Football / Nate Gerry
« on: September 21, 2019, 07:07:14 am »
I was watching the Eagles play and I saw Nate Gerry and was impressed. All Nathan Gerry did was make plays when he got a chance to be on the field. I don't know what more he has to do to be full time starter!

Nate Gerry plays as a linebacker but during high school he also ran track.

100m- 10.67
200m- 21.52

He ran a 4.58 40 yard at the combine, which is good but doesn't reflect his true speed imo.

Joe Schobert is a fkn beast!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Schobert

https://dawgpounddaily.com/2019/09/18/cleveland-browns-joe-schobert-deserves-paid/

"Cleveland’s middle linebacker was all over the field as he racked up 13 tackles — 10 of which were solo — while also forcing a fumble as he knocked the ball out of the hands of New York running back Le’Veon Bell. He was good enough to be Cleveland’s highest-graded Browns defensive player, per the PFF Browns twitter account. As great as this was, it surely was no break-out game as Schobert has been one of the more consistent players on the team. Instead, it was more of the same as the 2017 NFL tackles leader does nothing but make plays for the Browns".

Watch the Jets safety #20 (Marcus Maye). He doesn't even realize OBJ has the ball!!!

I went to the Physio on Monday as planned.

I spent close to an hour there just going through the history of the injury and the Physio had a look at my Achilles and felt it/pressed it trying to find out where the pressure points were. I explained that I had been doing some home rehab, which mainly consisted of stretching and calf raises. However, this has led to minimal improvement. Instead of more calf raises the Physio prescribed another exercise, which I have been doing as instructed.

The exercise is standing up on my toes for 25 seconds and then resting for 30 seconds. This is done for 5 sets three times throughout the day. It's Saturday now and it doesn't really feel like it's done anything but I'll stick with it. I have another appointment with the Physio on Monday so we'll see what the next step is. I'm still convinced that I need surgery to fix this.

A lot of articles were saying the USA pretty much sent their C grade team.

Australia was winning by 10 points at one stage against Spain in the Semi Finals. Ended up losing to Spain in double overtime and then lost the Bronze medal game to France to finish the tournament in 4th, which is a disappointing result.

Bogut wasn't happy :trolldance:

two years to wait for surgery in the public system? yeesh. i wonder what non-emergency ortho waiting times are like on medicaid (public insurance only for low-income/poor people) in the US.

how much would the private surgery cost? and do you have insurance that would cover it or would it be out of pocket?

I went back to my GP yesterday because my Achilles is not feeling any better at all! He called the Flinders Medical Centre and they said I still have at least 2 years to wait because I was triaged as a semi-urgent case. Non-urgent patients have 10+ year waiting periods.

Private surgery would cost thousands and even with private insurance I would still be up for out of pocket costs.

fuck that's awful. god damn. :/

how much would private surgery cost? do they give you the estimates etc?

The GP said it would be at least $5000.

A new rugby league team has started in Adelaide and they inquired about my services. I told them that I was injured and pretty much retired due to my Achilles. They have offered to pay for my physiotherapy with the catch being that I had to play for them if my Achilles recovers in time (before March 2020) so I have my first appointment with a physio tomorrow. I'm fairly skeptical whether the physio will be able to do much to recover the injury but at this stage I'm willing to try it.
