got a little excerpt in a "local news" article. funny how they stick quotes around something you didn't say.. lol.

https://coralspringsconnection.wordpress.com/2018/09/08/coral-springs-hosts-5k-remembrance-run/

Quote
Andrew Darqui won second place overall for men. “I came and second last year and I liked being a part of this race. I was hoping to win first place,” he said. on

"I came AND second" -> :(

it was a weak interview. I said:

"I came in 2nd last year, and 2nd this year."

"I love Coral Springs races."

"Hopefully next year i'll try again, to get first."

The reason why I bring it up, is it's just odd to me.. guy didn't have a recorder/etc, and he basically built quotes from memory to write that short article.

Apparently two people said "I liked being a part of this <>", me (I didn't) and this girl:

"Sally Fowler said, “I liked being a part of this run."

lol.

I mean it's cool whatever but I find it odd that people would do such a job.

I CAN HEAR AGAIN

went to urgent care. took them like 40 minutes no lie, to unblock BOTH ears

both were completely blocked

the right one, which was 100% deaf, took like 15 minutes.

the left one, which I had been able to hear out of, until they put the drops in (and then it went deaf too), took like 25 minutes. It was actually worse than the other ear.

that was crazy.

now as i'm typing, I can hear sounds I haven't heard in a long time, even just the sounds of the keys, sound so much different/clearer. lmao.

 :almostascoolasnyancat: :wowthatwasnutswtf:

EDIT:

blood pressure was 110 / 60.

nice. ;f

jfc. did they say how it might have happened? like, how did it get so bad?

nope.

i imagine it's been bad for quite a while, haven't seen a doc in a few years - and they give your ears a quick check so, they would have said dude we need to unblock your ears.

i wear ear plugs alot (sleep and work). could have something to do with it. i've been wearing them for a long time though, didn't have problems before.

maybe running actually attributed, causing more stuff to drip into my ear?

dno..

but i now know what the signs are and how to deep clean them.

my left ear is still a little funny - feels a little weird.. they said there was one very tiny piece still on there that they couldn't get off. the doc really tried to get it off, just wouldnt break loose. wonder if it's actually chiseled slightly into the ear drum.

unblocking the left ear was actually pretty painful at times. They had to stop several times. Unblocking the right one was absolutely no pain. That's why I think this last remaining tiny "piece" could have something to do with that.

my ears are considerably better now. My right ear feels brand new. Left ear feels like it's been given an upgrade.

Also, I was finally able to put in a left ear plug "deep into my ear", couldn't do that before (pain, probably pushing the buildup into my ear drum, might explain the last small piece too).

I might try to use some drops in my left ear, a few weeks from now - see if I can get that last piece out, if it doesn't come out naturally. Going to give it a break until then.

pc!

going to stop weighing myself.

also going to stop looking at my watch for a while.

just trying to free my mind of some useless dependencies.

as for the watch: will record my runs, but will try not to even look at the data. previously when i'd go "no watch", i'd still obsess about my data afterwards. Now i'm going to try and not even look at the data. Going to be a bit odd, but, want to unshackle my brain a bit from knowing how fast/slow i'm actually running.

as for weight: going to not give a fu*k for a while.

"out of sight, out of mind"

:D :ibrunning:

plan to double speed tomorrow, plus high volume lunges in the evening.

i'd love to start focusing hard on these lunges, doing some insane sessions, see what happens to my legs/speed (when I race).

light + speed.

feel a bit weird since getting my ears unblocked. actually feel kinda "dizzy" (very slight at times). it's weird.

first day not looking at watch AND not looking at pace data. I took screenshots but didn't look "in" to them, so no clue about the actual paces etc.

I even disabled my resting HR widget........

about to sleep.. waking up at ~3:30 AM EST to watch the Berlin Marathon. Kipchoge is in shape to break the WR, don't want to miss that. :ibrunning: :ibrunning: :ibrunning:

I have a 5k race on September 25th (i think that's the date). I'll go back and look at my data after that race.. haha.

def feels weird but I like it so far.

legs felt solid after lunges. left hamstring was a little sore during the lunges, but overall, pretty much adapted.
