They should've used more weight. Form was good.

No but seriously... how is this possible? :uhcomeon:

And who the heck trains these people (if at all)?

Apparently there's such a thing like a "continental clean":

that's actually a pretty common way to clean a thick axle. you see it alot in strongman. it's hard to grip the big bars to pull them off the ground with a normal double overhand and they are too fat to use the hook grip. also they are too fat to just roll your wrists over at the top of the clean. it works alot better for big strongmen types that have a large belly to rest the axle on. also you are supposed to lean back at the knees more and almost incline press the axle up, like the old olympic lifters did on their press. or the other way is to double underhand it from the belly to the shoulders by basically rolling it up to the shoulders, sometimes even using the foreamrs or elbows to get it to the shoulders. it's hard for a skinny woman to do it right as they have no belly to rest it on and they have no bodyweight to use for momentum. if you ever use a really heavy sandbag it's the same. you have to get it to your belly and then sort of roll it up to shoulders before you press it. stones work similar to get then to your shoulders. you have to break the clean into two motions. people also do the same basic thing often times when flipping tires, bringing it up to waist or belly and then turning hands over and pushing the rest of the way up.

Hate often times is a truer and stronger sentiment than love. Love can be faked and pretended. Hate ... not so much.

By the way - I've seen some people say that o-lift shoes make your deadlift harder. I find that hard to believe. One of my main culprits in the deadlift is not being able to sink to the heels, and the other is the lack of flexibility to get down. These should be solved by the lifting shoes.

Also, all the o-lifts start with a deadlift at Olympic lifting competitions so... if they really made the deadlift part worse, wouldn't they stop using them? I know that maybe they'd sacrifice some deadlift strength for a better catch etc, but really?

Hahahaha I said these were useful, not that I will be able to front squat after doing them. I COULD be able, who knows. But as of right now it's impossible, although I did have a better rack position a few days ago when I was cleaning for some reason.

So maybe if I couple that with the o-lift shoes... who knows?

Haha, you tempt me to film at home with my bar (not an olympic bar but it will get the point across) trying all kinds of bar grips to see just how bad it can be. I won't even attempt to squat, just to keep the bar "on the shoulders" (impossible). The bar can only be held on the chest in my case. I have tried again and again, couldn't do it. That's the biggest reason why I haven't increase my clean too - because I can't catch a bigger weight than I'm doing now on the chest/arms.

You didn't start with not being able to hold the bar on your shoulders. My best case scenario is holding the bar with the hands, on my chest, elbows pointed down.

cross-arm = terrible, not possible.

Also, how the hell can you maintain the bar in a stable position? I wouldn't risk keeping the bar with just 2 fingers there... not safe enough.

No, trust me... it's impossible. There's no way these elbows come up if I still want to have a neck, head, etc.

If I knew how... yeah... I have no idea of upperbody stretches etc. If I am to pretend I keep a bar on my hands and point the elbows forward, my hands would end up somewhere in the middle neck/trapezius area. They just are very long and end up there. There's no way to hold a bar, I just don't get it.

I'd love to front squat, but the highest I can get my elbow to be is basically pointing down... so the bar sits on the chest supported by the arms. Impossible to front squat that way.
