might be irrelevant, but how are you doing in terms of 1 foot jumping? seems like specifically 1 foot jumping fits in better with your distance running, rather than 2 foot jumping. just curious too because i'm gonna focus on my 1 foot too now lol

yo!!

Haven't been jumping at all :/

Last year, jumping wasn't too impacted with running, with ~30-50 miles a week. Just had to jumping ~3-5x/wk, ie in between runs, before runs, etc. Then if I took a day or two off, and focused simply on jumping, i'd jump pretty decent.

IIRC, I got my L-SLRVJ up to ~32-33" last year while running? I forget, but I did hit some serious jumps while not doing any lifting, running alot, and jumping alot.

So it's doable, especially if you are "built better for SLRVJ" for example.

peace!!

oh i see. yea that fit in well with your endurance training. dunno how to explain it, but does it ever feel like 1 foot jumping is another thing apart from 2 foot jumping? 2 foot seems so power/strength/muscle oriented sometimes whereas 1 foot is like more bouncy/leverage dominant/whatever you call it lol.

yup. and yea IT's wingspan to height ratio is sick, but there's probably plenty of even bigger ratios in the NBA lol. just off the top of my head of players right now, kawhii lenoard. 6'6 without shoes, 7'3 wingspan

gonna rest up for the rest of this month. definitely seems like 1 foot is my bane though, even off my right leg. gonna keep stretching and when i return, get back to it off 2 feet.

seems like a tricky thing when you're a 2 foot jumper but trying to increase your 1 foot to be on par so that you can be good at both. just got a bit of minor knee pain though on friday and saturday in my right knee. same thing as before with my left knee, the quad tendon. gonna take atleast a week of rest and stretch AMAP.

i'm not the type of guy to give ppl high praise.... ive trashed mj, lebron , rwestbrook, and harden before.....

But Ben Simmons is the sickest player to come to the scene since...... i dunno lebron?

the only con of his game..... is his lack of wingspan/reach in comparison to his height.... this may be a slight disadvantage to a ball handler because ur hands aren't as low to the ground.....

vegas has a pre season mvp odds bets.... i bet they'll give ben simmons like 200-1 payouts or something sick.... im going to bet it every year and might hit sooner or later

anyone also think that a shorter wingspan/reach can be a slight advantage for shooting?

Bingo! i think you are totally right, but too short of wingspan is also bad.... like jj barea.  that is why KD is so impressive with his accuracy.....

me and u need to discuss bball for real.... i love to chat with sharp bball minds....

haha thanks. yea, off the top of my head, i picture jj barea with pretty short arms. he might be the only NBA player who i have a longer wingspan than. the shortest players that i searched up, kay felder, isaiah thomas, and tyler ulis all have longer wingspans than me by 1 or 2 inches lol (i'm 6 ft wingspan).

have learned how this whole training thing is more of a marathon than it is a sprint. but at the same time, i've recently also realized how finite our time is with our training careers(and to an extent, our time in life). so for me, think i'm gonna step it up a notch as i've been really more so been going through the motions as of late with my jumping sessions. also definitely need to get back in the gym ASAP.

i see, nice. seems like the squat does a lot for the VJ. but yea, remember seeing a clip of you dunking 2 handed off a standstill and that was pretty crazy

just curious, do you still maintain your SVJ? have seen parts of your log, and seems like you're focused completely on just lifting now

hmm, i actually kinda like going up with my left hand off RL. basically just a mirrored LR right hand plant lol. definitely never gonna change plants ever again though now lol.

For discussion: easier to change plants or change hands?

"plant probably, but not easier to jump as high when changing your plant - I think actually doing it doesn't feel that bad though for most people, so initially they may go "I can do this!!" then months later you see they still can't get up in that plant

Changing hands is easier from the perspective of actually landing dunks, if the vert is the same.

If you look at it from the perspective of someone short with a low reach, who needs a serious vert to dunk, changing hands seems 1000x easier than changing plant, in my humble opinion.

peace!!"

damn i can relate with that so much. tried to switch from RL->LR completely twice. overall put in almost a year's time with the LR plant, but yes, i was never be able to get up with it. it also just feels weaker because my right leg is stronger than my left too.

but yea, off two feet, am going full RL for the rest of my dunking career. in terms of switching hands btw, do you think there is much incentive to go lefty?
