Can players still head to the NBA as soon as they finish high school?

damn i forget.. maybe they can't.

I went to a couple of games this year and saw this guy play live and also warm up before the games. He didn't play a lot of minutes and the offence wasn't set up around him so if you look at his stats they weren't that impressive.  Nevertheless he was deadly from the 3 point line. In warm ups he hits the 3 automatically and barely ever misses. He's also got great hops!

"Education is obviously important. But what are you really getting out of it if you only go for one year?"

truth.

i was hoping to see TJ in the dunk contest, he can definitely fly.. he's got some sick cellphone video dunks on YT.

DJ Stephens has to be the highest jumper in the NBA right now.. maybe he doesn't get enough minutes to be considered in this thread, but:

that's insane.

go duke.
go blue.

Grayson Allen makes me want Duke to lose. I'm a Duke hater until Allen is gone.

INSANE mistake by a player for Vanderbilt.. Up 1, intentionally fouls Northwestern with ~14s left. Then Northwestern goes on to hit 2 freethrows, and win. That has to be a top 5 mistake EVER.

and he's a lefty...  :headbang:

i want to see some spring/summer league footage of him against bigger high schoolers.. i mean he's enormous, so he makes normal sized people look small.. but alot of the footage in that mixtape, he's just massive compared to everyone. Just curious to see him around a bunch of mcdonald's all-american level people etc.

i dno, by the time he's 18, he'll probably head right to the NBA.

his handles/jumper look solid.

and ya, i don't think there's been this much justifiable hype since lebron.

love it.

two months to prepare, after all that foundation you've been laying? run the mile, shoot for 4:30.

:ibrunning: :ibrunning: :ibrunning: :ibrunning: :ibrunning: :ibrunning: :ibrunning:

unfortunately i think i'm nowhere near 4:30 right now.. 4:55 - 5:05 MAYBE. But I haven't run over 0.45 mi non-stop in like 2 months. So no idea where i'm at. Today with crappy legs I ran 0.33 mi @ 4:54, which is ok considering i've been sick and my legs felt dead.. but stretching these speeds out to a mile right now seems like it will be rough.

but ya, i'm thinking 800m or mile. Once I get healthy again, I need to start (low frequency) trying to extend out the speed i've been working on lately. Running with glasses made that very difficult, but now i'm back to no-glasses because I can read my phone fine.. Breathing feels alot tougher with my glasses on.

Bio: Morning

last night's sleep: 6 hours
last night fell asleep: 7 AM
wakeup = 1 PM
- took a nice nap though from 5 PM to 7 PM
bw = ?
morning resting heart rate = didn't measure
soreness = none
aches = back of neck maybe - from computering
injuries = none
quad stretches throughout the day = none
standing desk (when on computer): no
feel = ok
water = alot
mosquito bites: 0

Session: Evening

6 PM

calisthenics/BW

dead hang (no pause at the bottom) neutral grip pullups: BW x 14 :headbang:
deep dips: BW x 14  :headbang:
dead hang (no pause at the bottom) pullups: BW x 10
deep dips: BW x 13
calf raises: BW @ 3 x 50

decided not to pause at the bottom of my pullups tonight, to see what I can hit.. happy with it. Normally I pause ~3-5 seconds or so.. so these were deep but no pause, just right back up.

actually felt decent today, could have probably gotten a session in.. Hoping tomorrow I can get one in.

also someone linked me an 'open track meet' on May 13th.. it has 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600/mile, 2-mi, and 5k. Thinking about doing the 1600/mile.. if i'm not in shape for that, i'll do 800m. Sounds like a fun event.

got in a car crash on the way to work. the drivers in this country are truly terrible, as a rule: i ran into the guy's right tail light because he stopped suddenly, for no apparent reason, after swerving partway into my lane. luckily i slammed on the brakes and was only going a few mph when i hit him. the car will need a new headlight and maybe a new bumper but otherwise it's fine.

damn

Quote
on the bright side, it's another confirmation of how much it takes to stress me out: my heart rate never went up, even when i was pulling away from the crash and wondering if the guy would follow me (needless to say, you don't exchange insurance information in this country). this is a trait i appreciate in myself so yay for me.

 :lololol:

nice about the HR.

ya i'd be worried about that too (paranoid/defensive). A cop that lived near me was actually almost carjacked that way; he was off duty, someone rear ended him going slow, he pulls over, gets out, and dudes in another car in front got out and attempted to take his truck, but he was armed etc etc.

life is nuts. even a small fender bender could be something more serious.

my HR jumps pretty fast, I think.. I mean I can stay calm but I get "focused/on guard/aggressive" very fast. For example, when i'm wakling it can literally jump just from how a car passes me at night - or how they use their break lights etc.. When it jumps, I never ignore it. Also that's one piece of advice I have for anyone; if your HR jumps and you get "chills", don't ignore it.. some shit could be about to go down.

Forgot which country you're in but it seems like a lot of foreign countries(after watching Top Gear) when you get into a car accident there's just an awkward wave and smile and people just drive off...except for Russia, shit goes down in Russia.

you mean like russian mafia pulling out rocket launchers?

IDK Jonathan Clark is CLOSE to the double eastbay... stupid close.

seems like he's practicing it nearly every day. I've seen JC get close (and Staples I think), but not Kilganon. I wouldn't put it past Kilganon though.. he may just try it one day and pull it off.

also i think chris staples is best "built" to land the 180 BTB/BTL, based on how he sick he is at 1spins and how fast he is.

believe it or not, still sick. I didn't take any medicine (which is normal for me), but seem to be taking a long time to recover.

can't wait for GGG/Jacobs, that should be a great fight.. we'll probably see GGG hit a new level. He didn't look too worried in his last fight.. but Jacobs is legit, so no playing around in this fight.

i think GGG will figure out a way to KO him.. hard to bet against a GGG KO at this point.

that lemieux KO of stevens was brutal..  i was (am) worried for Stevens.
