killing it.

x2. sums it up nicely.

:D

Workout

Run -- 6.04mi in 57:24

Notes

Super slow, avg 9:30/mi with one slower than 10:00. Somewhat sore and obvs fatigued from yesterday so no worries. Didn't check my watch during the run and just tried to keep it super chill. HR stayed in the 130s basically the whole time.

It was really cold (1C/33F) and really windy. Didn't realise that it would be windy so didn't have my jacket on. Big mistake, haha!

Ankle/achilles holding up well after yesterday, so this might be the week I go above 30mi.

killing it.

thanks! :headbang: :highfive:

we did similar paces today, very similar workout. nice! I had one over 10 as well. I didn't check my watch either, though I did look at the time-of-day clock. I tried to keep my HR under 130 .. eventually it just sky rocketed to like 160-170's .. wonder if that's a glitch or my body just saying: go rest. I think the former.

now all i want to do is miles and miles and more miles. didn't run this morning because gf correctly told me that i should give myself a little longer to recover than 14 hours after distance/duration PR.

your gf is smart, but eventually you'll be able to handle easy runs after something like that, without any added risk.

Quote
will not run tonight but tomorrow morning gonna get up early and do at 9+ km. 8 km needs to be the new minimum, including days with hill/speed work. got fired up by adarq's 5k PR and now i really want the damn 19:xx. mileage is the key and i'm not getting enough.

hah nice! :highfive: :ibrunning:

getting "fired up" is important too. just seems like lately you've been transitioning into more aggressive training, which is good. you took your time, were patient, and now you're getting the itch to push it more. sounds perfect.

and ya, increasing the mileage can definitely help. Low mileage routines can be extremely effective, but the intensity is much higher from what i've learned/experienced. So, someone can make some great progress on only 30 miles a week, but the intensity would need to be higher relatively to the total mileage than someone who is getting in 50-60 miles a week with lots of easy running. That easy running is "safer" and still builds the aerobic system & overall fitness/work capacity. sooo.. the time tested variation is to def get that mileage up a bit.

sub20 5k club is going to fill up soon!!!!

OMFG @ Nevada/Cinci .. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

impressed with this coach. seems to really make his athletes work during these sessions, brings the intensity.

also, some of these "kids" in the videos are nuts.. South Florida is known for crazy athletic WR's/DB's/RB's.

quick clip of some NFL'rs doing footwork/drills .. so impressive.

this video is solid .. intense.

um, maybe you should get glasses. or contacts. or...

nah i'm good. lol.

i wore my glasses once, during the vista view ultra 360 relay .. was ok. if I need to wear them, I know I can. but i'd rather be able to breathe that fraction of a percent better. If it was dark out, i'd have worn them.

I hate contacts. wore them for years, loathe them. ;d

guy who hopped the fence was on the right path. i went way off course and yelled to the people yo where do i go. insane.

same guy who beat me for 10k last week, got me today. i had a big lead on him, but he closed it by about 2.5 and got me. wrecked

^^^ that small dip ~3/4th of the way into the first mile was me going up a very steep but small hill, got me to like 7:XX pace and it was only like 15 feet, but really steep .. ruined my first split which i wanted to be sub 5:30 lol. fuqn "hill".

17:08 for 3 mi (closing in on 3 @ sub17!!), but 18:05 for 5k (0.1 mi in nearly a minute? syke).

- run 11.17 km in 1:03:50
first 5.3 with gf, so very slow (~6:15-6:20 pace), then peeled off and kept going at ~5:10 pace. distance PR, i think. definitely duration PR, first time running for longer than one hour.

- stretch

meant to run yesterday but had evening plans and lots of work to do, ended up working until it was too late.

duration PR's are def good! nice work!

no wonder why no one likes to play with lebron:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BUMjQByXsA

he yells at people to do things he doesnt even do, like box out or the intangibles

i remember when he went at chalmers like that.. that was such shit.

nice that he apologized but that was pure garbage flexing on him like that.

how annoying is this tho ??? come on..

3 mi @ 17:08, huge PR.

17:08 for 3 mi, but 18:05 for 5k .. took me nearly a minute to go 0.1 mi (160m)? 18:05 my ass.

lmfao.

6207
on pause of full atg squats, on the come up, my calves feel a pain

strange, my ankles are very flexible as well as achilles from so many paused squat, but why is there pain in calves, it is pretty flexible too.

dno but, just from the biomechanics of it, you have to be either plantar flexing on the way up, and/or just shifting too much of your weight onto your toes.

so regardless of flexibility, you're activating that musculature either concentrically or eccentrically.

could need a bit of form shifting, or "cueing" on where to pushing through the foot etc.

nice photo with the top 3 OA'z.

dude on the left has alot of potential.. i've seen him at 2 other races, in which he ran like 19:45, 19:30, and now low 18's (ON GRASS/tough course).. he says he doesn't run much (specifically), but he plays futbol 4x/wk. But he's going to take running more seriously now .. very solid potential IMHO. has a great attitude for racing too, just goes out there and gets after it. And afterwards, always very positive.
