Have you guys ever had that hamstring pain when you stretch your quads bringing your heels to butt but when the angle reaches 45 degrees hamstring contracts and stiffs and cramps and you dare not straight your legs as muscle is stiff and will cause more pain then iris until you slowly bend and straight till it goes. Gives me understanding of hamstring tear when sprinting.

So I quickly bring heel so my hams don't have to contract when going slow as hamstring has to stabilise legs when being raised slowly.

It is very tight and painful if I let my legs be bent any opening of the knees and hell breaks loose.

yup i've experienced that many times. for me, it seemed to happen when i had greater quad flexibility or forced the stretch too much, either way resulting in hamstrings/gastrocs coming in "too much" contact. almost like it just "cramps up" being in that position. the after effects could linger for a few days, or even a week or more.

i think for me, when that happened, it would tweak the "popliteus" muscle. Could be what's happening for you.. not good to tweak that muscle.. it can cause all kinds of issues and knee instability.

some weird chain of events could be happening, ie similar to what FDL said .. something contracting in that position and causing a problem.

pretty sure we're talking about the same thing.

i've been back on the no-stretching boat for the last 6 months, feel really good. plan to stay here.

be careful with it!

ordered a few more plants also:
- papaya
- guava
- miracle fruit
- blueberry

was going to order some "disease resistant pepper seeds", but the company i was going to order from has some bad reviews. need to find bacterial leaf spot resistant hot/sweet pepper seeds. will research more tmw.

bw = 138
soreness = calves alot (left more so), quads slightly, hamstrings barely

activity:
- 6 hours of yard work
- not what i had planned.. started harvesting peppers and then got pissed at how much "bacterial leaf spot" i was seeing.. so threw out ~15 plants and moved ~10 into quarantine. fucking sux.
- will probably need to throw those out next week.. i also have to throw out the dirt & net pots. plastic pots i can re-use after i sterilize them a bit.
- some stressful stuff with farm life.. just hoping that i eventually figure it out and make it nice and smooth. love picking my own veggies.. hates dealing w/ pests and bacteria/fungal attackers.
- garbage can i filled up must have been 200-300 lb.. one of those enormous cans, packed with dirt/plans. could barely move it.. was a sled drag workout. had to be careful.

i think the bacterial leaf spot came from some "bonnie plants" transplants i bought. pretty much ALL of those plants have come down with it.. so they probably already had it. brutal.

plan is to just keep growing stuff form seed and get really good at keeping my stuff CLEAN.

very nice. love outdoor courts like that.

damn. don't recall you doing them like that, nuts.

i never could get any good w/ them. only thing it gave me was hamstring tendonitis.. a few times. will absolutely never do them again. lmao. i love how it felt too (until the subsequent days).

have a poor man's glute ham from sorinex.. :<

Only felt like that for me on the first week, now it feels quite like a regular hamstring exercise

nice.

def not my experience unfortunately. would have loved to be able to adapt to them. instead they sidelined me each time with hamstring tendonitis.

This guy is crazy and he does single leg ones for sets and reps :o

wtf? impressive.

I used to be able to do these with strict form and with weight slow or quick but now I can descend slowly but not all the way down but then collapse after. Don't know why, maybe because I haven't done the in long time or increase in mass I did this when I was 8.5 stones.

I looked through my journal and I couldn't fine the post I did that in my garden, it was around the same time I did the squats with tyres. I would place weight on chair and then just hold a tyre with heel propped under and do ghr comfortably easy.

But I did do them later, which I found in my journal around June 2014-September 2014.

ah nice.

the first clip in that video is really impressive, i don't know that i've ever seen such a strict rep before on poor man's GHR. his hips don't break at all.

yea pretty crazy. if there was a pmghr rankings list, he'd be up there.

bw = 140

run: 2h5m
- felt great
- pace was naturally alot faster than previous runs
- felt it towards the end though

after run:
- bw = 135
- calves sore (like usual), left more so

kinda nuts.. could end up seeing 129.x on the scale for the first time ever: since weighing myself, never saw that weight.. lol.

135 probably ties the lowest i've seen. somewhere around there.

i'm an alien it's odd. :ibrunning:

tmw:
- tons of farm life: re-potting lots of banana plants, potting more roselle transplants, moving seedlings to cups etc.
- also putting more seeds in: squash, pumpkin, beans, radishes, moringa.. and an ENTIRE tray of green bell & jalapeno.

progressive power layups as warmups, pretty much every dlrvj session, got my slrvj respectable.

when my lr-dlrvj was pretty much peaked, was kinda nuts one day when i started trying some l-slrvj lob dunks and was getting up around 35". blew my mind. then got me addicted to single leg jumping, because that speed component feels so incredible.

but ya, i just did progressively more intense power layups pretty much every warmup session. i knew when i was able to "nick" the rim on them, that i could start transitioning into my dlrvj warmup etc. just allowed me to get lots of slrvj reps in, relaxed/submax .. slow buildup over time.

pc!

I've been doing a lot of inbetween the legs layups off the dribble and lob off 1 leg, it just feels easier/smoother than off 2 legs, so that is helping the reps.
I just love the float the Nick Briz gets :)
I should start doing some windmill trick dunks of 1 leg on the 8 feet netball rims to help out the process.

yea briz gets up real smooth. he has a crazy fast/aggressive runup. i haven't followed him much, seems like a weirdo. him and dexton do too much "attention-whore" stuff. lol.

for single leg jumps, loved watching some of nick ross's jumps/dunks. some of the best slrvj dunks i've seen, i think.

pc!

- warm up x 1 km

- interval 400m in [88,90,88,88,87,85,90] w/200m jogging rest
super windy, enough to blow the upwind leg into the downwind leg while running across and to really feel the pressure running into it. still managed to get everything under 90 (numbers above are rounded). the 85 on the penultimate lap is a good sign, although it was mostly with or at least across the wind rather than into it.

damn, sounds intense.

Quote
- cool down x 1.39 km

- stretch

might lower the target pace the next time i do intervals, reduce the reps to six, then build back up to eight.

i leave for the states, for good, in just over two weeks. so on the other hand all the pacing is gonna have to be revised because of the heat and humidity. well, one thing at a time.

ah nice. the states will be happy to have you back.

hah nice! how'd it go?

yea man sprinting is great. feels so good to turn it on for 5-30s.

ordered some more plants. the longevity spinach should be cool, easy to propagate & grows for many years (down here) apparently.

also, just wanted a bunch of new varieties of "proven" fruit producing banana plants. i've already got a ton of banana plants.. but just want more varieties. can't wait to one day have bananas everywhere.
