brb sprinting bilaterally.

That's why for me - jumping off two has never been natural. When you walk/run you don't bounce on two feet. Jumping is just an exaggerated, longer "step" on one leg to me. And we're built to move unilaterally.

(I actually jump off 1 foot as well, but jumping off 2 never felt natural to you because you are uncoordinated, not because it's a weird movement).

I jump off both 1 and 2 feet pretty darn good. Both feel completely natural. Maybe I'm just uber-coordinated.

that isn't natural blu, we are unilateral creatures blu.

Well duh, finally. Thank you.

can you do seven bands?

Seven rubber bands. I could never understand why he's using, you know, SEVEN rubber bands on occasion.

One bilateral jump takes about 10 times the effort I need to jump off one leg. Totally ineffective, in terms of everything else than force (slower speeds, worse leverages, harder on joints (yes, the one leg jump is smooth and without that much joint shock, in the bilateral jump there's a HUGE perpendicular to the ground (more or less) BRUTAL SHOCK in a successful DLVJ), more effort needed and so on and so forth).

You people need to start bouncing around instead of walking and running if two footed stuff is such a good and efficient movement.

It's actually a weird, illogical movement. What does coordination have to do with something that we're not naturally built to do? Jumping should be done unilaterally because we move unilaterally.

You should sing some Survivor or Journey songs!

Eye of the tiger = WIN. I will try but I'm not sure how it goes.

No ^^ not blatantly, but a weak posterior chain will still negatively affect short sprints just like will a jump.

Whats happening with the 40yd dash times is guys are getting coached to run the race.  The start itself can make the difference in tenths of a second, add in learning to use the valsalva maneuver and correct early acceleration mechanics and you can have a less gifted athlete smoke a more highly gifted one in that event.  The vertical jump is not coached as in depth by MOST coaches, and even then, improvements arent going to be as drastic as they will with the 40.

Anyone interested in a better 40yd dash time should read Joe Defrancos book "The 40YD Dash" , its one of the best resources you will ever find for this event.

Yeah but still,

The top verters are nowhere in the 40 & vice-versa. Not one top 15 verter makes the top 15 of the 40, not one top 15 40dash makes the top 15 of the vert.

It doesn't make any sense for this to happen.

What if he was armed? Oh wait, he was armed alright!

5219
You think that 40 yards are enough for that difference to become obvious?

What's this "spine" thing you're talking about?
