For my unilateral training, I was wondering which of these to use.  Which is better for single leg jumpers looking to improve vertical?

I can't do WALKING lunges, because in my gym, it's very hard to walk around with a barbell on me(too crowded/narrow spaces)

You worry too much. Do any of these. Heck, alternate them if anything. Talk less, do more.

ADARQ & LanceSTS - Q&A / Re: How to improve running vertical jump?
« on: May 02, 2011, 04:07:55 am »

Why is it that I jump the same height running from far out and jumping as I do off a slow and short distance run up?  how can I improve that?

It's because you don't actually benefit from all those additional steps. Taking myself as an example, when I was very "thin" (weighed 147 lbs) I used to jump very well off 7-10 steps of momentum. Now at 180 lbs I tend to jump well off 3-5 steps and actually jump worse from 7-10 steps because I'm more into accelerating into the jump now, whereas in the past I used a constant speed and jumped pretty much reactively at that speed, without force being an important factor. And obviously, I was weighing less.

It's still a matter of being able to amortizate properly in the last step, to prevent knee collapse and proper horizontal to vertical transformation of momentum, and for that you need strong quads and probably good calves.

if i was you i'd keep the same cal intake but make them better/cleaner calories initially then it that doesn't work then start to drop them slowly

:ninja:?

it = if

He means, he should try to get his calories from cleaner sources (and lose fat through hormonal manipulation) and if that doesn't work then start to eat less and less calories.

What does squat maintenance mean?

It means exactly that.

I'd love this video to be spammed with the 50 inch dot com spam that usually happens to jumping videos :D

And how's it going? I for one can't bend with my arms lower than knee level or else medial left buttock pain occurs. Non-injured I can put my palm on the floor (or could...).

Not sure what's going on, this is a self-diagnostic.

What's your strength level right now?

So what exactly did you changed in terms of nutrition? What and how often were you eating before and how about now?

I always thought Norway (well, actually Sweden but they're the same for me) is very civilized... like, you drop your camera on the street and come back the next day and find it there.

The funny thing is - during Vlad Tepes' time in Valahia (Dracula for those of you who like it shortened), that was actually the case. They didn't have cameras back then but you could find your bag of gold if you dropped it because the penalty was death by "pulling into sword". So... you know...

Unracking 405lbs at 132lbs bodyweight.

Has your core/midsection started to shake under that weight? If not, then that's incredible core strength.

Oh, another note:

If I sit exactly like in a leg extension position and extend the leg, the pain is felt in the left buttock. It might actually be an injury that happened because I started to do high volume leg extensions? Maybe there was a muscle that wasn't ready for that? Or it's totally unrelated and it's just a matter of that muscle hurting when it's stretched by my position with the leg extended at the knee and body bent at the waist?

I see you've been doing your share of leg extensions have you?
