went on date last night instead of training. worth it. woman is cool and cute.
also i haven't been logging this consistently but i've started doing push ups and pull ups again. not on any set plan, just trying to build up the ability again without hurting myself like i did last summer.
i missed this video on friday. absolutely bananas shit. 2.7xbw paused full squat. equivalent for me at current bw would be 445, or 80 pounds more than i've ever done for a single. respect.
just look at mayer's face! i saw derek trucks perform back in high school, before he got together with susan tedeschi (the woman bb king is talking to in that video). absolutely limitless ability on the guitar but super restrained. he generally didn't even stand toward the front of the stage when i saw him. just shredded off to the side, looking down, while his bassist stood front and center with a giant grin on his face the whole show, like, can you believe i get to be up here with this guy? tedeschi trucks band's song midnight in harlem is worth a listen, too. his solo in this version starts at 5:00 if you want to skip to it.
on top of obvious influence from rock/blues guitarists like duane allman (whom he quotes in that video from 1:06-1:19*), you can really hear how much reverence he has for sitar players like ali akbar khan. i've posted this raag before but i listened to it again today and it blows my mind every time. especially once the tempo picks up. i think about 10% of the 450 views it has on youtube are me
- run 2:02:35, 21.61 km possibly a slight distance PR? i'm not sure. 162m elevation gain is a bit more than normal because i did a bunch of the first half on trails in rock creek park. beautiful, beautiful day.
yo let's hear it! when did you start playing and how did i miss it? guitar has been one of the real pleasures of the pandemic for me. if you post some stuff i might do it, too...
