound to happen sooner or later :) pretty impressive run though without injuries for quite some time.. i've had this plantar fasciaeitisisisisi before.. it originally came after doing sprints ~1 year ago, but something else set it off recently, i think the drops or possibly some weird landings after some single leg jumps.

whatever, i'm about to go workout.. though modified, to much everyone's delight (you'll see when i post it lol).

im bout to chezkenny it up.

edit: just after i posted that it started pouring.. it'll pass though. :)

ok so.... the bodyweight only experiment has ended.. so, the have tons of fun experiment has started..

ok well, i can see myself really wrecking myself on this bodyweight shit again, because, i'll admit it, i'm greedy... the only way to provide significant overload is through depth drops and shock-like protocols... i know I can do it, it's just, do I have the patience to progress so damn slow and still risk injury such as my plantar fasciitis..  my exercise selection is limited on my bodyweight experiment, absolutely no devices / tools except for my GHR, so that leaves me to do lots of crazy shit in order to get results.. is it worth it right now? not sure.. i mean i'd love to complete it, but i also don't want to take waaay too much time adapting to drops/plyos.

i'll blog all this crap eventually and give my thoughts on pure bodyweight, I really think it can be done very successfully, as is kind of proof from how fast I got my RVJ up. plus you know what? i just want to do more stuff, more variety, and have more fun.. i get to use my thick bars, sled, and barbells now.. as well as my dip/pullup belt..

so, what am i going to do now? just have fun and keep up what i was doing, but instead of getting obsessed with my depth drops/plyos, i'll let those progress very-very gradually, which will be doable now that i'm going to mess with weights again.. i don't plan on going crazy with weights though, i'm still going to have a "more-work, lighter load" approach.

so anyway, enough rambling while im taking a massive dump.. awesome workout below :D

BW = 162
soreness: quads
aches/injuries: left heel (PF)

workout:
- 1 mile warmup interval sprints to a plaza where i could sprint on a sidewalk with a roof.. i couldn't sprint outside because of the rain, so this worked out very well
- sprints: 10-20 yard dashes x 5, 40 yard dashes x 4, 20 yard dashes x 3
- .73 mile run home: 4:15 :D
- ^^^ really happy about that.. so many factors going against me: quads were toast, sidewalk/pavement was wet, and i had to stomp for 5 seconds when a car pulled out... im very happy about this number, 4:15 for .75 under those circumstances is ballin'.. i really pushed it so.

circuit:
- adarq-style barbell squat: 4 x 5, 95 @ 2 x 3 singles, 135 @ {5 singles 3 singles 3 singles}
- bar-dips: ? x 3-5, 20 lb on dip belt @ 2 x 3, ? x 5
- 3" thickbar curl: ? x 5-8

i was shocked at how strong my squat was.. i literally could have jump squatted that 135.. all of this bodyweight stuff/sprinting i've been doing has got my hips/quads firing so strong..

ok so i'm very happy about the .73 mile run and the squat.. heel really didn't bug at all during any of that either, but, i didn't jump... so... i might do some dunks tomorrow though.. i figure ill go all out tomorrow, and if it bugs ill just rest it for 3 days while i do weights/sprints/bodyweight etc.

i know im capable of sub 5 minute mile right now, physiologically, but not mentally.. for sure not mentally.. i still have lots of "quit" in my brain.. that subconscious voice telling me to slow down / stop etc.. but with every night that i go all out on .75-1 mile runs, that voice will disappear little by little.. then it's over, possible PR's maybe who knows.

peace

it's the biggest trick in the run game.. go slow to go fast. it doesn't make sense until it smacks you in the face and you're like ....... wtf?
