Alright will watch. Now it goes on my list including but not limited to:

- Dark Knight Rises
- American Sniper
- The Hateful Eight
- Bone Tomahawk
- Sicaro
- actually pretty much any movie that has a dramatic streak to it.

^^ Sicario is really good.

Just watched Dark Knight Rises trailer to refresh my memory, oh the one with Bane.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1345836/videoplayer/vi2376312089?ref_=tt_ov_vi

dope trailer. My favorite batman movie is "The Dark Knight" with Heath Ledger (RIP).

Bale was an epic batman. He brought it into a "darker" more intense world, which I prefer in comic book/superhero movies.

the movie Inception....

Does anyone here actually understand the exact plot and logic of the movie?

I personally still don't get some parts of it.... such as wtf happened that cause Mal to think the real world was not real (how he locked the totem in a safe or something).... and how the son of that tycoon helped them break into his own subconscious....

Have not seen it. Is it worth my time to invest in it?

yea Inception is solid.. you have to pay attention though, it's a very weird plot.. but I think if you watch it "again", it gets better.. kind of like Deja Vu.

plus, it has Leo in it. :D cast is great overall.. and it's one of Zimmer's best soundtracks IMHO.

8.8 on IMDB ... that's really high. :o

"Time" is amazing IMHO.. so simple but perfect.

masterpiece soundtrack.  :wowthatwasnutswtf:

I've been wanting to watch it recently .. so can't answer fast's question, as it's not fresh in my head.

actually never saw "Good will Hunting" until today.. very solid.

RIP Robin Williams, great performance. :/

Great movie.

yea. Wish I would have seen it sooner. Matt Damon is such a beast, really great actor IMHO. "Rounders" is still my favorite performance of his.

Quote
My son started saying "how bout dem apples" the other day and I've got no idea where he got from and he certainly hasn't seen this.

haha! I've heard it in a bunch of other movies but not sure where a young kid would pick it up.

Mayweather hunted by the irs for the unpaid tax. But he has asked them to wait for the mcgregor fight and here I was thinking he was loaded, but majority of them are tied up in stock or somewhere.

ya that seems to be the theme with rich flashy athletes, always squandering it..

if in the end he loses it all, we shouldn't be shocked.

WBO will rescore the fight with jeff horn vs pacquiao using 5 anonymous judges and that will show which person really won the fight, but it won't change the score, because fight was close and it could have gone either way, but wbo has requested evidence of fraud or unfair officiating in order for it to change the decision.

very interested to see the outcome of this.. it was close no matter how you watched it (tv or ringside).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_metres

that first spot is just unbelievable.. how is that real? ;d

If they had a list with dups, Usain Bolt would be like, top 3, and probably most of the top 10, no? nuts.

^^ the caffeine addicts thread

It took me like 4 months to completely lose my addiction to caffeine. I had started taking it daily (in the form of milk+cappuccino drinks) in the morning, before work, for my job from ~2013-2015. Getting out of bed was impossible without it. Then when I quit, it took me 4 months at least before I started feeling normal again.

fastdontlie: the most potent use of caffeine as a performance enhancer, in my experience, comes when you don't take it normally, and instead take large doses before important sessions (PR attempts, dunk sessions, etc).

When you start to feel very jittery/shaky soon after taking it, and it makes you shit non-stop, that usually means you're ready to "fly".

Sometimes it can overload you though, and you just feel like you're going to have a heart attack. For example, after high doses of caffeine then a dunk session, it wasn't uncommon for me to go home and pass out.. So here I am amp'd up like crazy on caffeine, but I can't stay awake. It really helps you tap into "that much more CNS" than you normally would have .... and that becomes very draining.

I tried caffeine for running (distance), but it just makes me go to the bathroom so much (prior to running), that it cancels out the effect. Worrying about using the bathroom before a race, during a race, etc .. is not worth it. Dunk/sprint sessions however, i'd still use it on occasion to tap into some more power.

Caffeine also feels like an "artificial crowd".. Amps me up as if "people are watching".

FWIW, I sometimes put 2-3 scoops of instant coffee/cappuccino into some milk with a little honey, ~~30-60 minutes before an important dunk session. That would amp me up real good. Way better than a "monster energy" drink or anything like that.

I still get some caffeine now-days through my raw green tea, but doesn't feel like much. I try and go ~3 days without it each week, so not to be completely dependent on it.. feels like it works.

How did you throw the left hook? Do you use more body movement or arm movement to throw a nice left hook?

to me, body. it's a short shot where you try to line up your body weight behind it, and torque the hips while throwing it.

there's different kinds of hooks though.. the most devastating one is with your BW behind it. Tyson is good to learn from, probably the most picture perfect hook of all time.

but there's also "slapping hooks" etc.. these are "longer" and more loose.. can connect at further range but carry less devastating power because it's further away - though, they often look more brutal because they are "scary looking".

a short compact hook is lethal..minimal arm movement, proper angles, lots of hip = lethal.. Alot of baseball analogies apply, i imagine. Need to create an L with your arm and have the elbow up in line with your shoulder, fist neutral.. then you torque the hips as you punch into the target.. the more you open the elbow, the less devastating but the more range you can cover - and you can still wreck people with a long hook.

is that what you were talking about?

there's also fast slapping hooks as counters over jabs/crosses etc.

body shots are similar for the most part.. more hip torque than "punch" .. you torque the hip while getting behind the punch, into your target.

lots of different variations to the basic punches.

I unprivated some old heavy bag videos:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alV8WrtCC50" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alV8WrtCC50</a>

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQrm_u2ZYW8" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQrm_u2ZYW8</a>

I make tons of mistakes here too..

Wish I had some videos when I had been boxing for a few years (2007 or so). These videos are from 2010, when I decided to just go get some heavy bag film out of nowhere.

IMHO, hitting the bag is about staying relaxed and then 'exploding with pure offense or counters'. Imagining the bag as your opponent is important. I've been wanting to go hit a bag again, who knows, maybe i'll get some more of that training in, in the near future. I miss it. Doing an hour on a bag or so, is such an amazing session - feel so good afterwards.

edit: btw, that's my favorite kind of heavy bag.. a big fat heavy one.

Messing around on punching bag. Please give me some pointers on mistakes and stance.  I have absolutely no boxing experience and using wraps to protect knuckles here. only experience was in high school back in the day when we had a backyard boxing club where the rules were all messed up, we were allowed to swing at someone getting up lol.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOq3DSnFj1M" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOq3DSnFj1M</a>

hah cool man!!

some stuff I see:

1. biggest issue is that "switch stance" thing you're doing.. that's only going get you caught off balance and there's time wasted where you're not in position to punch.

2. relax more.. don't "force your head/body movement" to the point where it's not rhythmic.. you'd be surprised how little you have to move in order to slip a punch, block a punch, or duck under a punch.. relaxing is important, whether it's running, sprinting, or boxing/hitting a heavy bag.

3. you're clearly not a south paw, so switching to southpaw (lefty stance) is a waste when you're trying to work the bag .. if you want to "obtain" southpaw punches/stance/defense, you have to practice it very controlled to really ingrain the technique/patterns first, before letting them go.

4. when you practice pulling back, which is fine and can allow you to slip all kinds of punches, you have to make sure you do it with your chin tucked into your chest... if you don't, you're risking getting flattened:
- pulling back with chin up = flattened
- pulling back with chin tucked = solid defense

it's those subtle little things that make such a huge difference.

5. really envision the bag as the opponent.. when it's coming towards you, that's when you want to be "moving your head/body etc", not when it's going away.. alot of the defense movements you make are when the bag is going away from you.. when in reality, they should be made when the bag is coming towards you (like an opponent).. so if you "slow everything down, relax more", you'll be in better position to move your head/body, and punch. Slowing things down will help alot initially.

6. can't tell in the vid, but make sure you are "biting down" when you're "within striking range" .. i used to practice against the bag with a mouth piece, so i could bite down properly.. practicing biting down is important because it gives you more power and it protects your jaw more, from being broken.

7. raise the punches up more.. you duck down alot and throw punches. that's ok but, you have to picture an opponent your height or taller, usually.. that helps keep your punches up.

other than that, you have some nice quick punches.. if you focus on a few of those things, you'll work the bag alot better and it'll be even more fun.

good stuff!
