Bodybuilding / stomach vacuum/waist thickness
« on: January 16, 2017, 01:44:54 pm »
anyone ever used these to improve their uhm, abdominal aesthetics?

LBSS talking about the greek measurements in his log got me thinking - my waist is TOO BIG. around the navel is like 34+ all the time...even with abs. i look bloated aaaaaaaaaaaaall the time, enough for people to comment like 'woah you gained weight?' until i lift my top up and they like huh?

some of its probably my APT but other than fixing this i wonder if stomach vacuums could help? seems you dont have to dedicate much time to them, just wondered if anyone had any sucess?

Strength, Power, Reactivity, & Speed Discussion / Re: Water Loss Techniques
« on: December 24, 2016, 03:55:48 pm »
had an interesting exp cutting for my last weightliftin comp, lost about 6kg in 24h. weigh in at 8am and lifting at 3-4pm made it all feasible.

-cut carbs, less glycogen = less water
-kept fat and protein high...any diff to actual body comp other than water irrelevant in this time frame
-lots of water leading upto, then cut that night...body keeps flushing
-hot bath....really helped but also scary...the combo of being dehydrated + then vasodilating all of your peripheral vasculature really drops your blood pressure and I had a pretty intense autonomic response to this drop in BP. really rapid HR, dizziness, tingling peripheries.....had to lay down for a while to let it settle, I was home alone so actually got a bit anxious id done something stupid
-wore a tonne of clothes.

in the morning felt pretty good. was obviously dehydrated af. slept well though. dry mouth = chewing gum helps. turned up weighed in then took on litres and litres of fluid...with food/salt/other electrolytes obviously and was feeling 100% a couple of hours later!

Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: ADARQ's journal

will journal later but, quick recap:

tamarac turkey trot: 7th overall (was 30+ last year), 1st for 30-34 (same as last year), 18:29 (20:07 last year)

2,100+ runners.

was humid af.. and slippery/wet from rain.. didn't push myself like I had planned.. really pussed out in the third mile, which is a shame. whatever...

had a decent enough time going into the 2 miles (~11:25) that I could have gotten sub 18 but just wimped out

trophy & gift basket:

in some good news.. i basically beat every1 who beat me last year.. and who beat me like 4 races ago.

progress.  :wowthatwasnutswtf: :ibrunning:

out of interest - in the races you've run so far, how many people forefoot/midfoot strike vs heelstrike? i imagine 5ks would attract more of the ffs/mfs crowd?

maybe you wouldn't have noticed if you're busy racing haha.

also - how does one warm up for a 5k? does everyone just jog around for 5-10 mins or what? dynamic stretching type stuff?

sorry if i missed you mentioning this earlier in your log somewhere!

- you are gonna need a new trophy cabinet soon!

hah ya.. i already do. I have everything on this small table and now I can't put my plaque on it.. too much stuff on there.. i've never been into collecting trophies but, for some reason, i've kept all of these running trophies. Some of them are pretty cool though - for example, the glass/crystal one.

motivating me to get some new running shoes and get back into it!

sick!!! :ibrunning:

i don't recommend those new balance RC5000v2's anymore but, that's just because (like you) I really do prefer 0-drop.. my saucony shay xc4's are nearly 2oz heavier but I run faster in them because the architecture of the shoe just gives me so much more spring/bounce. I feel mushy in my NB 5000V2's.

what kind of shoes are you thinking of getting?

ya the glass one was real nice. with the plaques and stuff, can you wall mount them..that could be pretty cool?

in regards to the shoes - i literally couldn't find the RC5000v2's in the UK anywhere, even NB Minimus trails are hard to find here bleh. I will have a search and see if i can find a retailer for the sauconys somewhere, they seem to be a bit cheaper than the NB anyway. I'm super broke atm so it's gonna be after christmas now anyway, maybe see what there is in the sale.

I felt so good when i was running 3-4x a week though, especially around my home home there were some real nice trails, now i'm back at university in a city it's a little less inspiring but there's still some pretty nice parks and stuff around
