also, acole, those one-step jumps are looking better. but you still don't seem to be adding that much speed with the first step. you're mostly just bouncing off that foot and then planting. i try to think about using each step to accelerate my center of gravity forward and down. getting low is probably my most important cue at this point.

the proof is in the performance, obviously: if you're jumping higher with subsequent steps, you're adding power. just food for thought.

my right hip has been killing me since i woke up this morning. trying to stretch/work it out. weird.

EDIT: went to gym but right hip still bugging me. decided not to push it. gonna stretch and foam roll now but otherwise rest and hope it goes away tomorrow.

the two passes that come back-to-back starting at 2:43 in that video are bonkers.

ETA: i just went and looked at his stats, and there were only two seasons (05-06 and 06-07) where he averaged more than a dunk a game. that seems hard to believe.

me and acole found ourselves at the crossfit world championships. somehow we managed to enter the doubles competition (don't think this is a real thing; was in the dream) as wildcards. there wasn't enough space for us in the main area where all the other competitors were, so we were off to the side with pretty much no one watching. but we did all the workouts anyway. at the end, i walked over to the main area just to see, out of curiosity, how we'd done. and we got second place. acole just kind of smiled and shook his head, but i shouted "fuck crossfit!" and cackled with glee and ran around whooping and hollering and gloating.

fun dream.

weird combination of easy and hard. made it to 20 without much difficult but don't know how many more i could have done. racked it the interest of protecting my back, which felt okay today but which was out of sorts yesterday.

-- TTB x 5

pretty weak workout all around. fuck it.
