Nutrition & Supplementation / Re: Creatine or Whey Protein?
« on: February 16, 2011, 10:47:59 am »
Ow, i asked this because a friend of mine said that when a beginner trainee, like me, consumes whey protein, its effect will be minimal because our muscles are not that burned. Because whey protein is to fast absorbed by our body some of it will not be consumed after working out. He said that it is more appropriate for body builders than for athletes. I don't know if that's true that's why I'm asking here what's better.

So it is better to take isolate or whey protein mix than creatine. For now.

Sounds like your friend has a degree in broscience.

2-15-11

walked 3 laps around the indoor track

squat warmup: 135x5 185x3 235x1

squat: 275x5 280x5 285x5 285x5 - nice progress, 275 felt easy, definitely had 8-10 reps.

bss: did these in a 'max rack' because of freeweight safety issues (if I get pinned I'm fucked, safety is not adjustable and is too low), similar to smith but with horizontal movement. Assuming the bar weighs nothing: 90x5e 100x5e 110x5e

calf raise negatives ankle rehab

If you can only do one I would do a whey protein isolate or whey mix (isolate + concentrate). Whey is the most basic supplement, a quick digesting protein to take after your workouts or to "supplement" with your meals throughout the day.

Creatine is a bit more advanced imo, the average broski who works out doesn't need to take it but it is good for athletes. Creatine increases ATP production which is utilized during anaerobic activities, such as... vert, low rep weightlifting, sprinting, etc. Contrary to popular broscience you don't need to "cycle" creatine, you can take it forever, just like whey protein. You should notice some nice strength increases if you start creatine.

why?

...

just get the cheapest one with a good taste that you like!

Pure concentrate is the lowest grade shit. Plus the fact that the study where they found a bunch of protein powders had traces of metal in them, most of those were the popular concentrates (Muscle Milk etc).

2-12-10

Did a few sprints and jumps before lifting.

squat warmup: 135x5 185x3 225x1

squat: 260x8- had safety too high and I hit them on nearly every rep lolz 265x8 265x8- failed on 9, thought I had it

bulgarian split squat: 135x8e 145x8 145x8 - last two sets I only got 6 and 5 reps with right leg wtf

smith machine calf raise rehab

Decided to start doing bss instead of lunge because I have no room to barbell lunge and bss is safer if I get stuck

2nd set of squats 265x8 @ 160bw

just because raptor fails hard he tries to make everyone else who is successful bad by saying they are on roids and/or the have superior genetics.

Raptor, really, this is so fucking stupid!

I'm genetically different baby! (quoting Brucie from GTA)

But no, you must be crazy to think that guy is natural. Even adarqui addmited he's probably on roids.

I know a guy who is nearly just as fast (10.7 100m in high school) and can jump higher than him (38"svj). I know this guy pretty well and he's natty. He's pretty jacked too. I don't think it's crazy to think that there is a guy out there that is a little bit more gifted than him and is also natural. Although I'm not oblivious to the fact that a lot of professional athletes are on PED's, probably a lot more than I'm aware of.

Well yeah, and he looks all natural. Just lucky genetics :ninja:

From what I've read about him, I really doubt he's on roids.

That sucks adarq. For 3 out of my first 4 weeks at college this quarter I was sick for at least 2 days each week. Shit was retarded.

I'm not gonna roid. Just saying I want more of a sprinter/olympic lifter type physique, lower body bigger than upper but upper still jackt, and being fast and explosive as shit, not slow as fuck like a bodybuilder.

Guy in the pic is Michael Ray Garvin. All-American sprinter and wide receiver at Florida State. Nearly qualified for the Olympics, drafted by the Arizona Cardinals.

2-8-11

squat warmup: 135x5 185x3 235x1

squat: 270x5 275x5 275x5 275x5

reverse lunge: 170x5e 175x5e 175x5e

didn't have enough time for calf raises, will do them tomorrow during upper body.

Workout went pretty good considering the past 2-3 have been horrible eat/sleep wise, not eating very much and sleep backwards. The weight wasn't as fast/easy as I wanted it to be, but it was still progress from the last session.
