The caveman , the castaway , the athletic anorexia man, Air Jesus himself!!!  :highfive:  :wowthatwasnutswtf:

Thing went good , some good jumps in there.  Pity you didn't peak but oh well!

Surprised that rim was 10' , you remember how we always thought it looked a couple inches lower. Probably the rim was always 10' and most dunkers lie about their height to get props. Remember some "under 6 feet" dunkers looking huge compared to the rim. I was hoping 9'10'' + peak would happen , that would have you landing crazy shit down.

Jelly legs always happen on something important. Whenever i am about to hit a big milestone i get them, hard to get over it too. I imagine at a dunk contest like that it is much more intense!

U mad bro , your feet jelly?

Target training paces (min/km), calculated from 5K PR 22:49 :
Easy run : 5:48
Tempo run : 4:50
VO2-max run :4:21
Speed form run : 4:02

---

it's the biggest trick in the run game.. go slow to go fast. it doesn't make sense until it smacks you in the face and you're like ....... wtf?

About the mask: if you didn't tell me, I wouldn't even notice it. Extremely well done, 'Drew.

Sick man! That pic of you standing next to those other dunkers made my day. Getting jelly legs is so common during the first few events you enter in a relatively new environment  - I remember when I was running state meets for the first time the adrenalin just got to me and I ran like crap compared to what I usually ran. Considering this was your first contest and it was the freaking Sprite Slam dunk showdown I'm surprised your legs didn't drop out altogether! Nice work.

you know what to attack in your training now! go get it mang!

yup, definitely.. already been focusing on it, so far so good.. i did a little video blog today in car about it, itll probably be up tomorrow or whatever, but it basically goes over what i need to work on... conditioning, bodyweight, slrvj, strength.

You know how you were saying your legs went jello outta nowhere.  And Nightfly said it happens to him.  And I saw ur dunk contest vid on youtube, people commenting on there saying it happens to everyone.

What is it?  I don't get it.  Why does jelly legs happen to everyone who's new to dunk contests?  Is it a stage fright kind of thing? I wouldn't think so cuz you didn't look nervous at all.

well it could be due to plenty of things.. in my little video blog thing that ill upload soon, i compare it to "my first time sparring".. for example, i had been destroying this guy in lighter sparring, just too slick for him, too fast, etc.. for weeks.. then finally it was my time to start 100% sparring, full effort, go for the kill type shit.. and here i had been wrecking this guy easy.. so first time i sparred, i gassed in round 1, had to survive for 3 more rounds, did absolutely horrible, bell in my head rung horribly etc.. next sparring session though i destroyed him, and every session after that..

so for me it seemed more like just a learning experience.. first time sucks, the rest will be better.. but i found out what i need to work on so, i have alot of "data" from being in that event.. i know what i need to do now in order to perform better at another one.

as for nightfly, it could be how he changes his routine up alot and diet the day of.. liquid diet, day of.. next dunk contest he's just doing everything normal, heavy squatting day before, eating normal day of, etc.. because if he's "normal", he'll be flying.. no need to try and peak if he can't get to normal..

next contest for him will be good

other than that, alot of people are just nervous.. in a bad way.. cant speak for them tho.

ya, at least it wasn't completely tragic.. that makes me not care as much about how i did.. i did land a few nice looking dunks that day so, much better than coming back having missed every dunk etc, that would have been horrible haha.

ya like, sometimes the rims do look low though from footage.. like, atlanta sprite showdown hoop looks low.. this hoop, from the footage i uploaded, looks crazy high.. alot of people commenting about it.. and people there were literally pissed, liek people trying to get into the contest.. they were saying it was "10'6" lmao..

as for the heights, definitely on that.. i mean they claim werm is 6'2, i mean, unless i don't know my own height, then perhaps he's 6'2 but he's obviously 3" taller than me or so.. and i'm 6'1 so.. myree looked about my height, airdogg a little taller.. los a little shorter than werm.. man i dont even know how Los jumps the way he does.. he looks REALLY led-footed, it's odd.. he's really strong i guess, but, he looks really heavy for his build and has no "bounce" form visual observation.. he seemed to be having a bad day though so who knows, but he still flys.

it would have been interesting if it was 9'10, definitely.. only prob with that would be peopel talking shit about how the rim is low.. i bet the people in miami would be talking shit lmao.. i think it's a reason airdogg didn't land his best dunks, he seemed phased by it.. rim actually felt 10'2, i wish i had a tape measuerer or something.. some guy who worked for sprite said he'd go get one but he couldn't find it..

ya i just have to prepare even better for next contest.. i know what i have to do, become a conditioning FREAK again & get my vert way up.. also, SLRVJ seems to be the key for me.. because, my DLRVJ felt toast that day but SLRVJ felt great.. i think my SLRVJ is always "decent", and lately it's "damn good".. for example, if my legs feel jelloish, i'd still be able to get up SLRVJ but DLRVJ would be toast, for some reason i just handle jello better with slrvj.. every time ive done slrvj sessions, because of jello legs & not being able to dlrvj, my slrvj works... tis a sign.

hah ya.. it came out good, did it in like <5min, glad it looks ok.. was bugging me that the guy was blocking the full final 8, wanted to see the height comparison.

ya unfortunately it happens to me at times.. it seems to happen though when im doing something "new".. first time sparring, first high school bball games, first time dunking where i grew up, etc.. always happens the first time then goes away.

ya.. that "first time" effect really sucks.. it's even worse with running, because it's not just one powerful effort.. if you tighten up/HR goes too high, while running, man you are toast.. can turn a 17min 5k into a 22min .. heh

hah ya.. thanks alot man.. the sprite i drakn during the contest helped.. my protein/gatorade shakes i brought helped too.. i drank 4 sprites during the contest.. 1 before i landed that two hander, then 3 more while i was sitting there just watching (not having made final 4 etc).. body was so toast.

pc man

going to be super anorexic next contest, guaranteed.. gonna be floating :F

ok so... i threw down some very nice dunks today off SLRVJ........ it seems i can dunk harder/better with LESS vert than my double leg, because of how much distance i get on my SLRVJ jumps.. also, my form looks pretty damn good in the plant of my good SLRVJ jumps, man shit is about to get interesting..

these pics dont do the dunks justice, i really threw these dunks down SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard.. video probably tomorrow.. pretty amp'd about how good my single leg is..

funny thing though, i did 100 layups (50 left, 50 right) with long sleeve shirt on before these jumps... so i felt fatigued as hell, but then some kids showed up to talk to me about my dunks, and i started flying.. snapped out of the fatigue really well.

ya know SLRVJ is interesting i find it easier to catch a lob(as in i've never been able to do it off two feet before)off of one foot for sure...i've never actually dunked off of two feet...only one...i just prefer taking off of two feet...more power i feel

it also is much easier for me to attempt dunks on submax off of two feet(can't land em)jumps too...i guess i feel like i have more control when i'm not trying to jump so hard...plus when i jump maximally i only seem able to try and rip the rim off...i can't just put the ball in easy like i can off softer jumps...what say you about this all?

No offense, but don't you ever eat real food?
Goal is to dunk.

Vertical needed to dunk: 40"

Current vertical : 38.5"
