Haha. I don't believe in generalizing, so I did not mean to say everyone has a front, it's not completely true, but if I were not to generalize my thoughts would take longer to write out. Sadly you can't get the most out of what I'm saying because you choose to ignore it and create this mob mentality. Those who do agree with me on some points won't speak out for the most part.

Raptor: unfamiliar things are always scary. Scary = unfamiliar. Something that is true for pretty much everyone who commented on my posts is that most of you don't actually like to think as much as yo like to rant/get emotional. I've said this before many times, but getting emotional is "gayer" than staying rational as I try to, and the person who intelligently criticized my generalizations. I stand by what I say and am not afraid to speak my mind like some of you here because once again, my confidence comes from within, not from what people on a forum have to say.

^ This is a great example of how people live with a front.
JC is trying to assert his dominance by insulting someone else, but he is merely expressing his insecurity in being called gay himself, or expressing his true thoughts, open to interpretation and perhaps destructive criticism of which he is afraid, perhaps due to his past complications with ED or w/e that was, (it's okay, my first gf sometimes couldn't give me a hard on, just wasn't sexually turned on by her much, so there are many reasons), but mostly just because of the front he has in order to gain status. I am not using these tactics to gain status, because my perception of status is generated in my own mind, not in the minds of forum members.

See I'm not speaking maliciously, this is just what I am thinking and I am most probably right. Most people on this forum are living in fear, and promote mob mentality, use pictures/emoticons to assert their dominance by attempting to ridicule others when they themselves are incredibly weak inside.

I don't know what's going on but there are serious issues here. THis is going to be a long post but I am really trying to help all parties, and I've worked hard on my inner self and it has really paid off, daily interactions just improves, life just improves, suffering decreases.

SO:

It's okay for men to cry. I learned this recently at ultimatemenssummit.com, where these older men are promoting the idea that being stern and unemotional was the old-school concept of masculinity. It's okay to harbor grief, and can be quite therapeutic with a circle of men.

However, we all need to be one with that inner light, that inner confidence, the third chakra (solar plexus) that deals with self-confidence issues. A lot of us, due to lack of self confidence have a front in this world. I mean most of us don't use our real names on this forum, and we bash others under this veil.

Once we remove all layers, nothing can harm us really, because we know who we are - sure we are material beings, we live via our senses, and are concerned, perhaps too much with what others think about us, and that material stuff is important, but harboring a stronger less material sense of confidence is going to help everyone. Even I have shit to be unconfident about. I have gyno, but now I live with it, and people love me.

Meditation will solve all these problems. It will slow you down, and you will be like "why so serious? . . ahhhh." It's not some new age shit. It's just exercise for the brain, it reduces emotional swings (if you want that reference PM, cuz I can't find it right now and it's too late), so helps provide us with that sense of self. Adarq's a celeb, celebs get this shit all the time where they feel like people hate them, whether its beiber, some forum guy, or paris hilton.

However, if people hate you, you are hating something as well. It's reciprocal. And adarq has a lot of hate in his videos, even though it's for entertainment. You put out nasty, you get nasty back. Karma, newton's laws, doesn't matter. Now although adarq acts cray in his videos, I'm surprised sometimes because he acts really nice in most of his posts, at least on this forum, with smileys, lmaos and such. It's difficult to articulate all this, but the most important concept is... meditate and you'll find answers. Meditation WILL make you wiser

I've looked into this once, the problem is that there is confusion as to where the alkalinity is.. It's definitely not in your blood, if it were you'd be f***Ed. It may be urine, but I still don't know, thoughts?

Also you can eat acidic foods like meat and still have alkaline urine, if urine is what is supposed to be alkaline.

As I mentioned in the post on barefoot training in the Lance STS section (of which I just read the rules and will stop posting my own opinions), when I jump in barefooted I realize that my feet exist to propel me.. It feels way better every single time. I sprint sometimes with barefeet too, although sprinting in spikes is 500 times better than nike frees, and loads my ankles more than barefoot sprints I'd say.

Jumping in shoes (maybe vibrams would work, and track spikes do), tend to reduce achilles action for me. I don't feel it there and asa result jump 2-3 inches lower

My b, I'm just so eager. Still main point is, I need shoes that don't inhibit ankle/achilles power. SO I guess I'll add to this question...

Do you feel as if shoes can inhibit ankle power? Because I feel it can sometimes and would like advice on this. Legit 3 inches less jumping in nike frees off of 1 step rvj compare to socks.

You guys failed to understand what I was getting at.

Humans have the ability to decompress there spines too.

What happens during decompression?.

Go back to Reply #18.

where's the "spinal decompression", i can't find it.

super slow motion:

etc

^Perhaps MattyG, hold on one sec...

Go back to the first link adarq posted. Watch ASAFA: There is CLEARLY a head bobbing motion going on. In asafa it is the most pronounced, but if you look at Bolt you will see it during his start, and in the second part of the video/race.

I've done this myself, neck flexion in midair, then neck swings up/back a bit during leg extension and ground contact. MY HYPOTHESIS IS THAT YOU CAN ONLY DO THIS HEAD BOBBING AT SLOW STRIDES IN HUMANS. Both Asafa and Bolt have a slow stride rate. If you look at Tyson yo don't see any of this head bobbing.

My stride rate is fast, and I don't head bob. But when I'm just striding for practice, I can do this head bobbing thing. It doesn't make me faster though, just would give me neck cramps if I tried. maybe I should do plyometrics with my neck. I'm being serious actually because I think the neck bobbing does have an impact in slower stride rates. It's just awkward and probably bad for your brain to bob your head when you're striding as fast as Tyson.

Spinal decompression probably happens anyway without the head bobbing, but I don't understand how it could be the main reason why Bolt is the fastest human being, since asafa is clearly running this way as well and Tyson usually beats him. Well maybe Tyson's spine compresses too.

SO back to MattyG, this rounding thing you're seeing, is the neck flexion, conciding with knee extension in mid-air to prepare for powerful ground contact.

Speaking of POWER, this spinal decompression thing may be more relevant to more powerful activities, such as jumping.

Watch Aarik Wilson TJing, he has a mad head bob during his run, which is probably a lot slower than any elite sprinter, strides are slow.

Here is Carl Lewis, check out the extra head bobbing in the penultimate step
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5Sg_kACPRM

Again from personal experience, just today even, my head bobs were mad powerful during a heavy squat jump, deep with just 135 lbs. To lift it faster I had to flex at the neck (head bringing down closer to chest), then pop up as the bar goes up.

Ca'nt find any good VJ vids, but how many of you look down slightly before jumping? In 1 footed Vj looking down in the penultimate helps me the most. If I look up the whole time that would not work, with 1 or two.

I hope this fosters some discussion, this should not be ignored

If you're still sick drop the cheese. Eggs are also heavy, so you should add cayenne/turmeric/ginger, parsely. Get stuff like that in, spices that will just clear the body and burn the infection away. Of course you don't want to lose strength, so I guess keep the eggs, but add the spices

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hello
« on: August 03, 2011, 11:38:08 am »
Welcome. THere is something you can do for vertical jumping - mental training.

Everyday for 10 minutes at least, or 3x a week for 40min-1hour (the numbers don't matter really quality over quantity), Image yourself performing heavy squats, quick jump squats, powercleans, ump squats on a trampoline, and anything else you would do for explosiveness. THis can keep the recruitment sharp.

Good luck with the knee, maybe you could try the smith machine? Definitely easier for those with knee issues.

I'm not a huge reader of Lyle's stuff, it's too based in the broscience of cabs/proteins/fats but he is a smart guy. Just not interested in that it isn't useful.

lolwut.

His content is interesting, but it's broscience, because broscience = science regarding building muscle, and burning fat, to meet the stereotypical ideals of body image. Broscience does not talk about overall health, just how to look a certain way that may not even be ideal. CHicks don't even like 5% body fat, 10-20 they do.

I read Matt Stone of 180degree health a lot, haven't recently because of work but I was consistently earlier this summer.

Science is not necessary to decide if fruit is good or bad after a workout. Your hunger signals are.

I jump higher in barefeet than in the current shoes I have (Iverson 13s and nike frees 5.0). I feel more ankle power coming form there. I sometimes sprint on the track in barefeet too but I run faster in spikes, spikes give me even more ankle power though. All I gotta say is that I feel like I'm using foot/ankle power much more barefoot and some shoes totally hinder that. Adarq's waffle racers I have not tried but might be better becaue there is more of a forefoot but once I try those I'll know.

I think shin pain may be weak eccentric strength, butI don't know where. Hopefully you'll adapt

432
Yeah I changed to my real name.

It is an effective exercise but since I was maxing out I compromised form except for the third repetition. Yeah I used to sometimes put my feet on 10lb plates to get that extra achilles tendon involved, so wearing jumpsoles would be good. I usually just do these standing now, excpet I haven't done much lifting this summer since I've been doing bounding + sofa and vert been skyrocketing so doesn't matter. But today I did them again and I like them because I can target the vastus lateralis very well but can't in lunges or anything else as much. You can also rotate the bar as you lift it up, it's tremendous.

Another great variation is once I lift the weight up, I drop it down as fast as possible witout letting it hit the floor (pretty much my feet temporarily leave the floor while hips drop) and this rips up everything quite well, then jump back up. Can do that with lunges, squats, anything as long as the load is moderate and you don't kill yourself.

In all honesty though, that the running vertical jump lift is just a nitpicky way to train slightly more specifically. You'll get similar results in squats except glute/ham activation better with this

Anybody who is overly opinionated tends to hinder the processes devoted to rational and sane thought.

I wonder if I could survive with a car running me over

A recently study looked at galactose and fructose, concluding liver glycogen synthesis was enhanced. Avoiding fructose for whatever reason doesn't make sense. It just shows me how out of touch people are with their bodies and understanding its signals.
 http://journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/Abstract/publishahead/Fructose_and_Galactose_Enhance_Post_Exercise_Human.98977.aspx

There are plenty of studies showing that fructose and glucose enhance muscle glycogen stores as well.
