walk/read/run:
- ~10 mi
- had a nice 0.22 mi @ ~4:50 pace in there
- ~hit 15.5 mph at some point
- left knee bugging a bit after the run .. but i also kneeled down to stretch my quads, which seemed to aggravate it more

haven't done one of these in a while.

had some ~easy 0.33 mi @ 5:5x towards the end too.

definitely in better shape right now than the last ~3 months. so that's kind of cool. The walking + standing desk + intervals runs are a good stimulus.

I like my walk+read+run approach. So tired of just "running". With this style, I can relax and read a ton of stuff, and get some intervals mixed in. As far as enjoyment, there's no comparison to non-stop running etc (for me). Hopefully going to just keep this up for my training strategy this time around. Less pain, more fun/enjoyable. Who knows if it'll help me improve my mile to sub-5 official, but I do think it's possible. I know it won't prepare me for a good 5k though, that's for sure. I need to get my ~400m runs down to ~4 min/mi pace, so that I can have the reserve power to make my ~5 min/mi pace easier. So my power is lacking right now.

If I do some 5k races in ~September+, i'm just going to run the first mile as hard as possible then shut it down and relax.. lmao.

So I guess if I have running goals, it's my 1-mile time and specifically those 1-mile races in December.. 5k is just too much torture for me at this point in my life.  :ninja:

Also, I want to get my walk+run+read sessions up to 5+ hours on occasion .. want to see how I feel with REALLY long sessions. I wanted to do that tonight but started too late. Maybe Wednesday or Thursday.

old mikey garcia/maidana sparring footage..

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iJeF7JizNk" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iJeF7JizNk</a>

imagine seeing that sparring up close.. two near-elite pros, and you're just right up near the ring. That's the best thing about going to legit boxing gyms, is being able to see stuff like that in person, only feet away. It's incredible.

hah.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx366XXz0uc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx366XXz0uc</a>

That's the thing about Mikey Garcia & other fighters like him.. clean cut, nice sounding guy. Seems less ruthless than someone like Broner... But once the bell sounds, he's out to destroy you. He didn't hold back at all on that dude, tried to flatten him. No idea about the true circumstances of it were.

Broner is in for some shit, Mikey Garcia has serious skill & legit power.. Can't wait for this fight. Broner going to get his hair combed while he's laid out on the floor from a KO. :D

Garcia should beat Broner, but here's some recent sparring footage of Broner:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UphJYWltx0A" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UphJYWltx0A</a>

lol broner and his antics, that's why my favourite upset of all time was maidana vs broner, maidana did everything broner did to humiliate him lol and then knock him out and win.

ya man.. humped + KO'd, one of the greatest smack a bully in the mouth moments in fight history.

though, I recall thinking Maidana was going to win - I wouldn't put it in the upset category.

lol at this sparring in that video, at 0:17 what was he doing then he spanks him or ... lol it's just funny and wierd. One thing broner does he does those pot shots and those one hit powershots when he sees an opening and you see that a lot and is succesful at them and then he can go to combos and stuff but still not seeing anything that will pose problem for garcia.

ikr.. thing about Broner is, he'll toy with & disrespect anyone who is less than him. He's just a bully, stopped being impressed a long time ago.

Mikey Garcia has LEGIT power. I think he'll stop Broner.. but ya, Broner is slick & he has been in some very tough fights. I'll give him tat at least, he doesn't give up. He seems to have alot of heart when he's getting wrecked.

Bad news for Conor if true. Jessie Vargas claims Conor got KO'd in sparring recently..

http://www.boxingscene.com/jessie-vargas-says-conor-mcgregor-knocked-out-sparring--118591

just a rumor at this point.

It was prob paulie who connor said he brought in for sparring not to train just to get answers for his remarks about him.  :P

LMFAO.

Didn't even think about that.. I don't think Paulie would fuck around in sparring, so it's possible. He's known as someone with no power but I could see him lighting up Conor, especially after his comments.

If you get KO'd by Paulie, especially at this point in his retired-career, there's no hope for you in boxing. Paulie has pillow fists.

That'd be absolutely hilarious.. I hope it's true.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

federer: juicing?

mostly kidding.

but like, damn.

someone mentioned that to me earlier today. always a possibility. looking better (subjective - but didn't drop a set in wimbledon at age 36) towards the end of your career than you did in your prime, sounds alarms.

i'll just continue to believe he''s legit tho until proven otherwise.. that's come back to bite me on several occasions (Lance Armstrong being the worst of it).

I watched all of the HBO fights.. they weren't that great. I mean the fights themselves were ok but most everyone looked sloppy.

I didn't see the Eubank Jr / Abraham fight.. WOW. That footage is insane. Eubank Jr put on an uppercut & body shot clinic.. BRUTAL. I don't think i've ever seen that many uppercuts in a fight.

ya man it's hard to poke through defense when they just commit to shelling up.. but Eubank Jr had the right formula & enough power to do it, it seems. Just committed to those uppercuts & body shots and kept opening up that shell. Abraham is no joke & hits really hard, so that's a huge win for Eubank Jr.

amazing highlights.

Also, fuck Abraham with his "hump jab". wtf is that? weirdo.

i'm lol'n at people thinking it'll go 12.. "a typical Floyd fight". Conor is going to be near lifeless if he lasts 8 rounds. Floyd won't be able to hold him up to make it go 12.

:ninja:

Floyd will dance & out class him for the first 6 rounds, then Conor will be so wrecked from fatigue, unable to defend properly & unable to throw anything sharp, that Floyd will have to finish him off.

So i'm thinking it'll go 6-8: TKO or someone throwing in the towel for Conor to save him.

If you've ever seen a cat toying with it's prey before it gets bored and just kills it, that's how this plays out.

23:54 <@expat> boxing fans seeing Floyd lose, & seeing MMA fans rejoice & laugh at boxing.. would be like anti-Trumpers living through Trump winning

I said that to a pro-Trump guy who always rubs it in that Trump won etc.. who is saying he'll quit boxing forever if Floyd loses.. irony.

lmao.

Mcgregor needs to talk about the beat woman failed relationships bad father thing lolol

ya i said that earlier. I don't want to see Conor do that, that's some horrible shit.. but, if he did, the woman-beating angle could end up getting under Floyd's skin. Don't think there's anything Conor could say, other than that, to get Mayweather to lose his composure out of the ring. Don't think there's anything he could say to get Floyd to lose his composure inside the ring.

Yeah I hope he doesn't go that route either. I don't see him doing it though. He has the crowd right now and they'd turn on him.

I don't think he'll do it either.. he knows that's just going too low.

But......... the crowd wouldn't turn on him :/ IMHO there's some Trump effect going on here.. Some of the very same reasons people hate Mayweather Jr, they love about Conor :/

Conor is a disrespectful punk most of the time. He's said some really foul shit to most of his opponents. People who hate those qualities in other fighters, love that with him.

I mean, dude, he knocked Floyd's ability to read.. and everyone loved it. That's disgusting... I understand it's for show, but how do you cheer that, as a fan? I mean when you really think about it, that's so disgusting. He clearly had a wrecked upbringing and dedicated his life to boxing. I mean his mom was a crack addict and his dad was a pro boxer, drug dealer, violence, beat Floyd Jr, everything. He didn't grow up "easy".

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1627330-floyd-mayweather-how-his-familys-history-of-violence-has-shaped-money-may

good read.

I think you just predicted something here. Remember that? Trump can't win. Trump's a joke. He's not a politician. No one really thinks he's serious. He's just here for the attention. BOOM! Trump wins. McGregor inside 4 haha

ya but this is different.. unless Conor puts acid on his gloves or uses plaster of paris ;f

Dana White (nor UFC) isn't going to be able to help him inside the ring.. :D

Federer is just the best i've ever seen.

Wins his 8th Wimbledon without dropping a set.. First to do it in 40 years.

The precision of his game is unreal.

Awesome job by federer, at the start is was tough then cillic with the injury then the last set cillic coming back but federer will always respond to all challenges and win especially without losing a set.

First one in wimbledon history to achieve 8 wimbledon championships, GOAT.

Honestly, Federer looks better right now than he did 10 years ago. This is pretty insane.

Really looking forward to the US Open, hoping to see a Nadal vs Federer final. That would be enormous.

cool Mo Farah footage .. wonder what his pace is there. he looks like he's in really sick shape right now - so lean/light.. must have some big races soon.
