went to movies + ate 1.5 lb of 'frozen yogurt style' ice cream (peanutbutter) + peanutbutter m&m's and coconut shavings.. man that shit killed me.

10/17/2010

bw = 150.6 <---!@$!@$!@$!@$!@ sickckskckck
soreness = none
aches/injuries = none
fatigue = medium

my plan to 'peak tues' got wrecked, mom coming over with pizza for my grandpa sooo.. and wednesday i have to go out for something.. so that leaves tomorrow.. my dad comes home late which will only give me like 30min to dunk but i'm only trying to land some max height anyway, so thats fine.. hope i can do that tomorrow.

since the unsuspecting change of plans, i did some unconventional shit which i used to do back when i was peaking RVJ last year.. it gave me shin splints last year but i bet i'd be fine doing it now.. let's see what happens.

workout:
- nearly max effort pogo jumps: about 20 sets of 2-5 in 1.5 hours, off and on, lots of rest in between.. couldn't go max effort cause of the 8' ceiling, don't wanna hit my head on it.
- glute bridges: in the process, but 6-10 x 50, insane glute strength right now, it feels weightless eheh

ill probably do light pogos throughout the day tomorrow.

peace!

bw = 152
soreness = none
aches/injuries = none
fatigue = low

felt very strong throughout the day..

workout #1: dunks
- got up real good, pics above.. didn't land much, just 5 dunks in ~40 minutes including warmup etc... but had a bunch of really hard/nasty misses
- pretty short rest overall
- hit a dunk off dribble.. first dunk attempt of the session, hard one hander hah.
- right wrist hurting, slammed it into the rim coming down, a bunch of times

workout #2: strenf.
- pullups: bw(5), bw+5(10), bw+5(10), bw+5(10), bw+5(10), bw+5(10), bw+5(10), bw+5(10),
- s.a. db row: 50 lb @ 15,15,15,22
- glute bridges: 110, 110, 100, 110, 150,
- calf raises: 50, 50, 50, 50, 50

can't wait to hit sub 150 lb bw, very soon, within 7 days im sure of it@$@! hopefully by thursday.. plan to peak again thursday and freaking land some insane shit.

prediction:
- tuesday = tuck jumps + squat singles (parallel) + dips, glute bridges + calf raises later
- wednesday = pullups, tons of pogo hops later on
- thursday = stim up, land nasty dunks..... i don't know what time i'll be able to dunk thursday come to think of it.. i don't need much time though, just wanna land a few max height and dribble up two hander.. if i could start at 9pm im good.

peace

nasty dunk miss ..lol :P

based on your experience how much of the vj do you feel comes from the glutes?  hwo much from quads?   how much from other muscles?

well i've always said vj is quad/calf/glute dominant, sure hamstrings are important, but the former muscle groups play a much larger role in vertical displacement.. quads/glute/calf are all equally important, i cant give a percentage or anything.. people downplay the calfs but really, the calf/achilles provides so much energy/force production at triple extension, for example, i can pogo hop pretty high which is hardly any knee bend, that is primarily a calf/quad/glute movement.

quads technically need to be the strongest because of the plant, if they are weak, you collapse in the plant.. so quad strength is major, generally they are easy to strengthen though so it's usually no one's concern.

at the end of my dunk sessions, i am nearly always achy in my quads/calfs, only rarely in my hamstrings..

other than that, powerful arm swing becomes important.. it can add alot to the jump by producing a stronger triple extension.

peace

EDIT: regardless, everything needs to be strong (explosively & reactively): quads, calfs, glutes, hamstrings, lats/ delts/ chest/ core
