as for biggest area of improvement, it's definitely my "long tempo" runs. It's pretty difficult for me in training, to hit a hard tempo 5 miler right now. Most of my training is either short & fast (<= 1mi or repeat strides etc) or slow (>= 8:XX, possibly with a progression going down to 7:XX/6:XX).

so that "long tempo" is just not in my toolbox right now.

overall mileage is there.

speed is there.

vo2max is there (speed/races).

long & slow is there.

proper tempo isn't. not surprisingly, I don't actually enjoy these kinds of runs. the stuff in the middle makes me feel like crap.

hills aren't. i don't do them as often as I should.

so, hills & proper tempo = areas for improvement.

To put it into perspective, this Nacho Hernando guy (rare local elite), often does 1 hour runs with 5 miles tempo in the middle (5:0x-5:1x per mile). He does it 2-3x/wk it seems. I don't do anything like that.

morning hamstring flexibility = loose, left clicky, bleh!
morning calf flexibility = loose, slightly thick
morning adductor flexibility = loose
toenails: 2 on left foot, 2 on right (black)
feel = good but tired

- 5k watch: didn't register, stood around at the finish so.. either course was short (3 other people @ 3.05 mi instead of 3.1) or GPS issues (tons of tight turns). looks like it was a little short.

if a bandit is fast... I still try to beat them... lmao. Don't know who this kid was, but he was crazy impressive. It was basically a photo finish, he might have gotten me by a hair if he had a bib. I literally leaned, almost dove, to try and beat someone who didn't have a bib. I knew he was banditing and it still didn't matter.. Honestly, proud of myself for that.

I hope they have drone footage of the finish. It was a pretty interesting finish. I asked, and got some obscure answer saying after the photos are posted, but not confirming they have footage of it.

Looked up the 2OA guy's results on athlinks. I think he's done 2:44 for the marathon, 17's 5k, and a 4:50 mile. A good W, especially on back2back!

him, his wife, and I had a good post-race chat, really good people. From Wisconsin/Minnesota etc. I think his wife got 2nd for women. They came down for their anniversary, found the race, and did it. Pretty cool!

He kept looking at my Kenya bracelet. We didn't talk about it but.. Those Kenya bracelets are straight up FIRE. :F Watch, he'll get one.

oh also.. my TAMARAC/KENYA Flag bracelet is coming soon. They sent me a DM, similar to this photo, with mine on there. All I saw was the TAMARAC part, which is just black letters on white background, which is what i wanted.. can't wait to see it mixed in with the kenya flag on the other side tho. I'm sure it'll look slick. I wanted this one to be pretty simple/plain. I'll probably do some crazier ones for my next ones.

I heard about it from my boss (Dominik), brother of the victim, yesterday morning. One of the worst phone calls/talks i've ever had. My stomach was torn apart as he started to tell me. I'm talking his very first words, before I had any idea what was going on, you could just tell something awful happened. Plus you could hear hospital machines in the background.

I met his brother (Sandor) once when he came to the office, seemed like a great guy. The guy I work for is one of the nicest/coolest people i've met. I don't even refer to him as "boss" when I make posts, I say "my friend" or "good friend" etc. Just a really good dude.

Also that dog i've posted about on my IG (Tank), that's Sandor's dog. Dominik is always taking it out to get ice cream or steak dinners etc.

I have no idea why this happened, nor do most people right now. All I know is this seems to happen very often in the US. While searching for the story, I found another article about an ex-con recently who sucker punched a dad of 5, completely unprovoked, killing him. This guy only got "3-10", and he'll probably be out after 2.

Just awful..

Also, the fact that they don't have this guy's plates in crystal clear video/photos is absolute garbage.

Hoping they catch this dude soon. Not sure how he won't be caught, just too much footage out there of him now, even though it's garbage quality footage, people know who he is. So senseless though.. he ruined many lives, and most likely ruined his own life, for what? bleh.

That was his dog (Tank). He brought him in to work that day, in that backpack. That's the only time I met him.

Tank was almost dead a month ago or so. Sandor canceled a vacation with Dominik to stay home with Tank, and spent like $3,000+ to get him a major operation which removed some 1+ lb tumor. Tank's been doing good now. Man that dog is going to miss him. :/

I made it on to a promo photo for the Vista View Ultra 360 race :D



I commented that i'm hoping to do it solo next year.. nice. Glad I put that out there. Pretty sure I can win it. It's a 6 hour race on a hilly mulch trail, most laps wins. I run 20 miles on that path for fun sometimes. I'd need 35+ to top3. I'd need 40+ to "guarantee" a win. I mean it's not often someone gets 40+. Elite ultra runner ran it once, he did 50.4 miles.
