Hey are the XC(cross country I think) version of these shoes similar to the regular version?  I'm wearing some waffle racer vii's right now, and I want to get another pair like these, but most places only have XC.

can you link a pic/url of the shoes you're talking about? the XC?

i love my VII's so much.. need to get more soon.. how u liking the vii's?

That's what I saw at my local sporting goods store, I was hesitant to get it, because it was cross country though.  I don't know why I didn't at least try a pair on, that was stupid of me.  What do you think of the cross country versions of the waffle racers though?  These are apparently the newer cross country waffle racers:

They look extremely similar, but I don't wanna spend money on them if they're not like the vii's I have.  Maybe I'll wear my vii's to the store and compare how they feel if I have the time.

I love my waffle racer vii's, they're amazing.  They run a bit small though (or maybe I just got some fat feet) so I got them a size larger.  Usually I wear a size 11 dress shoe, and a size 12 waffle racer fits pretty snug.  They don't have much support, but I've gotten used to it.  The first 2-3 weeks my feet/shins were pretty sore, because I did most of my stuff in bball shoes, but I haven't had any problems in the past month or so.  For speed/plyo/conditioning work I give it two thumbs up, but probably won't play basketball in them.

Yeah LBSS's first post with that routine looked pretty good.  I would just do that.  You're adding way too much volume to your training.  You're literally working yourself out.  Every training session you should focus on just 1-2 major lifts, and then you can play around with 2-3 assistance lifts, which you shouldn't take as seriously.  A couple years back I used to train how you've outlined a routine for yourself, and I made small strength gains, but I never gained even 5lbs.  It wasn't until I switched to a lower volume routine focusing on big lifts first, and then hitting just 2 assistance exercises that I gained any weight on my body or my lifts.

You should re-read the very last section of that kelly baggett article d-rose posted.

I'd go with very low volumes at high intensity every day. But it would probably burn you if you're not used to it. Whatever you do, don't jump too far away from what you'd normally do if you weren't peaking.

x2 imo, no sense in doing something new, unless you want to see a miracle happen, but if it's for a tryout, I wouldn't bet on miracles.

I think Joel Smith tried that German Volume training last year using front squats or something.  I think he posted it on his blog.  I think it was like Jumpcoach.blogspot.com or something.  Any kind of size to muscle will definitely help with max strength, maybe not directly, but when you dedicate more time for max strength/explosive strength later on it will help.  I've never tried it, but see if Joel Smith will tell you how it went, he's on this forum sometimes.

Nutrition & Supplementation / Re: Eating late at night
« on: July 23, 2011, 01:56:48 pm »
In my experience it doesn't make any difference.  In fact, when I drop weight I spend most of my time eating closer to bedtime lol.  I was also on intermittment fasting, and I'm pretty sure most of what I lost was fat.  Night time is  the best time to eat imo, because you will usually be more relaxed, which will not only help you enjoy your meal(s) better, but it might help with digestion since you're in "parasympathetic" mode.

To be perfectly honest I don't think it matters with the 2 identical people.  Assuming they both do the same activity, neither will lose more weight than the other.

I watched the youtube vid first, I wasn't sure you were serious, but you are wtf lol

Program Review / Re: Lean Hybrid muscle reloaded
« on: July 15, 2011, 01:54:18 pm »
IDK, I would think the fasting is well placed.  Most of the guys purchasing Lean Hybrid Muscle Reloaded probably won't be used to intermittent fasting or fasting.  If you have experience doing intermittent fasting going an entire day without food until 6pm doesn't sound too bad, especially if it's an off day(I believe it is in LHMR).  I've had good results from training coming in with barely any food, or no food, but some people really need food at least a couple hours before because they can't handle it.

That said, I don't think Elliott's a dick, he's just very weird, and his videos get very popular, so he draws a lot of attention.  He knows a decent amount of stuff.  He is friends with Alex Maroko and Taylor Allan though, so that kind of lowers the trust factor.

Thanks for posting a review Eric.

People get fat in the long term from low calorie diets once exposed to food. These people probably have crushed metabolisms and may experience the same phenomenon once exposed to unlimited amounts of food. People with unhealthy metabolisms do not gain massive amounts of fat if exposed to unlimited amounts of food. This is what all the overfeeding studies have shown

Jimmy Moore of livin la vida low carb is a great example. Lost like hundred pounds form low carb dieting, gained 60 back after 2 years.

Bodybuilders are another great example. [http://scottabel.blogspot.com/2011/04/self-destructive-nature-of-willpower.html]http://scottabel.blogspot.com/2011/04/self-destructive-nature-of-willpower.html[/http://scottabel.blogspot.com/2011/04/self-destructive-nature-of-willpower.html]

You're over complicating things.  Weight loss and maintenance of weight loss is a matter of motivation vs discipline.  Motivation = a short fiery emotion that makes you want to do something.  Discipline = ability to stick to something, and not chicken out. Americans satisfy themselves everyday ASAP, so how do you expect them to maintain a diet if they can't avoid satisfying themselves.  If you have discipline you will keep the weight off, if you don't, you don't deserve to keep the weight off.

I don't get the metabolism stuff.  Of course you will gain weight if you start eating more food than normal.  I think it's common sense. People aren't fit in America because they're undisciplined, and stupid.

That's just what I think.

are you insinuating that most Americans are dumb and/or out of shape?

kind of  ;D.  I gotta make it clear first I am American though.  I don't know how to prove it on a forum, but oh well.  If you took randomly picked Americans off the street and asked them questions about nutrition, and tested their "fitness" a large portion would probably fail.  I'm not saying most would fail, but probably a large percentage.

lulz, dont talk shit about Americans faggot, we dominate you.

Dude, calm down.  You can be asian and live in America.  I'm not attacking anybody.

Yeah it depends.  Conventional deadlifts are definitely more p-chain than trap bar.  At the same time trap bar seems more jump specific in terms of movement and upright posture.  If deadlifts are strictly as supplement to the squat, then it shouldn't matter which you use, since it's supplement :D.  That said, if you don't recover well from conventionals then you can choose trap bar instead.  Trap bar hits the p-chain, just not as brutally as conventional does.

Difference is pretty much exactly how steven put it imo.

Yeah, focus on keeping your torso rigid, so your spine doesn't move and stays neutral.  The most important thing is that your spine can stay neutral.  You can even do this while you're sitting at a desk.  Obviously squatting more will help you practice this too.
