i haven't listened to louie yet, i don't listen to most of joe rogans podcasts theres so many and most are with either comedians/ufc people. however the rhonda patrick ones are awesome.

yes sam harriss is awesome, love his stuff. his books too are great. i recently just read 'super intelligence' by nick bostrom, the kind of bible on AI - really really interesting stuff.

Nutrition & Supplementation / Ashwagandha

Some of you may have seen me talking about ashwagandha on my log, i've been taking it fairly consistently (minus holidays) for a while and I have to say I'm pretty impressed.

-It's DEFinitely anxiolytic, it helps me sleep, makes me more 'level'. therefore helps deal with stress etc.
-But interestingly, there are studies suggesting it improves POWER OUTPUT. - something im sure most of adarq.org is interested in.
-been shown to drop cortisol and all the benefits associated with this (think ^^ testosterone)
-lots of suggestion of neuroprotective, improved cognition etc
-shown to drop c-reactive protein (Read v inflammation)

i take the organic india version from amazon, seems pretty legit. - has anyone else taken it? the KSM-66 extract seems like it may be better but its expensive.

Anybody into podcasts? they're pretty convenient, i listed to them all summer whilst working manual labour - basically learning and getting paid to do so. now its useful for like long journeys and standing in cues, doing housework etc. better than tv!

some of my favourites
-skeptics guide to universe (general science0
-tim ferris..
-joe rogan depending on who he's talking to, he just did one with louie simmons
-bbc4 do some good shorter ones
-dan carlins hardcore history is AMAZING

any other reccomendations?

it's probably mentioned in the article but - how is your hip flexor flexibility?

reciprocal inhibition of glutes due to tight illiopsoas can be pretty notable i've found - try stretching hip flexors before glute activation stuff and i feel you'll definitely notice a difference.

also one of the best things i ever did for glute activation was buy one of these:

ps. also wide stance bulgarian split squats make your butt sore like nothing else

Article & Video Discussion / Re: Hypoxic training
« on: September 25, 2016, 04:22:03 pm »
i think the key thing is

the article says: 'Training in this environment will boost the production of red blood cells and aid stamina.'

LIVING a sedentary life at altitude will do this. Until you have adapted, you're training intensity will not be as good (if ever). (unless you're a thrower - those guys love thin air lol ala mexico city olympics)

i disagree - i don't think short exposure to hypoxic conditions is good for anything in particular.

certainly anything anaerobic i think its basically irrelevant... i'll post longer when i have more time. i did a whole module on this last year and our lead lecturer was pretty against the 'oxygen' mask fad...its a big scam basically. there are hypobaric 'tents' or 'houses' which are used by nordiic skiiers etc which may be good...but the masks....i wouldn't waste my money/time/dignity

live high - train low seems to be the way to go

you get physiological adaptations of living high...(aka hypoxia) but if you also train high, you can't reach the same intensity as if you'd trained low

Not sure if it's been mentioned as haven't really kept up with this thread but just wanna mention how great team GB did placing second overall

GBs ~70 million vs China's 1.3+ billion population... pretty incredible to beat them. I wonder if we can catch the US one day  :trolldance:
