vag... you cant jump high coz of... your becoming heavy?... cns is not amped up?
why the drop off in jumping performance?  coz this happens to me also...
one day... you jump effortless...  like hang on the rim with two hands... then the next day i cant even touch the rim man!
what is the explanation to this?

There are many factors that can affect a jumping day:
Fatigue , soreness , CNS amp , useless weight ( water retention, glycogen, unreleased shit ) etc.
You can't really do much , only learn to 'read' those factors and kinda affect them.

So for last night my excuses were :
-not recovered from lifting previous night, muscles felt "stiff".
-bad bodyweight planing , too much carbs and water inside.
-no caffeine.

For a perfect jumping session you could:
-squat MSEM submax ( 80-85% ) 2 days before.
-plan your eating and shiting so when you go jump you are 'empty' of useless weight ( eat big previous day , eat light and may fibres the same day ).
-use stimulants to boost your CNS ( caffeine , taurine , creatine , NitricOxide supplements etc ).

General rule : don't freak out , if you squatted intense the previous day you probably won't jump as high, CNS and muscles are not recovered. If your legs are recovered and want to push your jumps , take a good shit , drink a strong coffee and a redbull 45 minutes before going to jump and that's all.

What is definitely certain is that having more strength allows you to use a deeper bend and load at much higher velocities/depths than not having as much strength.

Agreed.

(since strength is what Vince lost while getting old).

Why did he lose his strength? How do you know?

why is everyone just talking out of their ass, i don't get it.

Those fucked up threads are beginning to get really annoying!
Backpedal strokes , NBA players that don't train because they can already dunk , top secret T-DUB secret and so on...

Raptor, we all agree there are better and worse plants ( although you are being dogmatic about rotation etc , each body is different and has a different optimal plant ).

EDIT : picking random Vince Carter videos , comparing uneven things (old VC - young VC / open court one hander - pivot dropstep 2 hander) and making arguments and rules out of it = broscience.

But this is a wrong thread to talk about this , this is a thread that talks about "T-DUBS biggest secret. Elastic winding & coiling."

Bodyweight@session : ~189.5 ,  too much water , net weight in the morning was 183.5 :uhhhfacepalm:
Injuries/aches : none
Soreness : none

Tried to get a ME jumps & dunks session but failed terribly.
Got up to 32'' on submax warmups but that was it.
At all ME jumps i couldn't get over 31'' , although 31'' was rather effortless.
Ball palming was awful too.
Tried to experiment dunking without palming the ball , yet another fail!
I didn't even manage to dunk 9'8'' one handed ( although i dunked it 2-handed off a dropstep , WTF? )

( :uhhhfacepalm: +  :pissed: ) x 1000

HANG JUMP SNATCH:
6x3@45lbs
-Very light load but that's all i have at home. Focused on jumping as much as possible.

EXPLOSIVE PARALLEL BOX PISTOL SQUATS:
10x2@BW+45lbs.
-Changed the way i do those from 1:1:1 to 2:0:1
So far i would lower normally , sit for 1 second at the box and explode up.
Now i lowered slow ( full control ) and tried to reverse and explode immediately at box contact.

Looking strong and good form ^^^ :strong:

Great speed too , 285x5 looks like light weight for you!  :highfive:  :ibsquatting:

Well , there you go!
This has gone too long , but 7'7'' + 31''= 10'2''
There is no way in this world you can dunk 10' when you can reach 2'' above the rim.
So when you dunked you jumped higher , even with raptor's extreme claim of dunking with only 5'' above the rim you would still need 34'' to dunk.
Sometimes it happens, the runup & plant are just perfect and you get a crazy PR jump. This is much more probable to happen on a single leg jump too because of the reactive nature of it , double leg jumps have much less fluctuation.

Ok , enough hijacking...

-Impossible to be 6' / 6'1'' wingspan / 31'' maximum running vert and be able to dunk 10'. I am 6'1'' with 6'5'' wingspan and i still need ~34'' to dunk.

Huh? I'm 6'0 with a 6'2 wingspan and I can dunk with a ~30 inch vert. I just need to get my thumb of the palming hand over the rim and that's it.

WTF?  You would have to palm the ball damn good , and i still doubt you could do it. What is your standing reach? Mine is 7'11'', 30'' is only 10'5'' for me.
Generally i'd say you need 8 - 10 inches above rim to dunk clean , i'd accept 7'' with perfect palming and timing and everything, but 5'' is pushing it too much.

On a SLRVJ, you don't really lose height on your jump with the ball, and I agree with Raptor, you can (not all the time) but dunk with 5-6inches over the rim.  If you have a powerful arm swing with the ball, the ball with hover on your fingers (not palm)and you can swing it hard to dunk it without losing control of the ball.  No?

I have dunked clean on a 9'6" rim before when I was jumping 35" at max (10'0" touch) using what I described above.

7'11 reach for me as well. But if I have a 6'2 wingspan and you have a 6'5 wingspan (how do you have such a HUGE wingspan?!?!) how can we reach the same height? You must have a really high neck and long head or something, so the 6'5 wingspan loses length to cover that distance. WTF :ninja:

BTW - I can't dunk without palming the ball. Not even at lower rims.

Raptor indeed i have long neck & head. Btw , i am 6'1'' in bball shoes , barefoot height is just below 6' ( 182.5cm ) , loooong hands!

Ineedtodunk  good point, Kellyb discusses that technique in this article : http://www.higher-faster-sports.com/lastlittlebit.html
Personally i can't use that , to get clean dunks at a rim i need to be able to get ~9'' above it without the ball. And if i can't palm the ball i need like 10-12 inches above , for cuffed one-handers or two-handers.
I probably just suck at dunking, LOL

I meant that it is :
-Impossible to have 8.9% bodyfat and have some belly fat , 8.9% is seriously ripped!
-Impossible to be 6' / 6'1'' wingspan / 31'' maximum running vert and be able to dunk 10'. I am 6'1'' with 6'5'' wingspan and i still need ~34'' to dunk.
Not saying you are lying , you just probably got some numbers wrong.

Bodyweight@session : ~188 ,  :uhhhfacepalm:
Injuries/aches : none
Soreness : none

~1,5 hour of shooting around , random rim jumps and dunk attempts in there.
Was bloated , had a few unplanned beers this noon so they ruined my session. Not feeling explosive/springy , legs got tired soon too.
Best SVJ ~28.5'' , best RVJ ~32''.
As time passed jumps were getting better, managed to get a couple of 9'10'' dunks but decided not to push it too much to keep legs fresh for a better session.

wait, t-dub has a secret technique to jump insane? who taught it to him? or does he do it naturally? and if people incorporate this spiraling technique, how many instant inches can they expect?.

It's not really a secret technique.

All T-DUB is doing is squaring up his body/feet to the basket (increasing elastic torque throughout his whole body, mainly achilles tendons) enjoy being a rare freak of nature, as opposed to you who dunks mainly head on.  Your not storing & releasing any elastic energy dunking that way the vast majority of people that have to work their asses off under the squat bar hoping to reach just some decent percentage of his inhuman natural strength/power levels.

T-DUBS secret lies in his Achilles tendons due to all the winding/twisting his body imparts on them when he plants his feet through 100's/1000's of dunks genetics , all he has to do is get off the couch and jump 50''. Whatever he does , boingvert , air alert , backpedal bike , abs&stretch ( AUT ) will seem to work and gain him inches.

There is no way performing weighted calf raises can compete in terms of generating elastic energy with the technique/forces T-DUB generates when planting/dunking. (Refer back to the quote in OP/watch vid) anyone sane would believe that being probably the best jumper/dunker in the whole word has to do with some ankle rotation.

Bam.

Fixed

BODY TYPE: Athletic but kind of skinny. 8.9% body fat (little belly fat...) Asian

Not possible!

HEIGHT: 6"0
wingspan: 6"1
CURRENT ABILITY: only dunked with one hand two times. standing vertical 29" running vertical one leg: 31" two legs: 30"

Not possible!

What should I do? How am I going to design a program that fit myself.
