3 calf raises = impossible

I'm serious. I had my brother do them and he was able to pump out 20 with ease...I have small feet (size 8 ) and long toes, so perhaps I don't have a long enough base to do single leg calf raises?

no. again, you can walk. therefore you can do more than three calf raises. can you take a video? maybe you're doing something crazy?

funny you ask that, i've been thinking about balance stuff. color me unconvinced by a single study with a sample size of 23 15-year-olds, but interesting. do you have the full paper by chance? never mind free full text is linked there.

it is impossible that you can only do 3 single leg calf raises. i do not believe it. your calves are strong enough for you to have, in population-wide terms, a well-above-average jump -- not to mention the ability to walk. i demand video evidence of your failure.

do your calves really go up and down in size that much when you're doing raises vs. when you're not?

yes. and i really like the bloatedness when i do them with a bent knee (soleus). it does not tire my lowerback from supporting heavy weights.

the soleus gets sore but it seems to not have anything to do with walking as much as the gastrocs.

- cook hip lifts
- KB swings
bunch of sets of each

yesterday afternoon (7/5):

- touch football x an hour
nothing too intense, just goofing around. made a sick diving fingertip grab for a TD at one point.

tonight (7/6):

WEIGHT: ???
SORENESS: quads a little
ACHES/INJURIES: right toe
MENTAL STATE: good

- warm up

- depth jump @8" x 10,10

- jump squat 55 x 8,8

- squat 260 x 6; 270 x 6; 275 x 6,6,6
again, later sets stronger

- stretch

ran out of time to do upper

THREE single leg calf raises? did you recently have surgery? that is impossibly low, my 88-year-old grandmother could do three single leg calf raises.

had the stroke by my standards, hitting prob 60% of jump shots and 90% FTs.

- foam roll quads x 10-15/head

- stretch quads

- mess around with knee tracking in right leg

- superset x 3
-- cook hip lift x 15
-- x-band walk x 20

- more stretching

claimed 50+ vertical. could in fact jump pretty high, but stills purporting to show him jumping head-over-rim were really just pictures of him after grabbing the rim, doing a pull up and launching himself up from there. faaaaaker.

glad you're back. question: given your meet lifts, your working weights seem kind of low, at least for the rep ranges you're working in. like 365 x 6 is a strong squat but it wouldn't make me think you could squat 556. same for bench with 285 x 3 for working sets with a 391 max. and yet on that squat set it looks like you are decently challenged by the weight. what changed, or are you just some kind of 1RM monster who can't rep out to save his life?
