Ham and glute DOMSsssssss! Lol! Awesome :) Went and shot/played for 2 hours to loosen up some, nothing too strenuous.  Going to get a good stretch now and ice. Squat day tomorrow!

Im not sure what it was when i started lifting to be honest, probably low 30s as I could grab rim easily still.  I took 3 full years off from ball while at a tech school (long story lol) and did nothing but eat, drink, play video games and get fat. I graduated at 194lbs and a borderline alcoholic lol! When i came back home i could barely play i was so out of shape so i played my way back into shape then my daughter came along and i decided to get serious and healthy to see what i could achieve and so she'd grow up living/watching daddy live a healthy lifestyle.

damn interesting transition.. you took the exact opposite path of someone who has kids.

good stuff.

I do know what I tested at as a sophomore in high school before my knee injury. SVJ was 25", SLRVJ was 36", DLRVJ was 33" and i ran a 4.47 40 (laser timed). I was 155lbs then and definitely lacked strength/power but had good top end speed and reactivity. So i guess you good say i started out with a pretty good base just wasted time before i started to cultivate it. :(

Lost in the semi's.  We did not play well at all. Got done 9 early.in the second and guys fell apart. Shooting long 3s and playing too much 1v1 without kicking the ball when the double came. Oh well...

Lifting starts tomorrow!  God im so excited!

ya with where you are currently (~43-44 max) it should be interesting.

Thanks Adarq!! Yea i wasnt exactly your prototype "hes going to be a daddy" type but hey,  having a child is a huge moment and im forever thankful to have my beautiful little girl!

I REALLY wish id have taken my coaches advice in high school and lifted. I wasted my "prime" years. No clue where id be now if id taken ball and vert/weights seriously back then. I coasted on pure talent back then so whenever im around highschool kids now i let them know not to do what i did, your future is too valuable and unknown to waste!

BW pre workout: 179.8lbs
Great energy, focus. Ready to get back at it! No injuries really. Sore quad where i got kneed in our last game, no biggie.

Stationary bike+dynamic warmup+jumps -depth jumps and box jumps definitely down a bit as expected.

Deadlift:
(Warmup) 135x5, 135x5, 225x4, 275x1, 325x1. Maybe had 335 in me as i was surprised at how well the 325 went. No easy but not a grinder like i was expecting.
(Worksets) 275x5, 275x5, 275x, 275x5. Grip is eh, will use straps from now on on top set and worksets. Last set was a little struggle, will progress slowly with emphasis on lifting explosively.

BSS:
110lbs: 3 sets of 10 per leg. Awesome.

Jump squat/box jump superset:
50lb js: 3 sets of 8 w/ ss 40" box jumps (2-4 jumps)

Seated calf raise:
125lbs: x12, x12, x12. Easier than expected til set 3. Interesting.

Ham curls:
120lbs: x12, x12, x12.  Ham strength down :(

Assortment of core stuff.
As expected ive lost some strength but less than i figured I would have. Quite pleased overall. We'll see how sore i am later lol!

Edit: just looked back through my log and it looks like in my first 6 months lifting i gained about 8" in my rvj and since then only 4-6". I chalk this up to a few things: 1) beginner gains (weights/diet), 2) ive had a few injuries that keep setting me back right when i feel im about to reach another level, that said its obviously harder to go from 44" to 50 or whatever than 26-30something as you're closer to your genetic ceiling im sure.  So idk, no injuries and i could be at 47-48 maybe or just as easily still in the lower mid 40s.

I turn 28 later this month. I started lifting and actually caring about my vert around age 25, just after my daughter was born.

Its only too many ground contacts if your body is saying so. Like when your jumps decline.

Won our first playoff game ....barely. Had to go to OT and we shouldn't have. Good news is, guys starting playing their roles again in overtime! Well that and I was so pissed I called a timeout and told them to give me the damn ball 40 seconds into the overtime. Dropped 9 of our 11 points in OT, NBA range 3 and 3 straight layups when the D tried to take away the 3. Also had a steal and 3 rebounds in OT. I think our guys got the point (hopefully). SMH. Did feel great to actually have to play tho, I feel like ive been on cruise control all season. Crowd was AWESOME in OT, all sorts of smack talk from their bench and the various 40 or so people watching. I love that type of atmosphere,  definitely had to let em know they couldn't guard me lol!

Watched 2 other games while stretching/BSing with friends on other teams and its definitely playoffs. Both games were close (1 point and 5) and everyone was a lot more physical. Should be fun!

It was cocaine lol! And fwiw he passed the 2nd test before the fight so it didn't/shouldn't have affected the outcome. SMH.

Went and played a little today...ended up playing a ton of 1v1 lol! Was basically a winner stays type deal, 1s and 2s to 11. Won 9 straight games without a break and was DEAD. Took a 10 minute breather and decided Id have a dedicated 30 min dunk session since its been forever it feels like. Started off very lack luster and I could really tell I havent been lifting which was getting me down. Suddenly about halfway through something 'clicked' and I started getting up again.  Very weird. I'd say I was around 43-44", very surprising but im extremely happy. I figured with the lack of weight room work id have lost more and ve down around 40-41, maybe 42. All in all a very confidence inspiring afternoon!

Steph is fucking sick. Best PG/SG in the league IMO right now. You just can't guard the guy.

9-1 in the regular season! Playoffs start Thursday and we're the #1 seed I believe. Had a somewhat close game tonight but I scored 7 in the last 1:30 to seal it and we won by 12. Shouldn't have been that close but we missed a lot of shots we normally hit. Other than that we played pretty solid, good on the boards and played decent D. We'll see how Thursday goes. I wanna win and get back in the weight room. :)

Right now it seems my body is requiring 45 mins or so of gradually ramped up activity to be ready to play ball. Lifting only takes 20-25mins of warmups but them I have warmup sets as well.

I usually jump my best after a full warmup and about an hour of decent intensity playing.

Well...its definitely my warmup thats been lacking. Not that im surprised, ive been having to start games with a very mild shoot around as my only warm up. I dont feel "good" til halftime usually. Soreness is in the calves and hams with some slight swelling in the shin area. Weird. Today however I had no such issues so thats a good sign. Extended stretching afterward just in case.
