My team won 24-0 against the Roosters on the weekend  ;D

I have been treating my achilles conservatively so haven't been training. I will commence training again next week.

I caught up with a friend for dinner tonight. He's a couple of years younger than me and he started hanging out with me and my circle of friends when we were 15. At the time he was an innocent kid from a good family who never drank, smoked or touched drugs. I've never done drugs either (excluding alcohol as a drug). Unfortunately I feel like we led him astray because soon after he started hanging out with us, he started doing all of those things. Tonight I saw him and he was on meth and proudly telling me about selling drugs and who he was going to bash over unpaid ticks (drug debts)  :(

The sad thing is about 4 years ago I lent him money  as he had sold all of his possessions to get drugs. At the time I lectured him about making better decisions and avoiding drugs, which he promised me he would. 12 months ago he came to me begging for help because people were after him. I told him I would not give him money but I would stand by him as I knew the people who he owed money to and I resolved the situation without anybody getting physically hurt. Once again I lectured him about the dangers of the drug industry and how he has an opportunity with his life to turn it around...it obviously fell on deaf ears.

As a drunk it sounds hypocritical but I wish he would get his shit together. I'm not the kind of person to walk away from long time friends but when people refuse to change it makes friendships difficult. As a realist his situation does not look good. Apart from me and 1 or 2 childhood friends all of his friends / acquaintances are career criminals and junkies. His family abandoned him 4 years ago and he currently lives in a squalor share house with 4 others who also have drug habits. With the quantities that he is now dealing with I'm certain that it will only be a matter of time before he is in for a long prison stint...the irony is that he cannot even see that he is a junkie and has a serious problem as he views himself as a dealer  :uhhhfacepalm:

Thanks brother!

We had our first game of the season and won convincingly 60-16.

I scored a couple of tries and got named as one of the "stand out performances of Round 1".

Unfortunately with about 10 minutes to go of the game my left Achilles Tendon played up again so I'm going to be out for a couple of weeks while I let it rest  :(

I'm number 4.

6 years ago on this day I was working in a meat factory for $20.50 an hour starting at 4am. Every day I would wake up early, get to work and watch the clock and calculate the money in my head. 90 minutes prior to close I'd hose down and clean all the machines, and come home soaking wet smelling like meat. At the time I felt very resentful because I had gone to uni for 4 years, which cost me 40k. Yet here I was underutilised, working in a low paying job, with most of my colleagues barely able to speak English. These days I have a much better job and earn double the amount, but I still feel miserable. 6 years ago if I was in my current position I would feel happy. However, now I still feel underutilised...

League Training-
We're getting more and more players each week. We're only running 1 team this year so there are going to be lots of players that miss out. First game is next Sunday. Training was good tonight. I suffered a corky about 20 minutes into training but trained through it. Feels sore now but should be fine in a couple of days. The reason for the resurgence in numbers is that some of my team mates from the 2017 Bulldogs team have decided to play, which has encouraged other players to come out. We still haven't moved to our new home ground yet but being in a more central location also helps with recruitment. I want to play this wing this season but I have a feeling the coach wants to play me as a fullback or in the centers this season.

400m Sprinting or Shorter / Re: The Sprinting News Thread

nice. u stay on top of that aussie sprint scene hah.

Yeah hopefully we can get another sub 10 sprinter soon. Rohan Browning is 21 (10.08 PB), Trae Williams is 21 (10.10 PB) and Jack Hale is 19 (10.19 PB). Josh Clarke is 23 and has a 10.15 PB but the last couple of years he has been cut down by hamstring injuries.

10.08 100m for Browning.
"Two more Aussies ran PBs, in third place Jack Hale, for the second week in a row, took 0.01 off his 100m PB, clocking 10.19 and in fifth, local Alex Hartmann ran 10.27 (0.02 from his PB). Jake Doran, with 10.32 (his third fastest ever time) rounded out a terrific 100m for the Aussies".

31 players tonight. Awesome training session.

Yesterday I went for a 7km walk, which took 1 hour and 15 minutes.

League Training-
Numbers have increased again. We had 29 players at training and ran through some offensive structures and worked on defense. My body is feeling very fresh atm. No aches, no soreness, no injuries. A rugby league crossbar is 3m high and I can double hand grab it at will. 3 weeks left until our first game.

I started a new job on Monday, which I've enjoyed so far but it's only been a week. I sent an email to the Army explaining the situation and they have allowed me to defer my fitness test until the 29th of April.

congrats on the new job man!

I've been slack with the gym but I've been going to rugby league training. The season starts in 4 weeks. The numbers have lifted, which is good. We're now up to 26 players so there will be competition for positions. We had 18 players at training tonight so we could actually practice plays and have a productive training session. Off field we've secured a couple of new sponsors this season and retained our existing ones. In 2 weeks we move to a new home ground at Hanson Reserve. Overall the club is heading in a positive direction.

ah nice! rugby training sounds pretty good tho, makes slacking in the gym no much of a problem.

pc!

Thanks adarqui the new job has been very mentally refreshing. I even went 6 days without drinking, which is probably the longest abstinence period I've had for 5 years.
