Football / Re: Why there is more to football than speed and strength
« on: March 06, 2011, 10:59:41 pm »
If he sucks it's probably due to poor hand-eye coordination (catching).

His agility/change of direction/balance is not forced to be great neither.

He can certainly run & jump though. Like you say, just being athletic may not be enough sometimes, which is 100% true. Same goes for soccer.

Usain Bolt is talking about playing soccer when he quits track. He ain't doing fuk all in soccer if he doesn't have good technical ability.

Idk about Usain bolt though..he could play pro cricket and would be if he was not doing track..usain could be good at soccer

Football is a skill, and must be practiced...the same as bball, If you are just athletic that may not be enough sometimes

take a look at dwain chambers, probably 4.3 in 40 since his 60m dash is 6.42 100m-9.97 and 200m 20.3
overall he is athletic but totally sucks at football...

Got vanilla and that was a mistake....taste is too plain to kill of the horrid after taste of protein ish

strawberry was my weapon of choice till recently, I just got sick of the same stuff...am trying cookies now, it's allright about = to the strawberry

Oh, and don't use water for the ish..Idk why i was dumb enough to do water with the ish, but it was terrible and lowers protein from milk  :uhhhfacepalm:

i doubt i'll ever switch from vanilla. just mix it with chocolate milk. tastes AMAZING.

you mix the two? that sounds like a good idea

a tight end got 42.5" vert and 4.64 40 today.. something "green" i think.

NFL network.

probably already found this but here it is anyway

http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/Virgil-Green?id=2495288

Virgil Green
Height:6'3"
Weight:249 lbs.
Arm Length:33 1/2 in.
Hand Size:9 1/4 in.
College:Nevada
Conference:WAC
Position:TE

40 yard dash time: 4.64
Vertical:42.5
Bench:23
Broad Jump: 10ft 10inches
3 cone drill: 6.90
20 yard shuttle: 4.40
60 yard shuttle: 11.63

So he looks like a beast...if he was running a 4.64 at 250lbs...you gotta say he is going to be something special in the nfl..not even mentioning his vertical and agility is better than guys weighing less

but you never know, i did'nt see his hands and workout..he could still be a bad football player but a boss in athletics..idk. anyone got his workout?

BUT HE DOESN'T SQUAT ATG!

lmao

dno, he may, we can't say he does or doesnt for sure :) he's got better leverages for it than taller sprinters thats' for sure.

read the article  :uhhhfacepalm: He never lifted weights till his last trainer started him doing so...and it was not long after that his comebakc was over with

right i'm saying we don't know what level depth he would use most efficiently..

his injuries are more of him rushing back into sprinting without proper preparedness, it wasn't his lifting regime.. he was just too out of shape, and that's a dangerous combo given his genetic abilities for power.. so hamstrings tweaked ez.

IF he trained like a normal sprinter, instead of his freelance shit..he probably would not have hurt anything..but maybe he would not be as fast....it seems unorthodox to just sprint everyday, but he was dedicated to starting doing 20 starts a night and listening to the voice of the starter in bed....srsly he was working hard,

I have conversations like this with myself sometimes. I'm pretty sure I'll end up having kids with a girl who is physically attractive at the time we decide to have kids; also as (or more) intelligent/high-achieving as I am. I simply can't envision it being any other way. But will she be athletic, or have athletes in her family? Will I care at that point? At the moment I'm sure I'd like my kids to be more athletic than I am and having kids with a chick with better athletic genes can't hurt there.

Current GF is beautiful and is smart and high-achieving as hell but isn't an athlete (used to be a ballet dancer, pretty good but not pro quality). Marriage/kids with her highly unlikely but these thoughts do enter my mind sometimes.

I know you were kidding, but I'm kind of serious...

If that's the largest reservation you have about this chick then get the fuck over it :headbang: Also, don't try and force your future kids into being super athletic. Encourage them to try as many things as possible and do what they like to do as well as they can.

don't be such a pussy..everybody is doing it...all males select better females so they can have superior children...get that beta idea shit outa adarq.org

lol JK

ha ha ha

i was just imagining meeting a girl with this in mind.

Me:  Ok so could you just turn around
Girl: um ok...
Me:  nice, nice...oh :(
Girl: what  ???
Me:  its just your calves
Girl: huh?
Me:  they are too low and large
Girl:  (starts thinking to herself: pervert...)
Me:  Yeah I would prefer someone with higher cut calves but it was nice meeting you...  Its a shame really, you were preselected for this date by your ass-- it really indicates an excellent ability to recruit the gluteus maximus but other parts of you were a letdown. Bye

Girl: :pissed:

i concur, lbss's current gf is ridiculously hot.

lbss, it doesn't matter, with proper training your kid will become a beast regardless of the parent's genetics.. i can't imagine how impressive athletically i would be right now if i had proper guidance growing up, with my work ethic + starting young and training properly, it would be ridiculous... i just didn't have any guidance and no "natural power", but the work ethic is there.

but ya athletic women are more attractive to me, sprinter's especially.. i don't know if it's even possible, currently or in the future, for me to have a gf/wife who isn't a dedicated athlete, it just wouldn't work with my athletic obsession :F

what  are some achilles tendon to calf length ratios for some elite jumpers and sprinters? what ratio would be considered "high cut" calves?

Would high cut calves count as the calf being less than the tendon length?
