apparently dunkirk is amazing.

dunkirk trailer looks pretty intense/legit.

on a side note: not sure if anyone will be able to make movies about WWIII. would be nice if everyone just suddenly realized how stupid we are, out of nowhere.. kind of like "The Leftovers" but for a massive, deep introspection event.

Watched "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2975590/

Kinda torn.
Pros : Good atmosphere. Pretty dark aesthetics. Not hollow characters. Great SFX. Good main story idea. Interesting ending ( won't say more, spoiler alert ). Ensemble cast with good performances ( Jeremy Irons playing batman's butler, Fishburne playing the daily planer chief, Kostner appearing for 3 minutes, no wonder budget got up to 300M, lolwhat!).
Cons : Too long for its story ( watched the ultimate edition, 30 extra minutes bringing it to 3 hours, standard version already 153 minutes ). Main story/premise was good, but it kept getting... disoriented, many unnecessary plot twists and complications happening. Yet another batman character reboot, although this time it feels somewhat connected to Nolan's.
My verdict : Ok and maybe good for the batman/superman mythology fans, ok for a 3 hour action brainstorm, rather boring for someone who wants more.
My rating : 6/10

ya I liked most of it, was surprised it got so much hate.. it lost me at the end with the enormous monster and the wonderwomen stuff out of basically nowhere. I liked pretty much everything up until that finale, just too over the top. Wish they would have stayed away from that.. Literally felt like it turned into a kids movie out of nowhere.

This superman with Lex Luthor was really good:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078346/

Gene Hackman kills it.. and the plot doesn't go crazy with massive CGI monsters etc.

Need to watch that again, but from what I recall, that movie was really good.

The Town was a pretty good movie, give it 7/10

the departed was ok, 6.5/10

Listening to some old jazz session that my dad played piano on:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QubpBauZDl0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QubpBauZDl0</a>

It's interesting thinking back about those sounds entering my head as a child; ie hearing him play those kinds of tapes/records, or practicing by himself, just solo piano going nuts practicing jazz/classical etc.

I've always loved the intro to Balloon Song.. goes hard.

huge back is huge.

cardio walking ftw. underrated & effective. you don't seem to put in alot of volume with your walks, but I guess with that much muscle mass you don't necessarily need to. I wonder what would happen if your cardio/walk sessions were an hour each time. You'd probably just get ridiculously shredded. The thing I love about cardio/walking is it's not taxing at all, to me at least. So you can burn mostly fat kcal and feel very fresh.

I can walk for ~3 hours and barely lose anything, mostly lots of water weight because of my long sleeve shirt. It does add up though and the fat lbs always drop off if I stay consistent with it. I think I get leaner doing long walks than I do with long runs .. Long runs just make me want to eat everything in sight.

Nutrition & Supplementation / Re: I don't think i need creatine
« on: July 23, 2017, 10:54:58 am »
My goal is to reach 40 in SVJ and 44in RVJ, this will give me a lock at athleticism and a good training position for BBALL program to train elite players that are a bit raw and clueless but talented.

Should I take creatine or not?

I do have some health issues like obesity and very close to getting diabetes. I also had high liver enzymes that is slowly getting better.

get everything else in check first.. get fairly shredded, stronger, better physical condition, then re-evaluate. Also by that time, "diabetes" probably won't be much of an issue anymore.

sometimes you just have to think about it (and similar things) like a "cheat code".. imagine creatine is a cheat code.. do you use the cheat code on the first level? or do you wait until you actually need it? if you do the latter, you'll acquire more skills & understand your body at an entirely different level .. you won't even need to ask the question about creatine, you'll basically just know. I mean, I don't think most legal supplements are that effective for people who aren't experienced/don't know what they are doing. I can get just as strong without protein powder -> my diet is balanced/adequate. etc.. I don't need some crazy pre-workout amp fuel, but if I do need a pickmeup, caffeine in the form of coffee will do just fine. I'm mostly anti-supps though -> anti in the sense that I don't really feel we need them. Creatine has shown to be pretty effective, but why use it right now when you can make considerable gains/improvements without it? Instead, wait 6-12 months when you're dropped BF% way down and are considerably stronger, then maybe take it to experiment.

also, as far as coaching goes.. you don't want to be one of those coaches/instructors whose first instinct is to get a client on a bunch of supps. Making proper improvement yourself & then understanding better the effects of things like creatine etc, will give you much more insight when it comes to prescribing it.

my 2cents.

Do you ever find jump squat to be better with resistance band than free weight?

Depending on what you are trying to achieve, using bands can help with explosiveness and elasticity and can be better than free weights. I have never used bands. As free weights has been giving me results.

nice. if it aint broke, don't fix it.

Do you ever find jump squat to be better with resistance band than free weight?

i'd be a little wary of jump squats with bands.. sounds like it could be better on the spine upon landing, but not when you take into account you're accelerating back down faster than gravity. curious about the physics of it. imho I imagine traditional jump squats are safer, even more so with dumbells. I like lighter jump squats though: going passed ~35 % 1RM just brings in too much risk vs reward debate.. especially 70%, F that. I'd personally stick to 25-30% 1RM (if I had to do them).

bw- 88.6 (down again)

Rest day

Getting the new program sorted and will be doing a cardio/strength endurance based building block for 6 weeks. Not going to be lifting heavy at all which will be hard to do but should be a nice change up for the body. Wanted to get a cardio base and increase work capacity earlier in the year so pretty happy to finally bite the bullet and do it. See you in 6 weeks barbell.

Going to eat at or around maintenance during this time as no doubt the addition of cardio will do a lot for any calorie deficit I was planning.

nice!! what's the strength endurance stuff going to look like (generally)?

back has gotten better, time to start over again. fuck my life.

well that's good news!! maybe cut out the paused squats for a while.. they are effective but obviously more risky than a normal squat.

I personally cut out paused squats, REA squats, jump squats, barbell lunges, front squats (loved those for vert, but they wrecked my upper back quite a few times) etc back when I was verting. Sometimes you just get to the point where it's like, fu*k the fancy stuff, pure basics.
