i have belatedly found that taking an extra second or two under the bar to make sure i'm really squeezing everything up top makes a huge difference. for me it doesn't take more than that, if i've just had the intention up front i'm better off. it's funny, i've been squatting more or less consistently for five years at least and there's still a LOT for me to learn about it.

brain hurts badly. took some vitamin I and lay down for 40 minutes with the lights off but i feel no better. no gym tonight. damn it.

gay dodgeball
:uhcomeon:

literally, a dodgeball league made up entirely, or almost entirely, of gay men: http://stonewalldodgeball.leagueapps.com/.

^^^yes.

yesterday:

- hard run x 10 mins
was thinking about what acole said about 8 minute 95RPE runs. i structured my morning (and my friday night) around being able to go to the gym at 11 and it was occupied by gay dodgeball, which was frustrating. so i took it out on myself by running very hard for ten minutes. RPE was not 95, maybe like 85, in part because of red lights. 95RPE you really need a track.

- stretch

this morning:

WEIGHT: ???
SORENESS: none
ACHES/INJURIES: right toe a lot, enough to impede movement sometimes
MENTAL STATE: mildly hung over

- warm up

- DLRVJ x ~15
not great but pretty solid considering how late i was out last night. a couple ~35+. and how much my toe was bothering me.

- stretch

it's hard to say man. everything happens pretty quickly but there's not much to show how high you're getting. it looks like your approach is really inefficient: you seem to be shuffling your feet at the end and taking a little hop step before you plant. approach should be a smooth acceleration into the plant.

watch me at 0:23 and 1:15 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaiZOr-tOcw

then watch scooby here: http://www.adarq.org/progress-journals-experimental-routines/scooby-2011-journal/msg104719/#msg104719.

see the difference? i'm not wasting any steps, each step i take adds speed, but not so much that i collapse or can't convert it into the jump. scooby got way better after this -- and i used to jump like that, too -- but in this vid he's chopping his feet and it's ruining his shit. read through the comments from me and chris and others about his approach over the next few pages of his journal.

WEIGHT: ???
SORENESS: none
ACHES/INJURIES: right toe a bit
MENTAL STATE: okay

- warm up
did a few DLRVJ in the squash court. no bball court jumps in too long.

- depth jump @16" x 10,10
second set better.

- rhythmic jump squat 50;60;70;80;90;70;60 x 5

- squat 205 x 2,2,2,2,2,2

- superset x 3
-- inverted row x 14,14,13
-- push up x 23,23,17
weak on the third set of push ups. yeesh.

- stretch

kind of impossible to tell there because of the angle and the speed.

but your feet pointed downward at some point, which means you have calves, so that's good.

So when I get back into it should I do unilateral exercises with my right leg since it is significantly atrophied at the moment? Thanks.

unilateral and bilateral. yes.
