You've maxed out your strength pretty much at your bodyweight, right? What's your plan for the future concerning performance? Would you consider hypertrophy to gain some mass to work with?

Huh, we're about the same height.

And I know what you mean about people misjudging your lankiness for weakness. I actually had several people comment that I was too thin, though I knew I was stronger than a lot of people. I had reduced myself to 150 several months ago trying to go for as pure performance as I could, and I did well at those levels. I had a decent running vert at that weight, but my jump didn't mean much when I was finally balling with some decent competition that weighed much more than I did. I was getting shoved around, lol. So I decided to bulk while still keeping up performance.

Seems like you got a plan. You'll get to where you want, then, easy.

How tall are you btw?

Ah... bad news.

It's cool, though, least the site's still up and stuff.

Tested my vert yesterday after having done nothing but BSSes and GHRs the past two weeks.

I gained half an inch to an inch or so on my jump, lol. Everything felt real smooth and powerful.

40" here I come. ;D

I train and play basketball barefoot all the time. I think it definitely gives me a boost performance-wise.

Kobe's lost a step. He's definitely still a killer, but I looked to Kevin D. as the SG/SF of the now and future. 'S'all good though, I like to hear the thoughts of readers.

Finally hit my head on a backboard. Dunno the exact measurements, it might've hung a little low, but the rim was 9'10-11", so it couldn't've been that low. Regardless, that's probably at least a 37" vert. Definite PR.

86
Eh, I think Joe Johnson is overpaid myself, but he's still definitely one of the coldest guards in the NBA. And you not liking Carmelo not at the SF, I understand also. Personally, I wanted to give a top 5 list somethin' fresh, lol. Something people could think about and give a response, whether negative or positive. Thanks for the look, though.

Just checked now and I have around 210 views. Dunno if that's impressive for a first or whatever.

87
Lol, thanks guys. Yeah, I would've put LeBron at the SF. I still feel he's the most talented and athletically gifted player in the NBA if he shows up, but if he don't... damn. :P

The Mythical 5

How To Succeed at Each Position in Basketball

Normally I wouldn't bother you guys, but as I'm writing solely for money (gotta save up to buy my training stuff), it'd be cool if you guys read. Or don't even read. Just click, wait for it to load, skim through the pages, and then close it. Every little bit counts since every 1000 pageviews I get $1.50.

I'm on my grind, son. ;D

New article's up. :]

Introduce Yourself / Re: Newbie to training
« on: June 22, 2011, 09:30:18 pm »
Well, if you're doing mostly stuff like 4x8 I would consider that mostly hypertrophy, not strength.  Once you're finished with that stuff you could do a strength block with lower reps, using ranges like 3-5x3-5.  Also, it would help a bit to specify whether that running vertical is off 1 leg or 2.  If you're better at 1 leg jumping, or just want to improve it, in either the strength/power/peak block you should think about switching from ass to grass squats to half squats(just above parallel, not parallel).  The half squat will be more specific to the knee angle used.  You're fine with the ass to grass squats now though, since it's mostly(I'm guessing) hypertrophy.  Half squats also help double leg jumps a lot too, obviously, if you look at adarqui.

Keep working at it, and be sure to read a lot about training so you can learn, which I'm sure you've done.

Also be sure to keep working upperbody, even if it's just pushups, pullups, and stuff.

I'm not a veteran on here, just giving some tips.

Edit: oops I forgot :uhhhfacepalm:

 :welcome: lol

Eh... kid's kinda young to be implementing half-squats. I think it'd be better if he just focuses on ATG to strengthen everything right now.
