bruh look at my food spend so far this year, according to my bank spend summary:

2019-01: 1,118
2019-02: 1,107
2019-03: 736
2019-04: 941
2019-05: 816
2019-06: 527
2019-07: let's see if i can get it under 500! lol.

pretty crazy tbh.. i've mentioned in my log before, i spend most of my money on food. (it bugs me, spend so much on food)

that quick summary shows me getting fat in Jan/Feb. I got hurt Feb 16+. Then I got hurt more in late feb/mach etc. Towards the end of April, I hit 163 lb & the food spend was almost back up to 1k, with much less running.

with very strict eating for most of May and all of June, i'm back down to 151 lb in July.

dno kind of interesting.

if i got my avg monthly food spend from 1100 to 500, i'd save $7,200+ a year.. lmfao. insanity.

the biggest change in June, was a change in my grocery shopping: ie, buying groceries, but making sure I empty out my entire fridge before getting groceries again. For example, that's why today for lunch all I had was basmati rice + an avocado.. it's basically all I had left. I have two potatoes tomorrow & some gouda/cheddar jack cheese/butter: so I might not even grocery shop tomorrow either. I just keep trying to string it along for as long as possible and eat every ounce. In fact, I still have orange juice, grape fruit juice, some bananas, and milk. So I could probably extend it until Tuesday or even Wednesday. It's kind of fun trying to do that.. :ninja:

my last grocery shopping trip was basically:
- a ton of bananas
- jugs of milk
- oj
- grapefruit juice
- 3 potatoes
- 4 jalapenos
- 2 red bell peppers
- 1 green bell pepper
- basmati rice
- garlic
- milk chocolate almonds
- roasted/salted almonds
- asparagus
- corn (the corn might be getting bad.. so i might have to throw it out unfortunately, screwed that up)
- 8 avocados (lool)

that area I ran today was part of a little experiment. I've always loved running at this park, but wanted to see more of the area. It's impressive, basically 3 parks strung together where you can run on grass for pretty much all of it (~5 mi in one direction) - a runner's paradise for a Floridian. And it's near the everglades, so theoretically you can trek across some path and get to the everglades, and run on the embankment etc.. (which is kinda scary, but people do it - mostly cyclists ride out there).

in addition to that, it has nature areas (boardwalk-ish stuff throughout some forests), tons of lakes/canals, a water park, 3 dog parks, an amphitheater, and they hold state h.s./college XC meets there.

pretty sick.

it's a really beautiful area.. and unfortunately very expensive. but an affordable option pops up occasionally, luckily.

so long story short.. i'm trying to find a place out there. it's all homes near the park, no apartments etc.. so i've actually been looking to rent a house.

tried touring a few but they got rented out. going to tour one tomorrow which I actually like better than the other two. the back yard (beyond the fence and small canal) is basically right on the "everglades" (a huge portion of land which leads directly to the everglades).

i've checked out some apartments near work, "big city" life just isn't for me -> especially with two very active dogs. It's only slightly cheaper too.. the apartments near the beach (near my work) are pretty expensive. I hated having to use an elevator, and hearing the sounds of the city -> music from various restaurants, traffic, etc. Down by the swamp, you hear bugs/birds/nothingness, it's great.

so instead of finding a spot near work, i'm trying to find a spot near the swamp (20 min from work lmao, which is still closer than I am now (40 min)). i want to heal up, and just run/relax out there. lots of peace & quiet, not much traffic at all, safe, dog friendly, etc. If I lived out there & my injuries were healed, I could get my mileage way up very safely (all soft surfaces) with tons of visual stimulation because of how many different grass spots you can run.

i've been obsessing about this for a month or so.. want to find something soon & setup shop.

also, no roomates/living with family members etc. just me, 2 pups, and some long overdo relaxation.

Sounds so nice. I sometimes get a bit overwhelmed living in a big city, and even though where I am is pretty quiet as far as relatively central London goes, I miss proper quiet. Hope I can move out to the country side one day.

ya man, proper quiet is where it's at.

human noise pisses me off, much more so now than at any time before. I wear earplugs alot, in the house & at work etc. Just trying to drown everything out. eeeh.

same! i need the land, and quiet.

there's no country side in SFL.. so that means moving out of SFL eventually.

SFL is so congested. that congestion has been bugging me for a long time now.

I really liked Clermont when I was passing through. Some beautiful homes sitting on sizable land. That's what I care most about, land. If I ever buy a home, i'll care more about that than the size of the home. A small (clean af) home sitting on a few acres would be awesome. Would have to move up north for that, or out of Florida completely. A home sitting on a few acres in SFL is worth several millions. eh!

rest day. feeling great. felt injury areas microscopically but, also feels like the injured surface area is decreasing.

07/09/2019:
- morning bw: 149
- tricep "skinfold" shrinking
- calves a bit tight, left more so.
- biceps really tight/fatigued in the evening, feels odd.

dinner:
- red lentil pasta w/ spanish olive oil + salt/pepper/basil + a small amount of butter

09:45 AM: bw
- strong
- 5+sec paused dead hang ng pullups: BW x 7
- full dips: BW x 9

nothing in the evening. just relaxed.

might relax again tomorrow. not sure yet.

as you can see, trying to run light/long then rest more. i'd like to start waking up early again, no idea how i'm going to pull that off tho.

rest.

same: injured areas feeling it a bit more with less activity. progressive "worse" each day of rest. weird stuff.

ice debacle:

iced (real ice double wrapped in a paper towel) my sacral spine/tailbone tonight for 45 minutes while watching a movie.. i don't ice areas for that long, 30 minutes is usually the max. anyway i felt fine.. but, after a few minutes of walking around, my sacral spine area started getting excruciatingly painful. I started worrying about "frost bite". I also couldn't pee. it was kinda scary.. i think i just "froze" some nerve endings too much. Pain lasted for about 15 minutes, was freaky. 30 minutes after I was fine though. obviously not a good idea to ice that long, but was just weird experiencing the affects of over-icing like that, especially in that area. when i was like 16 or so, docs told me that an operation on my sacral spine had a 30% chance of making me lose sensation to my dick, so i said forget that. seems like over icing that area temporarily shut down urination/etc. creepy.

went food shopping.. thank g*d.

07/11/2019:
- morning bw: 150
- feel pretty good

dinner:
- basmati rice + sauteed green pepper (huge one) / jalapeno + avocado + roasted almonds + cashews + salt

10:00 AM: bw
- kinda weak
- 1s paused dead hang ng pullups: BW x 7
- full dips: BW x 8

more rest.

longest leg drain ever. 1.5 hours. legs felt fine after. did some mfr/stretching while also doing the leg drain. got annoyed when i went to do it, and didn't feel any progress. so after that, i also did some crazy stretching.

i feel like running but, i'm also trying to be responsible. but, even after 4 days rest, nothing seems to improve etc. so do i run or just keep resting, the dilemma. i'm leaning towards resting. just keep resting until it's completely gone. but that may not come for a very long time. could have jacked something up in there pretty bad, makes no sense.

maybe i should get a boxing gym membership and hit the bag, some cross training.

and maybe i need to just do some long walks occasionally.

not running is annoying because, running doesn't really make it worse.... heh. but in my mind, i feel like it's not allowing it to heal fully.

bleh bleh bleh.

07/11/2019:
- morning bw: 152

dinner:
- crispy chicken sandwich with bleu cheese, from charm city burger, and my plantain chips.

did some crazy stretching. def a learning experience going on.

some epic long holds.. literally ~30 min or so, standing right hamstring/glute stretch: propping my leg up on a high padded stool, shifting it around a bit but maintaining the stretch, while doing work on my laptop. crazy. felt so many odd sensations deep in my sacral spine. they also persisted for a while afterwards. legs feel great right now. the fact that i can do a hold like that for so long (and 1.5 hour leg drain etc), means i've made some serious flexibility progress.

but ya did lots of long holds throughout the day, mostly right hamstring/glute/sacral spine related. also did my some long holds (def ~15 min or so a few times) with legs out to the sides touching the floor, shifting that around a bit etc. that feels great because it targets adductors as well, probably the tightest muscle group on my body (that I know of).

the sensations in my sacral spine from some of these long holds makes me "feel" like something in is teetering on loosening up, and causing a pain relief chain reaction for all of the other spots. i could be completely wrong, but that's what it felt like when i released it for those few days, like 3-4 weeks ago.

i'm becoming jeac cousteau with this stretch stuff.

07/12/2019:
- morning bw: 152

after 6 PM, ate alot. probably weigh alot tmw morning.

want to run but, might just walk tomorrow instead.

legs feel great. injured areas feel great. long hold stretch magic.

time for a hard run! jk. that was my mistake last time.. felt great for 3-4 days then did a damn mile race.

need to get in a month of pain free work before even considering racing again. tbh i don't even give a sh*t about racing atm.. this injury helped get it out of my blood stream a bit. i care about going on long slow 2-3 hours runs etc, with no pain during/after etc. just enjoying running itself. that's what i want/love.

might go on a nice slow long walk in the heat in a sec.

light walk.

injury areas felt great all day. legs barely sore from the crazy stretching. nuts.

not going to do anything tomorrow. probably walk again monday.

07/13/2019:
- morning bw: 154

dinner:
- sauteed broccoli + jalapeno in olive oil/ginger oil, basmati rice, avocado, salt

02:00 PM: standing up, waiting for my car to get detailed for 3 hours
- uhh..
- so, i figured it would take 30-45 minutes.. and it just kept going, and going, and going.. so, instead of just asking for my keys and getting out of there, i decided to just stick it out no matter how long it took (an exercise in patience). it literally took them 3 hours to wash the car, clean the outside/inside, and clean the headlights. there was a massive queue, so many people just dying to get out of there.. other people waiting as long or longer than me etc. was incredible.
- oh and i just told myself, next time i'll clean it myself.. eeh!

06:15 PM: light walk: 2h30min w/ hills ::: (grass, overheat) /// HR under 100 for the walk, beast.
- https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/3842404107
- fasted (soo.. like 20 hour fast)

96 BPM avg for a 2.5 hour walk in the heat, and with hills.. lol. nuts.
