So much for bench and squats :( One of my friends is going through a divorce so I spent the past couple of days (after work) just hanging out with him and drinking. I didn't end up making it to the AA meeting this week. It's like my whole fkn life revolves around alcohol. I fkn hate it.

In other news one of my rugby team mates posted this:

"Everyone posting their little fitness story's so thought I would get in on it . Here's my warm up from this morning .I do this twice a day!". He's not the fastest in the team but he's definitely one of the fittest so I believe he would actually do this.

Well said! Australia has a similar culture of masculinity. It's not cool to be skinny, which is probably coz 60%+ of the population is classified as either overweight or obese. http://www.huffingtonpost.com.au/2016/02/24/australia-obesity-statistics_n_9154422.html

Same as if you video yourself dunking or lifting some people will criticize you but deep down it's mainly that their envious that they either don't have the confidence or athleticism to do the same feat.

regarding the race tomorrow, whether should be rainy, humid, not too hot, and crazy windy - but the initial ~1.5 mi might be a tail wind  :headbang:

some stuff from last year's race:

http://www.adarq.org/progress-journals-experimental-routines/adarq's-journal/msg125952/#msg125952

https://www.strava.com/activities/745322722/overview

very similar to my last race actually ... except 9 seconds slower for the first mile.

feel pretty good right now, calf feels fine unless i manually stretch it .. so tomorrow it'll probably be good. if it gives me any signs of not being good, will just trot it out.

it's funny, if I were to hit these splits:
1. 5:00
2. 6:30
3. 6:30

that'd be 18 over 3, plus ~30-40s over 0.1 .. so an 18:30-18:40 5k, if I run a 5k like a "1 mile test" + "2 mile cooldown".. lmfao.

if I hit these splits:
1. 5:00
2. 6:15
3. 6:15

that's 17:30 over 3, close to sub 18.

if I hit these splits:
1. 5:00
2. 6:00
3. 6:00

that's 17:00 over 3...

that's pretty funny..

imagine hitting like:
1. 4:30
2. 6:00
3. 6:00

16:30 over 3, probably sub 17 for 5k.

hah.

1 mile hard, 2 mile cooldown could be a winning strategy locally. that's hilarious.

 :ibrunning:

I'm excited to see how you go!

PR NATION!!!  :personal-record:

I finally made it to the track!!!

7x100m with 2 minutes rest between each 100m.

The times ranged between 14.4 to 13.1 for each set except for the last set. On the 7th 100m I was feeling good so I decided to push the pace and ran 12.4. There was no way I would have been able to recover in 2 minutes to do an 8th repeat 100m after the last 100m. The 12.4 definitely wasn't 100% though probably more like low 90% effort in terms of pushing it.

Gym-
Squat-
60x5
100x5
102.5x5x3

Chin Ups-
bwx15

(bw with 10kg attached) 5x3

Pull Ups-
bwx10

Basketball-
15 ME jumps and 5 jumps where I just double grabbed the rim without the ball.
Dunk wise I got about 4/15 attempts. I got my 1st attempt and then after that they were all just rimming out so I tried putting them in softer so all up they were pretty weak dunks. By the end my hand was getting sore trying to palm the ball. Not bad considering that was my first time jumping for almost a year!

Edit- I tried a double hand dunk and it was an epic fail. I pretty much just slammed the ball against the rim. I wish I had bigger hands as well. If I could palm the ball better I would have a much better execution rate because most of my misses come when the ball slightly slips out. Obviously having a higher vert would help as well. I don't have an official measurement but I'd guesstimate that it's around 34 inches. My SVJ is only 26 inches.

Quick update: something had to happen smh. Got down to 178lbs while maintaining strength, very explosive and hoops were going well. So my knee gave out. Strained MCL and partial tear of the medial meniscus. 2 weeks off so far and improvement is slow. Sucks not being able to do legs. Physical therapist is hoping Im only out for another 4-6 weeks. Bah. Motivation to come back is already gnawing at me intensely. 😡

That sucks man. Goodluck with the recover.
