Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: chasing athleticism
« on: August 31, 2017, 01:14:54 am »
Jump rope imo is horrible for pure athleticism. Better to just work on fast footwork alone and calf jumps alone than do all that hopping with a rope.....

why horrible? it's a good tool.. for "heavy footed" people, it can really help them get light on their feet. it's great for general coordination, fitness (cardio), body comp (burning cals), learning rhythm, learning to relax, shoulder speed/power/endurance, and can actually get quite intense/complex. There's all kinds of low level reactive exercises you can do with it, just hopping on one leg exclusively for X reps then the other is decent for reactive strength. Sure you could do that without the rope, but the rope also helps force you in some pretty good positions & helps you keep it submax when that's appropriate.

jump rope = great tool IMHO. i'd mostly use it for body comp & conditioning .. for boxing I used it for that, and to help with hand speed/shoulder conditioning. You can definitely tell the difference in the ring/on the bag/on the mitts before/after you get really good at jumping rope.

a historical progress tracker is like the "progress tracker" (that I was also coding into the new forum FML) for one person but across the whole forum.

dno, could be useful.

i'd change the title to "adarq.org historical leaderboard" perhaps, and include the actual lifetime PR numbers listed by date :) but ya you're missing tons of people. also as an example, you have me in RVJ but not say LBSS or ARowe who both jumped basically as high (37-38 peak) but are shorter & have a shorter reach. So you need numbers & a full list in order not to skew/mislead.

I think a historical leaderboard is probably a good idea tbh.. it'd be a good one stop reference to see what people are into, where they excel, etc.

It should probably be in this format:

Top RVJ:

#1 - Handle, age, date, number, <how it was measured: vertec, video, etc>, <optional journal post of when it was hit>
#2 - ...
#X (not limited to 5, everyone gets on the list)

Top Squatters:

#1 - Handle, age, date, weight squatted @ set x reps, bodyweight, relative strength ratio, <optional journal post of when it was hit>
#X ...

stuff like that.

It could also have other categories like bench, deadlift, standing OHP, even some oly lifts/totals, 100m sprint, 200m sprint, 400m sprint, 800m, 1 mile, 5k, 10k, broad jump, long jump, L-SLRVJ, R-SLRVJ, DLRVJ :D

Also mutumbo & T0ddday sprint. oh and t0ddday has a mean RVJ. oh and "rip" was definitely among the top RVJ's, even though it was inflated a bit, he got way up.

So this "leaderboard" could expand quite a bit, include everyone, and become a good historical reference for PR's on the forum.

I'll post some stats for myself tomorrow probably, then maybe help you edit the original post a bit if you want.

lmk if that makes sense or if it's beyond the scope of what you wanted to do :f

peace

Nutrition & Supplementation / Re: WholeFoods just got more affordable
« on: August 30, 2017, 06:26:57 pm »
I just spent like $26 at whole foods, usually it's near $40 for what I just got. wtf? Well I did get one Buy 1 ($5) get 1 free, which is also rare. They usually do "2 for .." but not BOGO.

Avacados are cheaper at WF than at Publix (a South Florida grocery store). That surprised the hell out of me.

Awesome.

bw = 154
soreness = calves alot (right especially)

jump rope:
- 11 AM
- 1 hour straight, several mess ups (~20+)
- avg HR: 147
- max HR: 169
- lost 4 lb water, drenched
- right calf sore during the session, hard to do single leg hops .. knew this going in, but wanted to work it out
- don't think i've done that since boxing .. i used to be able to get through an hour non-stop with only ~2 or so messups, when i boxed.. lmao. Also had a different rope though, not as fast as this rope.. so might not be that bad.
- felt pretty good .. mostly relaxed .. if i felt shoulders tightening, tried to loosen back up, did a decent job of it.
- after some mess ups, took my time to get back into it, so like maybe ~30s or so to reset and loosen up my shoulders before getting back at it.
- legs felt fine, no prob

bw:
- 4:30 PM
- ng pullups: 7 normal + 5 dead hang
- full dips: BW x 10

bw:
- 6 PM
- chinups: BW x 10
- full dips with hips abducted/knees extended: BW x 10
- standing single leg raises: x 25
- standing single leg abduction: x 25
- wide grip pullups: BW x 5
- close grip pushups: BW x 25

walk: PR mile split attempt: SUCCESS

damn sucks that it had to end on that "slipped" shot. great match though.

round 1 of the US open has been pretty exciting, lots of tough matches & a few big upsets (sharapova over halep).

bw = 154
soreness = calves alot (right especially), quads moderate
aches/injuries = big toe blister drained out completely

set my alarm for 8 AM, but slept in until 11 AM :/ really needed it though .. absolutely dead today. Also took a 2 hour nap from 4 PM - 6 PM.

evening walk:
- ~2 hours
- 8.4 miles in 2 hours
- calves so tight early on, eased up a bit throughout

did a ton of soleus stretching last night and today .. feels so good when i'm doing it and definitely loosens up my soleus, but also makes them more sore as time goes by.

right soleus is WAY tighter than left.

ps: watching federer / tiafoe, awesome match. 40/40 5/3 5th set for federer at the time of this post :D

Well my rugby league season is now officially over. Unfortunately we ended up boycotting the Grand Final, which I was going to play in as my ribs are now recovered (You can see me wearing the Green boots). We boycotted the Grand Final as a result of corruption by the head organisation and we were just sick of their bullshit and undemocratic ways that they run the comp. Unfortunately the media twisted the story and tried to make as out like thugs who were upset about suspensions, which were only the tip of the iceberg.

https://www.facebook.com/7NewsAdelaide/videos/1666333180063997/

At this stage the NRL are launching an investigation but it's not looking good for the club. They might kick our senior teams out the comp next year and suspend everyone for a year. But at least we stuck it up to the man on the day :headbang:

that's pretty nuts. takes some balls to do something like that, so good on you & your club.

that footage of your club at the end looked a little nuts though!! lmfao.

also, I don't have facebook embed on here. I rarely even know how to link facebook videos. I'll check into it though, could be a simple module.

peace!
