"Weird dreams" in what way? Positive or negative?

Dreaming is good, it only occurs during REM sleep so that's deep sleep which is very resting.

Haha yeah I'd really like to visit New York, but Miami is cool too ;D

Problem is - time is passing by. There's only a small window of athleticism... which is fading as the days go by (unless you're training and getting better, that is :D).

I'd really really like to see Vince play in real life... time on THAT is going by rapidly.

That goes way back... to the days when I was being a member of the streetball.co.uk forum some 7 years ago... we used a similar smilie like crazy. It's meant to be a "sarcastic" smilie.

Yes I am... nothing fancy, I'm using 30 kg for the moment... but it's great in terms of movement, so natural. I'm still kind of afraid to use more weight (maybe it's not such a good idea afterall until my form is great) - but I definitely do them better form wise than cleans. In the clean, I can NEVER EVER keep the elbows forward... if I get one elbow forward like I'm supposed to, the other one must be perpendicular to the floor. It can't go forward ONE BIT no matter what you do. Weird stuff to say the least, I have no idea what this means in terms of flexibility (what muscle is inflexible).

So I either do the catch with the elbows perpendicular to the floor and all the weight being amortized by the hands/elbows (since the bar is catched on the chest and not on the deltoids) or I don't do the catch at all... I don't know. I haven't found anybody to answer that question about the inflexibility (or maybe I should widen the grip but that doesn't correct it either).

Anyway, the snatch feels so much more "athletic" if you will.

Standing jumps ARE quad dominant. But in a correct sprint start, you better believe the posterior chain is engaged A LOT. I think if anything, the posterior chain is always engaged in a sprint, while the quads are only engaged in the begging more and the hamstrings start to kind of take over after you get out of the dig phase.

EVERYTHING IS AN ABSOLUTE! CONTEXT DOESN'T MATTER, WHAT I DECREE IS LAW AND ANYONE WHO DISAGREES IS A FAT PUSSY OR A SKINNY PUSSY OR BOTH! MY LIFTERS ARE STRONG SO YOU SHOULD TRAIN LIKE THEM! I UNDERSTAND EVOLUTIONARY THEORY AND THE HISTORY OF SPORT BETTER THAN ANYONE WITH THAT THERE BOOK LEARNING! BOOK LEARNING IS FOR PUSSIES! ATHLETES OFTEN RUN 30 MPH AND GET CONCUSSIONS! THE BEST WAY TO TEACH THE FORTY IS TO HAVE YOUR ATHLETE FACEPLANT REPEATEDLY! JUICE IS EVIL! I AM KNOWLEDGEABLE BECAUSE MY LIFTERS ARE STRONG SO YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO ME!

I remember the worst... it was that slow guy that jumped like 4 inches for the rebound jump.

it was some hockey guy, he lands and loads up for like 3 seconds swinging his arms back and forward, then jumps like 4".

lol

Yeah it's a way to suppress the stretch reflex, which is exactly what you should do for a depth jump since that's the key: remove any reactive rebound from the jump. Oh wait... :ninja:

Maybe he read that it's more important to get higher than jump quicker, and he gets the highest off a standing vertical jump so he dropped, stopped and did a standing VJ. Or he could be retarded, who knows?

If you pause it at the right time, that's ~40 inches.

You might have stalled at a quality or two... we need more info about your abilities to know if that happens... like your elasticity, what kind of jumper you are, if you're more of a power jumper or elastic (if you gain a lot of inches on your VJ from a running start vs. a standing vert jump), what kind of plyos did you do - if any etc.

I wonder what happens if you do a downhill sprint followed immediately by an uphill sprint. Like a \_/ running slope.

6852
It just is much more natural... I have no idea exactly why, but...

I feel it's a more "complete" extension. In the clean I feel getting the bar to the chest instead of "throwing the bar over the head" is a "partial movement", like you have to stop from the extension. I know that's not the case, but that's how I feel about it.

Yeah you bring some good points and I agree with you... more hip flexor work is imperative for good single leg jumping and sprinting, and it is indeed ignored. The problem is - most people aren't going to be limited by that. That's why the squats and strength movements still are the basic foundation of training.

It's interesting you mention the dumbbell BSS variant - I just did that yesterday and I have such sore glutes today you can't believe. Not much hamstring soreness though but probably the weight wasn't that much to challenge my hams which are very strong anyway. It also depends what kind of a stance you use when you do them (how much of a step forwards you take with the working leg).

If you look at Ced Norman, he does a lot of hip flexor training stuff, usually working with ankle weights to overload the legs a bit and make them heavier for exercises like leg raises etc.

Still, you can't say the quads aren't important, because the quads prevent the knee collapse in the amortization phase. That manages the amount of speed you can use in your plants which is extremely important in terms of elastic accumulation.

6854
I for one feel the snatch as a much more natural body movement than a clean.

new squat stim:

while naked outside, after unracking the new PR weight, someone unleashes the mosquitos/bee swarm right as you you hit depth.

level-7.

That, or they release a death-sentenced gay rapist behind you when you're at the ... bottom so to speak.
