15 or 20 minutes of GIMP goes a long way when you kinda know what you're doing.

I feel like I want to kiss adistarhj. Is that wrong? Illegal, yes, I know, but wrong?

You'll have to travel a loooong way then.. Have a good trip! :P

Haha, talk about gay people, they voted my comment -4. Then they talk gay all day long and be manly. Heck, their right to do it, but LMAO.

What I meant was - you keep things simple and you have a much more mature mentality/awareness than what you'd expect at your age. Those were the reasons :P

Thanks for the compliment Raptor :)

I was actually gonna make a lame pedophile joke. Those are all good reasons, I just thought it was a bit creepy...

Apart from genetics/talent, what other qualities do you see in Casey accomplishing that 6.59?.

Low bodyweight?.
Great elasticity/spring?.

Doesn't look to have great "strength" levels in the purest form of max strength.

Any thoughts?.

Completely insane power. A 135 pound dude has no business owning an effortless 40 inch vertical.

I bet his squat, if he ever squatted (no idea what his training was like) would have been awesome for someone his size.

I don't think he did any weight training until a couple years ago when he wanted to start running again. He was still almost as fast as before in spite of all the smoking and mountain dew. Even now at 145-ish he'd still be pretty strong.

I was about to say something, but then I realized the down-votes made it completely unnecessary.

Proceed.

thought you want a 'clean' diet

chocolates are unclean? someone forgot to tell the israelites, that shit never made it into the bible.

lol.

Nothing wrong with a bit of chocolate. (except maybe white chocolate, because that's not even real chocolate)

Well, I guess it shows two things. 1) Sprinters come in all shapes and sizes. He was tiny but generally power sprinters excel in 60m. He disproves that. That jump was ridiculous. 2) Without proper guidance and discipline, great talent is often wasted. It is sad that he had so much, but decided to do the less productive things in life. Too bad we never got to see that talent fully play itself out.

ya bad guidance, sucks, kid is special.

Having said that, you shouldn't be comparing him too Bolt or Gay. Saying Casey could hang with them boys today running sub 10's meet in meet out, is just talk & speculation.

the title is just to draw people in and piss people off.. but casey was destroying tyson gay when they were in high school, apparently.

Not necessarily destroying... but he was definitely at his level and better.

In high school, Combest routinely beat Gay....
... Life was tough, but Combest found solace on the track. Throughout high school, he logged 75 wins (and meet records) in 77 races, including five state championships. He set three national high school records. His scorching 6.57 in the indoor 60m still stands....
In 1998, Combest helped Team USA win a silver medal in the 4x100 relay at the World Junior Championships.

They guy definitely had something special, and I really look up to him for it. But I'm sad things played out the way the did. He didn't grow up in the greatest environment, so he never really had the chance to show how far he could get. ACT score is all that kept him from a good scholarship at University of Kentucky.

Here's my favorite part of the article.

He's only 5'7"

Right now (or at least in 2008) he was still only 145 after some training to hopefully make a comeback.

He subbed me on youtube earlier today. Ha ha. Guy has some cool videos. Definitely a beast.

Haha, Chris in the beast thread. Well he better be in here.

Next I want Casey Combest.

Then why don't you put him in here yourself?  :strong:

Wow. You were smart enough to actually think of that and I wasn't. Amazing.

I don't put him because I can't find any video of him.

Thank you Flander. I know there's another older vid of him somewhere on the forum. Can't remember where though
