denver would have put up much better fight

Doubtful....they got blown out by GSW during the regular season every time they met.

I'll have to try that Andrew!

Idk if it would have worked on this court tho. Like...I wiped, and within 3-4 steps... Junk. I was highly disappointed with the court maintenance.

Stat of the night:

Warriors with Curry and No KD: 27-1. That's insane. I get HOW and WHY KD makes them better (especially down the stretch) but last night was Warriors basketball. Tons of passing. Lots of movement. You don't get that with KD out there. Not that the O is completely stagnant but it's definitely lacking comparatively.

That said, I won some money lol! I figured Steph would reignite "MVP Steph" and damn did he ever. He went nuts in the 4th.

After a ton of 50+ hour weeks limiting training and hooping (haven't played in about 3 weeks). I tried to go shoot today. Floor was so dusty it had dust bunnies on it. No amount ofo shoe wiping was helping so I was dejected. Attempted a few one step dunks and surprised myself especially with the LR plant variation but I had no motivation due to the floor and it showed in a downward spiral of energy. Fuck.

BW was 192 the other night. On week...3?... Of BW upper lifts. Gotta get back into the 180s

Finally weighed in: 196.4 lbs. But, I LOOK leaner? WTF. Anyway, after a week and a half off I hit back the other night and then did a warmup/light cardio session and some jump squat/hang clean super sets. Store is just getting settled back in/down so hopefully my schedule normalizes again soon.

We lost in the semis of a league with a bunch if overseas/former college guys by ONE on a BS call. SMH. Dude doubled on the trap then gets wrapped up (we had a foul to give), takes another dribble then shoots and they give him the shooting foul. He hit both and we back ironed a 40 footer at the buzzer. Crazy part was the ref that overruled the original call of a foul on the floor wasn't the ref in position to make the call.

Guess we wait for the Southeast Classic and the ProAm in June.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ja Morant went first depending on what team gets the top pick/how individual workouts go. The guy is a bonafide stud and fits a position even in a "positionless" NBA.

That said, Zion will sell tickets lol

Quick update/recap... Due to some sickness and some ridiculous work BS (I think I clocked 64 hours last week??  :o ) I took a week off the gym. Plan to get back at it tonight or tomorrow depending on work (we're moving the store to a new location). Not sure I needed a rest and reset but hopefully it's beneficial nonetheless. I haven't weighed myself or done anything except some light stretching at night.

SVJ PR from Thursday!!! BW was 194.7lbs. "Box" is 36" to the top. Given the slight knee bend to land and forward instead of vertical force this should be 35-36"! Super excited for this. Never expected this at this BW and no heavy lifting!

FWIW i had a similar experience with preferred leg changing through jumping practice. i'm a LR planter but left-footed for kicking anything and for as long as i can remember i was more comfortable SL jumping off my right leg than my left. those things shouldn't go together, especially since i'm right-handed so layups should be more natural off my left foot. at some point in the last year or so of the dunk quest that finally became the case, left foot SL jumps were at least as natural and high as right foot jumps. that's without practicing them especially, just lots and lots of planting and layups from both sides for warm up.

point is, chris is absolutely right that practice can groove new patterns and open up new possibilities.

def agree. I am also right handed but can't kick or use the left leg for any thing. But with sprinting I was told that the left leg is the front leg if I am right handed and I have just been doing sprint starts with left leg in front and feel more comfortable but cannot jump off left leg as I always have been kicking with my right a lot and with boxing I have my right foot forward and my right hand forward even though the power hand should be behind the left jab hand. but yep as been stated practicing a lot will make it more comfortable.

That actually makes sense. Think about it, rightys usually jump off their left leg. That leg is also the "plant" leg for a right footed kick. Basically your "dominant" leg should (read: usually) be the opposite of your dominant hand. So in sprints it makes sense to push off that leg first. It's more "explosive/strong". It sounds like not jumping off your left for SLRVJ is simply a progressively natural occurrence for you since in other ways you use it as a right handed person normally would. If I'm reading this correctly.

Thanks guys! Upper body is still being a struggle. Weight is up to 195lbs consistently but I seem to actually be a tad leaner looking at a mirror (vascularity in lower abdominals starting to show again). As for jumping it seems to be affecting my plant speed in PRACTICE much more than in games. Managed a few dunks Friday AM after lifting legs Thursday night. Slow walk up stuff now real ME jumps. Tested a few other plants in the weight room the other day after leg day and managed a 39.5" SLJ off my L leg. Only got 34 off my R tho as my shin kept getting some pains/twinges. Which feels low but, that's normally my weaker leg for SL stuff.

Which goes to what seifullaah asked. Yes, absolutely I am better off my L leg over my R in SL stuff. I'm probably a tad bit if an outlier tho as I'm naturally a lefty but play basketball (predominantly) right handed. This brings up a few key points about rewiring your body as well. As a natural lefty I should jump better off my R leg but years of playing right handed (finishing around the rim mostly R handed) has pushed my L leg to a seemingly more natural state for jumping. Further proof of this is the fact that I still plant better LR on my DLRVJ which is usually consistent for a lefty dunker. Basically it's "proof" that practicing all plants will eliminate various weaknesses and inconsistencies.

Also, lately I've been hammering my "off" plants much more than my dominant plant in warmups to try and balance them out for better athletic performance. This *may* have a small impact on my dominant plant being a tad lower than normal (I got 42.5" clean off 2 steps yesterday post workout. A few weeks ago that was 44" albeit at 6lbs BW less). Just a lot of food for thought.

Tonight is Lunges/Straight leg deads followed by hang cleans and plyo work.

Alright, in the middle of warmups for leg day and decided to test the SVJ. We have some of the Olympic ring things (? Lol) in the studio room in adjustable straps. So I measured them out and just kept moving them up. They're in the corner so nervous about using them for RVJ but... one jump at 35", two at 34ish and the first one at 32+/- a tad. Attempts went 32, 34, 35, 36(f), 34 barely.

Will figure out a halfway decent way to test all the RVJ variations as I lift tonight I hope.

IDK how I missed this but duh, I'm in! Anything to track and hold yourself accountable is great IMO!

I'll get some baselines this week even tho it's March 😞

Andrew, it's a quote from the anime/manga "One Punch Man". It's a satire about a normal guy that suddenly becomes able to defeat all enemies in one punch. His "pupil" finally gets him to reveal his secret training strategy and that's it 😂

SVJ check from last night. Top of the plates is 39". Phone is on the bench so angle is low. Probably 34-35 actual.
