Sorry to hear about your friend, please try to keep your spirits up.
This shows how this thing is so infectious and unpredictable. South Australia didn't have community transmission prior to this outbreak. if there were covid cases they were contained to just those people coming back from o/seas having to do the mandatory hotel quarantine. And this new outbreak suddenly started because cleaners at the hotel contracted it from those quarantining .. not directly in contact with the infected but just from cleaning the hotel the possibly infected were staying. And that's all it took to spark an outbreak.
As a country we have handled this virus quite well. Victorians definitely dealt with it well but to some extent all states ,but I feel now Victorians and to a less extent NSW are the only ones well prepared to handle coronavirus having that baptism by fire. NSW has the most trumplike response out of the states thanks to their corrupt goverment but even they're doing quite well compared to the worst case of other countries hit badly. The other states didn't actually deal with covid and are not well prepared for an outbreak. WA hasnt had community transmission but if we get an outbreak we'll get wrecked b/c no one has worried about covid in 6 months, we just can't travel or have ppl travel here.
My sister and her kid were supposed home to fly when we WA opened the border on the 14th, 6 hours later we heard about the new outbreak in SA, the border was reclosed the next day! I booked the flights on 13th. We haven't seen each other in 15 months thanks to Covid, not sure when we will get to see the chance to be together again. It sucks but that's how WA has managed to avoid community transmission, we live in a covid free bubble. Hoping SA comes through of this better prepared .. that's going to be the silver lining if there is one (like Vic).
