shit, Jan 1 2011 is right around the corner........ remember I said I was going to hit my head on the rim by Jan 1, 2011? ok well i'm kind of far off from that right now, let's assume the highest i've gotten as of recent is 38, i'm 9" off from hitting 47" which would be hitting my head on the rim.. 9" may seem like a shitload, which it is, but i'm still going to make a push for it.

so, I think my max-effort jump sessions will consist mostly of ME jumps, not much dunks.. I need to work on summoning all of that power via the strength of my will, and I need to make EVERY jump count, no "shitty jumps" because of bad lobs, this means 100% quality during my jump sessions. I'm also pondering the use of shock, once again, though I don't really have a 30" box, so I may just do shock from 18" (4x10 eventually, starting out at 4x5). I may incorporate that pretty soon, so that I am going full force 4x10 come december 1.

I'm going to keep my current lifting routine that i'm on, i'm having alot of fun with it, and i'm on the right track considering i'm back to incorporating high volume BW lunging, which is freaking my legs out hardcore. I just may in fact have enough pop come Jan 1 to get very close to my goal if I just put everything together and make the push.

I need to also get in a few jumps @ the LA fitness because I felt very springy in there on that wood floor, I had some crazy jumps that day, and I'm jumping higher now on the outdoor courts.. so I may be getting a little extra pop off an indoor surface with my zoom waffles, have to look into that and test it out.

For december, I need to phase in 4x5 DJ's, and get completely adapted to 400-800 BW lunges + moderate volume squatting, so that for December, it's not tapping into my jumping at all, then I can drop frequency on squat/lunge and get a bit more recovery, while increasing 4x5 DJ sessions to 4x10. That should give me alot of power by Jan 1.

All of that requires I don't get injured, so, have to make sure not do anything stupid either.

ok ok just was on my mind before i sleep

peace

mannn I'm waiting for the day when we'll be able to put in a pre-determined amount of effort and be certain that we'll get to whatever goal we have in the pre-set amount of time...

i don't think that'll EVER happen hehe. too many external factors, too much internal variability.

shock? care to elaborate?

shock = true "plyometrics." get up on something high, step off of it. either rebound (depth jump) or just stick the landing (depth drop).
Muscles are nonsensical they have nothing to do with this bullshit.

what LBSS said, it's 4x10 depth jumps from around 30" box height, something that people shouldn't do unless they've been training for a long while :)

check out my "Instant RFD Part 1" article in blog section, it goes over a few of my shock experiments.

peace !

11/1/2010

bw = 151
soreness = glutes/quads/hamstrings, considerable
aches/injuries = left ankle a little
fatigue = mental (not much), physical (moderate)

EDIT: diet: keep forgetting to log this..
- 4 protein shakes (16 oz whole milk + 20g protein), 3 eggs sandwhich on 2 slices multi grain breead

workout: dribble + reactive + strenf
- ~45-60min of bball dribbling (very explosive)
- ME MR tuck jumps: 4 x 10
- some jumps off 2 steps, head height: hit my head on some sign that is ~9' high, it's anywhere from 8'10-9', no lower than that.. hit my head hard on it.. it was fun, plan on video taping it next time i go to do a session like this, which will be friday or saturday.. i'll try to smash the sign off the chains holding it up, the sign says "pizza stop" lolol... never thought about doing that before at this shopping center, it was very fun, around 10 jumps.

circuit:
- deadlift: 135 @ 8, 8, 8, done
- db shrugs: 60 lb @ 25, 25, 25, 20, 20, 20, hold for time: dumb
- widest grip pullups: 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8

going to do some calf raises later, 5 x 50 probably

peace!

not questioning it, but what's the pathway u think high rep 'strength' work increases ur max str? or what are u after with 400-800 lunges/session? cant even think at increasing work capacity through that
re-evaluate, daniel-san, re-evaluate

try 400 walking lunges, 4 x 100 tot, see what happens to you.. your legs will be smashed, quads (vmo especially), hamstrings, and glutes, will be demolished (calfs aren't demolished but they are hit nicely).. now do that every 4th/5th day for a few weeks, you'll notice your legs are bigger & considerably stronger, and that you are able to recover very fast from those sessions (instead of 5 days soreness, you have 1-2).. now notice your squat should have gone up.

high volume lunging is just a shitload of work in a weak rom (deep lunge, ball of foot).. you really can't lunge with a bar/db's on ball of foot in that position either, it becomes too intense.. so, after adapting to 400-800 total reps, you'll see increased strength, bigger legs, and alot less reluctance to do things unilaterally-ballisticly.. a new "confidence" is gained for explosive/ballistic single leg movements such as jumps/bounds etc.

bottom line; strength increases, mass increases, work capacity increases, cns is not drained.

peace

Well then why not do hundreds of bodyweight full squats?
