Explosive lower workout.

HANG POWER CLEAN:
3@110 lbs ( same )
3@121 lbs ( same )
3@132 lbs ( same )
2@148,5 lbs ( +5,5 lbs ) , ( -1 rep ) ,  :personal-record:
-Those keep getting better and better. Failed to catch 3d rep @ top set.
-Previous PR was 3@143 that i did the last 2 weeks. I think i will add 5th set that i will go for a max single.

EXPLOSIVE PARALLEL BOX SQUATS :
3@198 lbs ( same )
3@209 lbs ( +11 lbs )
3@220 lbs ( +11 lbs )
3@231 lbs ( +11 lbs )

3@253 lbs ( +11 lbs ) ,  :personal-record:
-Insane power , even at top set bar flew up in all reps.
-Just checked log , last time i was doing explosive box squats was ~2 years ago , PR back then was 2x231. So last week's 3x243 and this week's 3x253 are PRs.

RDLs:
3x8@198 lbs
-Decided to go light on those because of hamstring soreness.

STANDING CALVE RAISES:

^ Nah , im fine with lunges , i even like them except from the grip failure part. Was a bit short on time too that day.

PS : Quoting the reminder's headline together with the lunges log = mystery!  :ninja:

LOL, give him a break!
I agree that his main focus should be fat loss , and also that with fat loss the jumping efficiency/coordination will improve much more than with practicing technique.
My 2 objections:
-I dont see why he has to stop practicing his jumps and just lose fat. He is not a 250lbs 25% fatass , he is 192lbs with some excess bodyfat , nothing too much. Why not improve his form while cutting?
-Destroy his body/joints @ 192lbs dressed? Come on...

24 March 2012

Bodyweight@session : ~195
Injuries/aches : none
Soreness : none

ME lower
RIM JUMPS ( 10' rim , concrete court ):
1x4 SVJs: terrible , max 26,5''
1x4 dropsteps : no power , max 31''
4x4 DLRVJs : Started horrible ( 1st set max = 30,5'' )  , ended up good , steady 32'' to 32,5'' and a couple 33''
-Not bad but wanted better from this session ( AM + caffed up ).

SQUATS:
5@187 lbs ( -11lbs ) , full
5@209 lbs ( -11lbs ) , full
5@231 lbs ( -11lbs ) , barely above parallel
5@253 lbs ( -11lbs )  , half
5@275 lbs ( -11lbs )  , half
-Not sure if detrained from missing last week's ME day or tired from ME jumps. Weak anyway.
-On the good side , form is solid , got much better at keeping weight mid/back foot and leaning less.

DB LUNGES MATRIX ( front-back ):
Bored+tired , skipped  :uhhhfacepalm:

STANDING CALVE RAISES:
1x15@187 lbs ( -11lbs )
1x15@198 lbs ( same )
1x15@198 lbs ( +3 reps )

FWIW , i vote for sticking with RDLs too:
Full deadlifts are a 'better' exercise as it has deeper ROM and stimulates more muscles, but you already have that covered with your deep squats. I don't know how much you can stimulate your hamstrings with your squats , but for me RDLs are an excellent choice to keep the squat-caused quadzillas balanced. In deadlifts you go too heavy and that may cause form and muscle targeting alterations ( using more lower back etc ), RDLs have a  much more strict form and muscle targeting inherently.
I am with raptor , keep RDLs in using higher reps , sth like 3x6-8. You might need straps though as they get too heavy , i am currently limited by my grip strength in RDLs.
About ROM , it's easy to track using how low you go beyond knees, shouldn't be more than a couple of inches anyway so keep your form tight , keep the reversing point steady and there you are.
About setup , i use something different than you: i load the bar at the ground , make the 1st rep a regular deadlift and then carry on with the RDL reps , very easy and convenient.
Just my 2 cents.

Generally speaking, reading X's and Y's personal experience is nice and getting  some ideas/guidelines from people that have been training for years is great , but using them to setup your training is wrong.
You should take a trusted coach's experience that has read some books and trained 500 Xs and 400 Ys.
Profession/specialty vs broscience , choose wisely.
Cheers.

Bball game.
Medium endurance and vert.
I did get 28'' SVJ and 32'' RVJ at warmups but legs felt unrecovered , too tight/stiff and got tired fast.

^ lmao , dickhead! :uhhhfacepalm:  :P

Nothing bad with sharing personal experience , on the contrary its very useful.
Taking your personal experience as a guide to give advice though might be wrong and/or even dangerous.
No big deal anyway, I don't even disagree with that "When it's the time to deload you'll know it" statement , i would just prefer it to be stated a bit more elaborating.

3822
I have gone 4 months straight without deloading before. Never felt the need to. When it's the time to deload you'll know it.

I think thats what he meant.

Yeah , i thought so too , just wanted to mess with him.  :P

On a serious note , i don't like arguments like that "i haven't deloaded for 4 months". So what? Someone asked for advice on deloading , we should give him legit advice and not pull-out-of-my-ass-broscience shit.
That article about overreaching/overtraining that LBSS posted was right on spot.

Some very useful stuff ( with overlap with LBSS's reference ) here :

I don't know. I'm going to take a full week out. I don't care if I detrain. Just give some rest to my bones/articulations etc. And overall rest, I could be a bit overtrained.

:uhhhfacepalm:
