Fast run - 4x5min intervals of 1km each @ 12km/hr

Notes:

Ordered a GPS watch in case i start running outside. I'm prob going to do the majority of my running on the treadmill at home though. But i found a track about 25min drive that I can go occasionally and there is a nice road track around a lake near my place where they also hold weekly parkruns which  i can go if the weather permits. We'll see. I have no idea how my running on the treadmill will translate to running on other surfaces? Might do a test some time but right now im too unfit to bother really.

Any major high schools around your area or Little Athletics Clubs? You may be surprised and find a track closer than 25 minutes away.

Ohhhhhh i see the source of confusion!  Australia doesn't have a full court pickup culture. I played a full court pickup game in teh US when i visited in 2016 and it was super fun but we don't have anyting like tha here.  I could prob count the number of full court pickup games ive played on one hand, maybe one or two lol. We have played scratch matches but that's rare too (hard to get enough ppl to come down at a given time). That would be super valuable though to be able to play full court simulation at a relaxed pace for training. We only have half court pickup games here and they're next to useless for training. So that's why when i refer to full court competitive games - i mean exactly that, in a league with off-season macho AFL players with too much aggression and very little beauty to their game. It's either full on competitive, im going to play aggressive and physical or half hearted pickup with zero defence - nothing in between. I'm actually giving very little attention to basketball from a training perspective, save the odd shoot around to keep the skills fresh.

It's the same in Adelaide and Sydney. Most decent players only play club or social exclusively. The pick up games we play are filled with international students, a few Africans, off season guys like me, and ex-basketball players, and they are usually always 3 on 3 to the 3 point line or 4 on 4 to half court. Whenever we play full court it just turns into a lay up fest. Overall the standard is very poor as there's such a diversity of skill levels. Some players are very good but there are others who play like they have never played an official game in their life. The atmosphere is variable as well depending on the personalities. Usually it's very relaxed and casual but other times there's threats and physical altercations. I'm in a facebook group where we have 50 members and we always post each week where we are going to play. I actually haven't played at all since last year / beginning of this year.

Going to the US is a dream of mine not to play basketball just to travel but it would be cool to see what pick up is like over there.

with the treadmill run I want to start at around 36km/h and then try progress on wards. Good session.

That seems a little fast doesn't it? Be careful, don't end up on a gym fails YT compilation.

I did some treadmill runs at 23km/h and it was fairly comfortable but as I tried to grab the side railings to prop myself up to put my legs to the side, my left hand missed the railing and I slipped and fell on my knees on the treadmill, not really that scary, but something I have to get used to.

Ouch! Sounds painful. The max speed of the treadmills at my gym are 23km/h as well, which to me feels like a fast jog.

Basically a book about mindset, spending less then you earn, saving 20-30% of your income and investing that savings into assets.

I can't wait to purchase another house!!! Currently I have 671k worth of property (bank valuation from September 2018) and debts against those properties of 560k. My plan is to work on reducing my debts against my PPOR and then purchasing another house in late 2019/early 2020.

Update-

Same story just been lazy and unmotivated. I had a wedding on the weekend so spent most of the weekend inebriated.

I caught up with my best friend from primary school tonight and we shooted hoops at our primary school. My left achilles felt sore after about 30 minutes of shooting and jumping around. We ended up shooting for around 90 minutes (time goes quick). We both laughed about how out of shape we are.

trump is a con artist who was set up by his cunning but amoral slum lord of a father and then repeatedly bailed out by the man for most of his life. not a great example of "how to get rich" even if you're already rich.

Fair call!

Kiyosaki is close with Trump, which is probably why he used him as an example.

Kiyosaki was referring to taking on debt to buy assets e.g. residential property and then when the asset appreciates use the equity as a deposit for another property. As a result your debt has increased but so has your potential wealth assuming the property generates rental income and appreciates over time.

Low motivation atm.

Exercise Bike-
150 calories.

Squat-
60x5
90x5x3

Not doing much. Achilles has gotten better. Not getting out of bed sore everyday, which is good. Sometimes just the little things like walking around pain free are blessings.

^^ that sounds pretty motivating tho IMHO :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :highfive:

one quote i really loved from an elite runner I know of, "be gentle with yourself". that def stuck with me.. was basically saying, it's fine not to beat yourself up, let the fitness/progress come slowly, safely, etc.

Yeah I still can't even bench though. My shoulder has the flexibility and it's much better then before when I couldn't even do chin ups or pull ups without pain but bench it just puts too much pressure on the right shoulder- even db's. I haven't been doing as much track as I'd like because the weather is fkn cooked. Last night we had a massive storm with wind literally blowing roofs off of houses. Usually at this time it's scorching hot with minimal rain. If I was more motivated I'd run rain, hail or shine but I'm not.

I read Robert Kiyosaki's book 'Why the Rich are Getting Richer'. If any of you have read Rich Dad Poor Dad you'll find that Kiyosaki tends to ramble and embellishes a lot of stories about his 'rich dad'. The gist of Why the Rich are Getting Richer is because instead of focusing on income, the rich are focusing on growing their asset base, which unlike income from a job is taxed at a much lower rate. For example if you earn 70k from a job you'll pay 14k in tax so you're left with 56k. However, if you invest in a house and it realises a capital gain of 70k in one year no tax is paid and the house also provides rental income. The capital gain of the house can then be leveraged to purchase more assets. He basically says that the poor/middle class are too busy focusing on income and consuming instead of working on accumulating assets.

The controversial part of the book is that Kiyosaki believes the approach used in "The Millionaire Next Door" of living below your means and setting aside 10% of your income for investment in stocks is now redundant. He frequently mentions that savers are losers and advocates for taking on large amounts of debt using Donald Trump as an example of master of debt.
