I thought the same thing initially, that he dived, but looking at it frame by frame... it looks like he was so weak that he couldn't stabilize his body and dropped down.

I agree with what Koing (cool name bro) is saying overall. I guess on the other hand there's the specificity crew who would argue it's a good thing to accelerate the eccentric phase because you want to do that in a bilateral jump.

Except you don't use that depth to jump so the specificity "jumps" out the window.

Shit I meant standing not bilateral. Running bilateral is a different story as you say.

Well they still miss the point if the subject is training for strength and hypertrophy.

Wow very nice... I don't think I've ever hit 24 total reps in the chinups even with the bodyweight.

My 110 kg high bar half squats of yesterday basically look like twice as slow as what you're doing in that video. Will film them the next time.

I'll film a 3x110 full squat video and a 3x110 half squat video.

Hey be optimistic - there's still time!

Well yeah, pretty much. It should be very difficult but not at the level where you need to psyche out and burn on the CNS a ton in order to complete that rep.

The idea is to stimulate, not to annihilate. When you psyche out you overload the CNS and you're going to need a ton of recovery time to get back to your old self. A daily max is just a hard rep but nothing so hard that you can't recover from pretty quickly.

I've watched the video I posted kinda frame by frame and when he hip extends, if you look at his back/upperback it seems like a lot of the extension comes from that area... it's really weird. Like he's very spinal-erector active at the end of the extension.
