Progress Journals & Experimental Routines / Re: Dreyth's New Journal
« on: October 31, 2018, 08:48:41 pm »
I miss Dreyth!!!

Hope you're doing well and update us on your progress / career soon.

Still around

I dont take weights as seriously anymore. Lately my body has somehow been letting go and ive been stalling. Knees are still kinda messed up from that injury a few years ago. Squatting 275x5 now. Would like to just get to 315x5 and maintain that at least. Hit like a 455x6 RDL or something like that a year ago, and then i stalled and regressed again :/ story of my life

My legs are way smaller than before even if my upper body isnt. I noticed my face is fatter! I guess the big muscular legs lowered my bf% to the point where it even had an effect on my face! I hate having a soft face, and i justttt came across a pic of how ripped i used to be a few years ago and now inwant that back. I actually just came to this site now to see what my numbers were in march 2015 because i had a decent body then and chiseled face. And by chance you guys left me a comment here haha

Lifes been good. Never better actually. Praying 5x/day now in fact. No more partying, much more respect for my parents, never ever have anxiety or depression anymore, my irritability is gone, patience is through the roof, i dont care at all who’s ahead of me in the corporate world at all i just care about myself. I cant believe what a difference *actually practicing* my religion has made on me. Wish i started sooner. I had no clue what i was missing out on. Such tranquility in my heart. Still working for deloitte cyber security consulting. Stilll trying to make moving to Macedonia a reality. Really want a wife. And to be extra ripped again (by my standards - i still look great compared to the average population)

awesome post, especially the latter part of it. happy for you man!

in the context of finding peace/tranquility, the same applies to training IMHO. it sucks about the knees so be safe, health is #1. with strength/athleticism, it's impossible not to progress, stall, regress, repeat. don't worry so much about the numbers as you do the consistency. i'm sure if your squat is "down", then most likely you don't lift as frequently/consistently. You definitely know how to get it back up there.

peace!

Inspirational as fuck

yup that was great. beast.

seeing stuff like that is rough. absolutely gut wrenching that people have to go through stuff like that. that Schott 5k run is like that, tons of people with disabilities participating or being pushed in wheelchairs etc.. always rough & gives you a smack in the face.

Those videos were such a throwback!

You make the lobs look soo easy. I could dunk off the dribble but I've never been able to dunk from a lob.

thanks alot man!!

yea I became a lob master, lmao.

Those high rep squats were also inspiring.

#Motivation.

hah thanks!

yea. something I found to be highly effective but, surprisingly didn't take off too much on here. fwiw, that kind of stuff doesn't take off much of anywhere. high rep squatting is brutal pain, but it works damn well. if one wants to throw their body into an adaptive roller coaster, that's an easy way to do it. get used to heavy 20+ reppers, and you won't feel the same anymore. legs start to feel godly.

i did sets until i could barely walk/stand, it doesn't allow any muscle fibers to escape unscathed. sets adaptation into overdrive.

fwiw, if i wasn't so into running now, i'd be into high rep squatting (like crazy high rep crazy shit). I really miss it/love it, but combining it with running has proven too intense the few times i've tried it. running can really beat you up, have to be careful. If you over-tax things in the weight room, they can become destroyed by a run. For me personally, it's intense enough to do by itself, to the exclusive of everything else. All the same principles apply, but it's just one exercise at varying intensity: ie, running itself is the barbell, the plates you put on it & set/rep schemes are just the intensities/pace & intervals etc.

meant to post this a while ago.

to me the formula is simple:

If you want it bad enough, you can achieve it with a wide variety of training.. but, you have to really want it - which means you are truly obsessed with it, which means you think about it often, push yourself often, and push yourself hard. You can make mistakes, but you have to learn from them. You absolutely cannot take frequent time off.

personally i'd like to see him just take the approach of:

"fuck it. i'm just going to get strong as fuck. put some serious meat on my quads/legs/glutes. jump hard as fuck. dunk hard as fuck. sprint occasionally. eat good. get enough sleep. not overthink anything. not overanalyze anything. and just train like an animal."

 :ninja: :ibsquatting: :ibjumping: :ibrunning:

*applause*

lol thnx. :highfive:

Scooby should ask himself: "Based on my training history, how complex can I make my training program before it becomes too hard to sustain for long periods of time?"

i wouldn't even consider complexity at this point, unless we're talking about removing all complexity.

keep it as simple as possible and grind it out, IMHO.

let it slip in the middle. feel dead today. will probably feel better tonight, seems to be how it works. last time i pr'd my mile i ran a dead 5.09 in the morning, then 4.47 in the evening. who knows. 🤓

08:15 PM: workout: first ever sub3 1km AND sub5 mile in the same effort: {mile @ 4:51 + 1km split = 2:59} + {hammer drop ~320m @ 4:11 min/mi} :: awesome.

- FIRST EVER sub3 AND sub5 in the same effort :personal-record: :personal-record: :personal-record:

felt great. that was pretty tough tho.. started out very fast, held it for a bit, started to slip, smacked some sense back into me, finished strong.

also wanted to hit the gas hard, so finished with ~320m. really happy with it.. basically started at 4:20 pace then brought it down to 3:5X pace, which avg'd it out to 4:11 min/mi .. going sub4 pace at the end of an effort like that doesn't happen often. love it. need to do it more often.

rest!

10/29/2018

<= 4:59 mile vs <= 2:59 km:
- 9 (sub5) + 8 (sub3) = 17 of 50, 33 to go!

top3 finishes:
2018: 26/35 (stay healthy!)
2017: 6/12
2016: 4/10
2015: 0/2
2006: 0/1

diet:
- veggie stir fry for breakfast with orange chicken
- bananas/beet juice/rxbar for lunch
- cookies & cream milkshake with shipped cream around 7:30 PM, so damn good.
- turkey sandwich + 3 bananas + zak the baker sourdough + irish butter

i need to start gearing myself up for 1.25 mile runs @ sub5 pace.

i feel like i'm capable. i have to try hard to extend this 4:5X pace out, occasionally. 2 miles under 10 will be enormous. must keep working towards it.

i feel like 2 miles under 10 is a good precursor towards extending it out much further -> because if you can get 2 in 10, you know what you're doing now.

also need to get to bed earlier.. and train earlier.. :D

so tired of these lack of sleep/crap warmup races. i mean i come home after the race and crash for 4 hours and such. that's a bad sign. i don't crash after my morning sessions where I go even harder, but get enough sleep.

gn!

really glad it seems to be nothing.

I know I've said this before, but I don't think my body has ever felt worse. Hips, calves and quads are super tight and resistant despite a good amount of time spent stretching/mobilising.

that's how i started feeling, despite stretching/mobility etc. sounds familiar.

i feel so much better when i don't stretch at all. it's crazy.

i have to try really hard not to stretch my calves/hamstrings. if i refrain, i feel good. if i do it, i feel like crap. it's nuts. i mean i feel good at the time when i'm doing it, but not to soon after, i feel like crap, especially the next day.

that's a crazy reception, so nuts.

Catches like this is how Adam Thielen ties Calvin Johnson’s record for 8 consecutive 100-yard games receiving! He ran a 4.45 40 yard. How did Thielen not get drafted!???

how did brady not get drafted until like the 6th round? ;f

some people just play up to their competition. some also take it very personal that they get overlooked, and they are just so obsessive that they outwork everyone and hit another level. that's what i see anyway ;d
